Zeerah in South Derbyshire

First time visiting and won't be the last. If I could give 10 stars for the atmosphere I would. Great place, great food, great service. Highly recommend.

Used this restaurant a few times whilst visiting friends in Melbourne near Derby. There are only two Indian restaurants in Melbourne, both are acceptable. The owner is very hands on and keeps his staff on their toes. For what you pay and what you get, it's a pretty good restaurant and the food is okay. You are allowed to take your own drinks. It does not have a car park, but you can usually find on street parking nearby. Also, nice to see a 5 star rating for Scores on the Door.👍

Not been for a very long time, but returned and it was lovely great atmosphere and service was great 👍

By far the best Indian restaurant in Melbourne both for quality of the food and value for money. Service is also second to none and as it’s a bring your own restaurant you don’t get ripped off for a beer.

Whether eat in or take away we’ve always been really happy with our meals at Zeerah. It’s a great neighbourhood curry house.The staff are great too and what’s more you can take your own wine or beer. Highly recommend.

Probably the worst Biriani I have ever had ,it was dry and flavourless,and the Smallest pieces of meat,if you could find any at all.

We’ve been going to Zeerah for years, but the last two takeaways we’ve had contained meat in the vegetarian curry. I’d given them the benefit of the doubt the first time, but clearly their kitchen processes are substandard and quite shocking. The manager was rude and refused to refund more than the curry itself, despite the fact it ruined the whole meal and expected us to drive to Melbourne to bring the meal back! Definitely won’t be ordering here again sadly.

Went for first time last night, very welcoming staff, the meal was exceptional from the crisp, tasty poppadoms to the best jhall tikka I've ever had and on to the main which was delicious, all our party said theirs was also really really nice so as l said it was my first visit but it definitely won't be the last.

Excellent little curry house who looked after us all night. Nothing was too much trouble. Fairly busy so long wait on food.

Food great, service very good. Restaurant a bit tired, walls grubby, table sticky. Needs white table linen. Toilets need upgrade. Atmosphere and surroundings a little disappointing, couldn't fault the food. Not sure if would go back any time soon..shame.

First time visit to this restaurant and was very impressed - Warm welcome - great service - tasty food - Had the set menu, Nice poppadoms - Great starter - Onion bahji, and chicken tikka - followed by Chicken tikka rogan josh and lamb rogan josh, accompanied with plain rice and a garlic Nan. Lovely friendly restaurant with perfect front of house staff . Made to feel part of the family with superb recommendations from the menue . Starters and main courses plentiful and exactly as described on the excellently prepared menue . Staff could not have been more helpful with my friends who were a little wary of the menu in.respect of meals being too spicy . Top marks would definately recommend and revisit

Lovely welcoming place. Good prices. The main courses were some of the best we’ve had anywhere. We had chicken tikka bhuna and labra chicken. Both fantastic. Will definitely call again.

Good service very basic menu but great to take your own alcohol with you but a great midweek place to go to for a quick meal and they do a special offer on a weds night that can’t be beaten

We were a large group (13) which tested the mettle of the restaurant; the servers and kitchen rose to the occasion. We all shared an assortment of starters and everyone seemed pleased. My main was one of the chicken specialties (gulbahar?), which was delicious. The restaurant could accommodate varying tolerances to spice. It is BYOB, but the restaurant provided glassware and service was excellent.

Absolutely fantastic. This is not the first time visiting, every time we dine here we are treated like royalty! We went for my 40th birthday this time and the table was decorated, and they sang happy birthday and cake out with a cake and all for free! My son's 18th he received two gifts and was pampered! The food is fabulous and great value for money, especially good that you take your own alcohol. Carnt say enough great things! Thank you so much, you always make our visits so special.

Our first visit at the weekend and it was the best curry we’ve had in a very long time. Staff great and can’t do enough for you. Went with Marks recommendation and it was absolutely delicious. Will be back soon!

The restaurant was able to accommodate four diners for two hours at short notice on a Friday evening. Service was efficient despite it being full. A good choice of tasty dishes served promptly. Remember to bring your own (alcoholic) drinks if you wish to – there is a Sainsbury’s Local just 50 metres along the road.

Not sure what's happened here but can only imagine it's been taken over- this is not how this restaurant used to be. Absolute chaos would be the word that I would select to describe the experience- waited two hours for main courses that were very disappointing and swimming in oil once they arrived. Had to ask multiple times for drinks, water, the bill. Prices have also gone up so we paid £50 for 2 people to have main courses, popadoms and 2 soft drinks. Am not sure why there are no reviews here form some time- my advice would be to avoid as we will in the future.

Went here on a Wednesday, first time dining in. They had a limited special menu and with not being a big eater of curry (I only like dry tikka or tandoori) this wasn't a menu option so I asked if they could do it anyway and they did. Not only that but I asked if I could get a potion of chips (again not on the menu) they said unfortunately no but brought some out with the meal anyway and didnt charge us extra! The food was amazing and talk about going above and beyond. Very very impressed with the service and a great atmosphere. Its a small place but very busy so highly recommended to book prior. We will definitely return. Thank you for a fantastic evening!

Lovely little place. Have been meaning to try it for a while. Finally did and wasn't disappointed. They looked after us and made us feel really welcome. The food tasted fresh and not oily like a lot of Indian restaurants are. Good size portions and will definitely go back and take the kids. You have too take your own alcohol, which keeps the cost down, which I think is great. There is even a Sainsbury a stones throw away to buy the alcohol. Nice 🙂

We were 15mins late due to traffic, table booked for 6pm but then told we had to be out for 730 due to how busy the place was, only 1 table occupier, server was very rude will not ever spend a penny in there due to how poor everything was

Fantastic meal, beautifully prepared meal and the service was perfection! BYO on the booze made it even better, especially with a Sainsburys local a couple of hundred yards away. Attention to detail was as good as it could possibly be when my starter arrived as per the attached photo, following an apparently innocent enquiry as to my football allegiances!!!

Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a fun night. They wrote messages on our plates and provided a complimentary birthday cake and sang for my birthday. Food was good and reasonably priced . had another great meal at zeerah . Good choice of food cooked perfectly with great friendly service - faultless. you can also bring your own alcoholic drinks which makes it a very cheap night out. the restaurant was very busy but not overcrowded.

On arrival the greeting was first class, made everyone aware of no alcohol but places close by to get a drink if needed, gave us a menu and in very cold night put the fire on (although was very cold in the restaurant! Pickle tray was fine with average generic sauces, starter was two of the smallest samosa I have ever seen then came the main.........Very poor! My partner being vegan asked for a spicy veg curry etc, I had the lamb bhuna. They were both a watery mess with 0 spice and no flavour, honestly so so bland! We left well over half of both, the mushroom rice was a good portion but very stodgy and stuck together! My keema nan was OK but nothing more than that but the cherry on the top was £8 for 4 small chapati, it's flour and water!!!!!!!! £8 for something not even the size of a regular naan when you added the 4 together. For what we had it was very expensive and we were hugely disappointed. The staff were pleasant but when questioned at the end just said sorry and were keen to usher us out the door as customers were close to the paying area. Sorry, but would not recommend at all

We have tried many dishes - all great - great flavours - Makhanin is outstanding. Every time we go it is consistently good - highly recommended.

A really nice meal in nice surroundings that was good value for money - we'll definitely be back. NB: The restaurant is not licensed, so if you want to drink an alcoholic drink with your meal you'll have to bring your own.

After months of disappointing curries elsewhere (near home in Rugby, and even in Brick Lane), tonight’s meal sent my taste buds into hyperspace - absolutely awesome!

This was a takeaway visit. Got the menu on line, phoned the order in and collected 30 minutes later. Really lovely food and lots of extras we were not expecting. Exceptional Naans and we had enough for a second meal! Highly recommended.

Living 2 minutes walk up the road we often have a takeaway, even getting it delivered when we're being particularly lazy. Never had a single fault or disappointment, the food is good and the staff are incredibly friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anybody looking for a well priced meal in the area.

We visited Zeerah when visiting Melbourne for the first time from Grimsby we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would recommend it to anyone visiting Melbourne. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent will definitely eat there again if we come back to Melbourne.

Great curry at Zeerah on a recent visit to Melbourne. It’s Bring Your Own Bottle but there is a little Sainsbury’s just up the road so no problem. We had the Makhani and Dopiaza - very good indeed and quick service.

We took advantage of the Eat out to help out offer after visiting Zeerah a couple of weeks ago. We had a fantastic meal with friends and tonight was no different. Great choice of starters & main course. The nan breads are delicious. Our favourite Indian restaurant ❤️

I was staying at Springwood Fisheries just outside Melbourne and was delighted to discover that Zeerahs deliver and knew the place well. The service was extremely friendly, the delivery very prompt and the food absolutely delicious. Also piping hot despite the journey. Also extremely good value. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

Service was good throughout the meal, however when it came to payment of the bill I had paid in cash and they failed to bring back the change from the bill, taking the money as a tip that I had not chosen to give. Ordinarily i would have left a tip, but this should be a choice, not an assumption made by the restaurant.

Amazing restaurant with a very varied menu. There are many options covering traditional madras etc along with lots of speciality dishes. The staff are always very polite and very keen to help. One of the things I particularly like is that they aren’t licensed to sell alcohol but you can take your own and they will happily provide glasses and serve it to you.

14 of our family went to this Restaurant tonight. Service was efficient and very friendly. Food came in good time and was good quality from starters to mains.Topped off with a great cake for our birthday boy. Would recommend this friendly restaurant, particularly for larger groups.

We have been coming to this restaurant for the 2 and a half years and we have never had a bad meal! The service is very good, not overpowering but attentive. The lamb dishes are amazing, always very tender. If you are unsure what to have, just ask! The prices are very reasonable. Very lucky to have this in Melbourne!!

Poorly cooked, unimaginative food.

Called in for a takeaway, not been in since two bad experiences not long after they opened. Heard better things recently from an associate so time to try again! The food was very average. I chose the Achari Lamb, it could frankly have been any kind of generic curry in what was a very average brown coloured sauce. I would imagine that whatever I’d chosen would have looked remarkably similar. To be fair, the lamb was tender, however this was offset by the fact I woke up around 1am and drank about 3 gallons of water. This I can only put down to a large amount of MSG in the sauce. The better half had a veggie curry, which kind of resembled an oil slick. Poppadums were OK but the dips are poor, naan was also very average. Would I give them another chance? No, not ever. It was better than my first two experiences, however they both went in the bin so it would have been hard not to have been.If you like generic curry that leaves you dehydrated, it’s the place to be. If you like traditional curry, I’d give it a miss.

Zeerah has always been lovely but lacked in veggie options- but since the last time I came they’ve added the option to have any curry sauce as a vegetable one, which is much more interesting! Excellent for large groups, and bring your own booze! Lovely x

We have often visited Zeerah and have written a review before.We returned this week and had the best "Indian" meal we have had for ages.Really enjoyed it and as usual the service was good.

I was celebrating with friends and I was having to eat extremely quickly because had to leave straight away to pick up someone from the airport. They have been fast as lightning keeping the food quality extremely high! The lamb tikka was the best I've ever had. A huge thank you to the super kind and professional staff member MJ who helped a lot. Strongly recommended restaurant. 5 stars full

Just had a takeaway from here tonight, Prawn Korma and Garlic Chicken. This was the most tasteless meal we have ever had, we have been previously and it has been lovely however tonight both meals had no taste, the garlic chicken was purely big chunks of onion and very little chicken, the prawn korma was all sauce. We will not be rushing back, the sooner Melbourne gets a good takeaway the better, a little competition does no one any harm

We used to go, on our Thursday date nights, to various restaurants in the Melbourne and Castle Donington area, until we woke up to the fact that Zeerah consistently provides good tasting curry and that there was no point in going elsewhere Between the both of us over the last five years we’ve probably eaten most items on the menu and have never had a bad meal Very friendly hardworking staff deserve the praise they get for their high level of professional serviceWe’re so happy Zeerah is here in Melbourne Highly recommended

Food reasonably priced and not licenced so save money by taking your own alcohol. Not impressed by the stained table clothes and shabby place mats and our meal was dry and tasteless. Is ok if company is more important than the food. Having said that, it's always busy, probably because it's the only Indian restaurant in Melbourne.

Zeerah is compact, comfortable and friendly. Serving excellent Indian cuisine. Not fancy, just somewhere local, and pleasant that serves great food. Take your own alcoholic tipple, soft drinks can be purchased. The waiting staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Managed to slot in at 6pm on a sat with no booking. Last table. Seems to have been a slight change of staff, for the better. Food was great mixed balti, mixed grill all nice and fresh, tasty. Great naan all for a fantastic price!

Had a takeaway from here. The service was fine. The main was nice but the paratha and onion bhajee were inedible I am afraid. I am sure it would be fine if you stick to main courses and the more usual/popular sides.

Really disappointing. Initially booked for 7pm sitting. Owner rang back to say he has mistakingly over booked and that we could only dine at 9pm. Turned up for our 9pm sitting to be told to go the pub next door as the table would be 30 minutes late. Finally got to sit at the table at 9:45 after my sister cleaned the table for the waiters. No recognition of our delay or the fact that we helped them sort the table to allow us to be seated. Food then became rushed which spoilt the whole occasion. Good was mediocre too. Real shame that there was no consideration for customer service. Won’t go again.

The booking for this place wasn't great. My friend phoned to book and left numerous messages and didn't here back to get confirmation until an hour or so before we were set to go! We were about to go somewhere else.

Very tasty and authentic Indian and Bengali food. The lamb and the traditional style Fish buna is highly recommended. Bring your own alcohol is also a plus.
