The Pepperpot in Derby

Was really lovely, from the food to the aesthetics. Had been given a lot of complimentary foods. Food was well cooked, workers were really kind and the waiting time wasn’t long at all. 10/10 for me!

Our first visit to the Pepperpot and will not be the last. Lovely surroundings, great service and of course, great food! Thank you to our enthusiastic and lovely server Abbie!

A big group of us booked in for a family 21st meal. I have to say that the food, service and atmosphere was top class. Lexi looked after us the whole afternoon and was very attentive to our every need! Thanks pepperpot for the excellent dining experience!!

8 of us went to the pepperpot just by chance and what a find. Excellent food service and atmosphere. The staff, particularly Jess, were probably the best I have experienced in years. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to make our evening di enjoyably. We'll done and when next in Derby a visit to the Pepperpot will be a must.

Wonderful breakfast, Lexi and Jess were both very attentive and the food was delicious. A little disappointed they no longer did the pressed bacon, but we still very much enjoyed the experience and will be back for lunch or dinner soon. Thank you

Had a truly excellent experience last night as a group of 8. From the moment we entered, we were looked after by friendly, knowledgeable & highly trained staff. Under Jess's direction the whole evening was made so enjoyable & we all felt very 'treated'. Thank you all so much for a wonderful evening. The espresso martinis were the best we've ever tasted & were out of this world! All the little extra touches were amazing! Thanx again!

So happy there’s a nice restaurant in Derby now, overall the food was amazing cozy atmosphere. I enjoyed all the dishes except slightly disappointed in the honeycomb dessert (not very honeycomb), will try another dessert next time but everything else was solid. The staff could be more familiar with the dishes but considering it’s still quite new it’s understandable. Oh, and I have to say your sour dough was INCREDIBLE!

I booked a table for two on valentines day. I opted for a lunch time. As an added extra for my partner I asked the staff at the restaurant if then could put some heart shaped balloons, a bottle of champagne, some rose petals and flowers on the table on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble and they didn't let me down. Amazing work to by all the staff. The food was absolutely amazing. My partner was absolutely blown away and as an added surprise they brought the flowers at the end which was brilliant. I'd definitely book again. A fantastic place. Thank you G & A

Stunning venue use of the old hospital, which brought back some nostalgia. The decor & interior was beautiful and the brunch selection was delicious. It’s a must visit!

Fantastic evening for my hubbies birthday .It's so difficult to find restaurants where the food is created on premises and not just bought in.When you work in good you start knowing what to expect !. However The Pepperpot was fabulous - creative cocktails ,beautifully presented delicious food and a team who got it ' just right' not over attentive but professional and knew their products well. We have already booked to go back again

Great place to eat and drink. Lovely decor inside and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had the lunchtime menu and we really enjoyed our meals, with great drinks available too. The lady who looked after us throughout our visit was spot on and made the experience special. We will definitely return. Highly recommended.

One to remember! I brought my girlfriend for the first time and we had such a nice time and meal - to top it off I proposed to her upstairs in the private function room and the team had set up the room with rose petals and gave us a card and some champagne too (a great touch) - she said yes! We’ll be coming back! Thank you so much team Food was great and my only even better if was finding a good place to park but other than that it was spot on!

We went to The Pepperpot for Christmas Day Lunch and it was fabulous! The Beef Wellington was the best I've ever had anywhere.

Great experience right from the start with excellent cocktails especially the Gingerbread Old Fashioned. The meal itself chosen from the Christmas menu was a real treat with all three courses thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. The team serving the food and drinks were all so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended, we will be visiting again soon.

We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday in the private dining room upstairs, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely amazing, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Everything was served at just the right intervals, making the evening flow perfectly. Thank you

The food was excellent, although there could have been a little more veg with the main course along with extra ju. We were a party of 4, which meant the table we were given was rather 'cosy'.

I took one star off as there isn't any disabled access, which in today's standards and newly opened, it should have been one of their first thoughts. Great food and service for those without mobility issues. The photo is the front entrance, the rear has a few less steps.

We had such a lovely dinner here as a Friday night date night! The attention to detail in terms of the warm bread, never letting our wine glasses to remain empty, white glove service, food presentation and just overall service was phenomenal. Abbie really looked after us and her eye for the smaller things was impeccable making it a very special experience

I had the trout and the presentation was fantastic (although small amount of food for the price) but it was over salted which has since given me an upset stomach. We were sat near to the stairs which was distracting from our group conversation. Mocktail was presented nicely. Cannot fault the service, they were brilliant. Due to the over salted food and my upset stomach, I will not be returning.

The service team was fantastic. The atmosphere and decor can't be faulted. Both the Eggs Royale and the Eggs Florentine were absolutely delicious. We had a few issues with the food ordered. Which we raised and they were receptive to (Our final bill was amended to accommodate this). The black pudding with the English breakfast has a strange flavour, would recommend a switch to a different supplier.(Perhaps Stornoway - never had a bad one!) The hash brown was too greasy and tasted of the oil it was cooked in. The pancakes were too tough and doughy, meaning they were overcooked (burnt on the outside) to try and ensure that they were cooked through. The danish pastry french toast dish wasn't as expected/to our taste either. Despite these issues, we would return as the service team are great and the food that hit the mark was excellent.

Please do not listen to the harvester review crew this place is so underpriced and overstated. This place should be be Michelin rated(at least star in my opinion) they have applied for rosettes but not enough. Reviews about bland is bullshit my taste buds are still going crazy it is perfection. The setting is amazing the staff are amazing and the food is well slightly above war and peace.......I had a starter,main and 2 large wines 52.50 anywhere with the quality of the food and wine is at least 75 maybe derby cannot charge those prices. But please please please do not listen to those bad reviews I might not brush my teeth tonight as I am still enjoying the flavours I was lucky enough to come across this evening.

Exceptionally good meal. I could not believe I was eating in Derby. Excellent service, superlative food and reasonable prices for what is a top end restaurant (for Derby). Will return.

Visited for lunch and was served by a lovely young lady called Izzy. She was so attentive to us and honestly the best service I’ve had anywhere in a long time. She is an asset to your business!

Our family visited last Sunday for their Sunday dinner. It was our first time, I had never heard of it before. The entrance is very grand, beautiful big stairs leading to an amazing building. The staff made us feel comfortable and took out coats. It was fairly quiet which made for a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The menus were great both for us and the children, three of us had the Sunday dinner and the other had chicken strips. The food was very good all round, I had the chicken which was very succulent, the beef looked super nice too. Looking forward to visiting again for a date night without the chicken, and possibly with friends. Neither of us were drinking alcohol, never time we will definitely be trying the cocktails. We thought the bill was very reasonable, less than £100 for all four of us!

We had pre-birthday dinner and been offered complimentary glass of Prosecco:) We will definitely come back another time ;)

After having an excellent Sunday lunch here a couple of weeks ago, I returned yesterday with a large group for a celebration. We were seated upstairs in the Nightingale room which was fabulous, as we were able to mingle much easier than if we’d been in the main restaurant area. The room also has a separate toilet area close by which was a bonus. From the moment I made the booking the staff could not have been more helpful, friendly & patient (as I made several changes to the pre-order). The food was amazing, the cocktails were delicious (with lots of choice) and the decor is stunning. As soon as we arrived they made us feel so welcome. We weren’t rushed and we were allowed to linger as long as we wanted. Thanks to the wonderful staff it was a very special afternoon and one I will remember for a long time. I will definitely be returning soon. Thank you so much Joanne.☺️

Been wanting to try this place although concerned by some reviews. Sadly have to agree that everything is great... except the food. Menu reads well and presentation is elevated, a lot of effort clearly goes into preparing each plate, but it didn’t really taste of much. Staff were attentive in checking that everything was OK, and there was nothing to actually complain about, it was just lacking in flavour (except the confit duck which was overly salty). If you serve this type of food then it has to taste amazing…. but it didn’t & we left feeling that it style over flavour and overall rather disappointing. The starters were particularly theatrical in presentation so we were excited to start our meal but unfortunately were luke-warm, tasted pretty bland, and some of the textures we found off-putting (onion soup for example). Mains looked good but didn’t really deliver on taste - vegetarian option was particularly poor, essentially a few chunks of boiled turnip with tiny bricks of potato (described as gnocchi) without any discernible sauce to bring it together. Highlight was dessert & the cocktails were great, but we won’t be returning. Such a shame because the overall experience of our evening was really good - the place feels special - but the food was disappointing and frankly not worth it.

Recently visited with my wife on a date night. Food and service were fantastic. Very reasonable prices also to my surprise. Already planning our next visit!

A wonderful new restaurant in Derby. The food was exceptional quality, taste and presentation. Our waitress JESS was so kind, considerate and attentive throughout. The ambience and seating was wonderful and we will certainly be returning. The most amazing smell in the washrooms.

Had lunch today at The Pepperpot and cannot fault anything at all. The service was so friendly from the time we arrived and the food was so tasty and beautifully presented. Impressed by the decor and layout of the restaurant and we will definitely be returning.

Went for a birthday meal. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food & service. Both vegetarian and meat dishes were lacking in substance. The dessert especially was quite a shock in how poor it was, absolutely loaded with ganache, which we couldn’t make sense of. Would not return with the current menu.

We were really looking forward to visiting the Pepperpot for sunday lunch with our daughter before she returned home. There wasnt a lot if atmosphere as only 2 or 3 other tables were occupied. We got off to a bad start as the waitress first gave us the breakfast menu, then gave us the weekly menu before we eventually got the Sunday lunch menu ! Our starters arrived and were nicely presented and delicious. We had ordered wine but that didn't arrive and we had to remind them before we got it- we weren't asked if we wanted to taste the wine it was just dumped on the table !! The main courses arrived on cold plates and most of 2 mains were inedible due to being stone cold 😥 We did mention this and to be fair the staff did give us a discount off the final bill. We were disappointed overall with the experience which is a great shame as Derby doesn't have many upmarket restaurants and the Pepperpot building has been lovingly restored and converted. I suggest better training for waiting staff and a big improvement would be to warm the plates for hot meals !

Over 40 mins to do a burger with a refrigerator cold piece of French cheese on the cooked burger and a black pudding benedict during a quiet lunch service is poor but comping it was nice

The most incredible Sunday lunch locally. I’m a foodie and I’ve had the pleasure of eating at some fantastic places but my goodness The Pepperpot beats them all hands down for the sheer quality and quantity of their Sunday roasts. We’ve been twice now and it’s always consistently good. The staff are so lovely and very attentive. We’re visiting again soon for their evening menu, so I’ll be sure to follow up again with a review on this. The menu changes with seasonable availability too, meaning it’s different every visit.

This place is overpriced. Lovely building and nice decor but it's typical fine dining. Small portions with over-inflated pricing. £4 for a small bow of greens and £8.50 for a small portion of panacotta. You guys are having a laugh! When I was served the lamb at £23 with 3 small pieces I had to quickly get the waitress to order me some potatoes on the side because the portion was pathetic. Breakfast is a better option but dinner is a NO.I predict this place won't last if changes aren't made. The market in Derby is very limited. When the honeymoon period finishes you guys will be struggling. All style, no substance.

The atmosphere and service was 10/10, the food was amazing and really nice cocktails, I was not expecting such a nice restaurant in the area. Just to bear in mind: menu is decent but not massive, so that not a lot of options, but enough. Dishes are not big, so that you need to get starter and main.

We had a lovely anniversary breakfast last weekend at The PepperPot restaurant. The staff we very attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the decor beautiful. Thank you for making our day special and our lovely glasses of prosecco!

The atmosphere and service was brilliant. However, that doesn’t make up for the fact that the food and drinks were anticlimactic. Great presentation however, but the taste and standard wasn’t good at all. Also, we waited 25 minutes for a few coffees, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant.

Went here for my 24th Birthday, lovely staff and food was delicious. Very nice, white glove fine dining experience. Definitely worth the walk up the steps! Only one option for my vegetarian friend though, as some dishes come with meat products in the sauces too. Will need to return to try the desserts :)

The building is lovely and the decor equally lovely. The food, however, was shocking. My fish was cold and the 3 very small cubed potatoes were raw. My partner had the steak frites.. and 25% of his frites were green.. very odd. Steak tasteless and the sauce was literally congealed butter. Portion sizes were small. Cocktails were lovely .. and the service was exceptional. We were not charged for our main meals. Our waitress was very understanding and professional. It’s a real shame as we’d been planning the visit for so long and we were so flat when we left knowing we would not be returning

Wow, been for my daughters 23rd birthday, the beef Sunday lunch was the best beef I've ever had, fantastic cocktails, service very attentive , we missed out on deserts as too full, but other tables had and theirs looked amazing, well definitely be back to try some more of the menu, highly recommend

I highly recommend The Pepper Pot! I’ve just enjoyed a perfect meal with a friend where had drinks in the bar before entering the restaurant for food. We spontaneously came here and felt as though we had entered a high-end luxury hotel. The cocktails were delicious and the food was very fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. I will return for special occasions!

Had a beautiful experience here today. I am vegan and on arrival I had a lovely oat milk coffee before enjoying the delicious soup for starter and aubergine for main. I was impressed by the knowledge of the staff regarding the vegan options and was treated with respect and kindness throughout my visit. The restaurant itself is stunning. Me and my friend both felt as though we were in a high end London venue! Thank you Pepperpot.

Was recommended by friends, the decor is nice but the menu small and boring to be honest, the meal portions are far too small and left still feeling hungry. Disappointed. The atmosphere felt off and not relaxed. Sorry!

Portion sizes inadequate , prices elevated. The token bread slice seemed stingy. That said, the food was delicious, just not enough for the price or the appetite. Sorry.

Lovely place, very smart and eclectic. Food however rather bland. For the prices I was expecting more and the meal promised more flavour and seasoning. Had to send my steak frites back as it wasn’t cooked as requested. I think the best things were the 2 cocktails we had ‘Clementines’ and ‘Carnival Cosmopolitan’. Staff were polite and attentive.
