The best restaurants in Melbourne South Derbyshire East Midlands

Visited for drinks & dinner on a Saturday evening. We booked the sofa & enjoyed a very lovely, relaxed evening. Nice selection of beers. Food was super tasty, we went for a selection of small plates & a pinsas, everything had amazing flavours and a fab variety. Pricing is really reasonable too. Great service and friendly staff. Fab atmosphere & live music in the main area. Recommend for a lovely, chilled evening & great food.

Nothing special, but nonetheless, we are lucky to have such a good all-around facility on our doorstep here in Melbourne.

Our food was excellent, especially the steak! Staff were very polite and not intrusive. However, the noise levels due to poor acoustics were awful, firstly we had a group of 4 next to us, who were over loud. Then a table for 8 came in and seemed to be shouting the whole time. Interesting another couple who spoke to us on the way out, also mentioned the noise level was high and wouldn’t return.

Only visited and had a few drinks before we could check into our glamping accommodation. There was a nice atmosphere and the staff seemed pleasant, especially a man in a blue shirt who couldn't do enough to help. We didn't eat hear but the food coming from the kitchen looked really nice.

Great bakery but they need to update their times on google. Turned up Sunday at 9am as stated on google to find out they didn’t open till 10. Disappointing. Made a trip to Ashby as the birds there opens at 9.

This is a great little find! Consistently good! Great selection of food and are wonderful with gluten free options! Don’t expect much from the decor but honestly the food out-ways the setting! It’s what you would expect from a Thai in the village off the side of the pub! Always busy so that adds to the atmosphere! Eaten here many times and it’s always been good!

Reliable local Chinese takeaway.

Fresh and well cooked food with diffent menu choices than typically seen. Perhaps a little oilly would be only thing to mention.

Nice traditional pub with a warm welcome and a great pint of Bass. They had a good selection of board games to play as well.

Five of us went for a family birthday meal. Have been before and had a good meal. On this occasion, very disappointed. We were given the menus and made our choices and a second server came and took our order. However, were then told that the Pheasant and Venison were not available, so two alternatives were ordered, one being the Hake. However, fish and chips was brought instead. It was offered to be swapped but that would have meant waiting for their meal while everyone else ate theirs. So a double whammy, not only the first choice not available but the wrong substitute brought. When I came to pay and was asked how everything was, I explained the disappointment of the unavailability of the Pheasant and Venison and the wrong meal being brought. At that point I was told that the Pheasant was available and the server had made a mistake. How frustrating. They then consulted the manager and removed the charge for the fish and chips as a gesture. Overall not the best birthday meal.

We were here a year ago, and had a lovely evening, with great food, good service and lovely cocktails. We discovered before our trip this year that Amalfi had stopped doing food (apart from some bar snacks). This was a disappointment, but I had heard that their cocktails were still good. So, on the Friday of our trip (11th April), we booked somewhere else for dinner and headed to Amalfi for pre-dinner cocktails. There were a few people at the bar, but not all that many, but there were only two people behind the bar, and absolutely nothing was moving. After waiting to even be acknowledged for about 10 minutes, we gave up and left. We didn't see any cocktails being prepared. We tried again on the Saturday. There appeared to be a wedding party, but there were no restrictions to us going in so we thought we'd go up to the bar. Beyond the bar, i.e. after we'd actually got to it, there was a notice saying the bar area was restricted to the wedding party. As far as we could make out, they were all outside smoking. Again, no-one from the bar staff even acknowledged us. Such a different experience from the previous year.

Really great food. Wonderful service. Great little place! It really is lovely for families, as it’s open early and also great as a couple.

Always the best. Not sure about the shop name anymore as it seems someone has messed around but the address is right.

Can’t believe some of the bad reviews. Staff were polite, we were asked what table we would like on entering. The menu was good plenty to choose and reasonably priced too. I chose the home made chilli and chips it was the best I’ve tasted in a long while and I am happy really fussy about food quality, chips were amazing too and all came with a full salad and slaw. I will be returning without a doubt. Lovely tea rooms and full of character. Thank you

I went here to get a portion of chips 25 minutes before closing, when I walked in I was polite and asked for a portion of chips. I was met with the woman saying something in her language to the guy who was serving me, he turned to bag the chips and sighed. I did say if you don’t want to do it that’s absolutely fine, for him to reply ‘salt and vinegar?’ Quite frankly it’s extremely rude, the chips were already there and done, they didn’t have to cook anything additional I will never go back, So so rude! It’s not the first time I’ve known of them being off either people I’ll take my custom elsewhere.
