The best restaurants in Melbourne South Derbyshire East Midlands

We have been here several times and have always received a lovely warm welcome, the venue is small but immaculate and the cocktails are by far the best ones I’ve tasted (they really take their time to deliver a very well presented delicious drink). We can’t wait for our next visit

Visited with two friends on two nights running, a Saturday and Sunday, whilst staying in Melbourne for motorcycle racing at Donington Park. Food was excellent, with some dishes very different to traditional Indian restaurant fayre, those that we ordered were delicious and we will return to work our way through the menu. The service was excellent and very friendly. All three of us commented that it was probably some of the best Indian food we have eaten.

Best avocado and eggs on toast I have ever had; the chilli oil was a genius touch! My first time in here and left very happy, thank you for a lovely brunch!

We had a excellent meal, this place truly defines the difference between being a good cook and a good chef. I had the lamb with hasselback potatoes, being a decent cook I was quite proud of hasselbacks, however the chef blew my mind and taste buds with their version, so creamy and such a well balanced plate of flavours, the presentation was Michelin level and the service was also to a high standard. I will be visiting again as there were many items on the menu that I would chose.

A friendly and welcoming spot for excellent coffee and delicious food! We visited 3 times over the course of our stay in Melbourne and were made to feel welcome every time. The coffee is superb, the service is quick and friendly and the food is delightful; we sampled the hog roast sausage roll, panini, filled egg roll in addition to raspberry and coconut cake and an almond croissant. We hope to visit Fortey's again on our next stay in Melbourne!

Sat down at 8pm and waited for service only to find out from another table that it was order at the bar. Very few staff visible. Limited menu compared to what it used to be. Mains delivered while we were still halfway through the sharing platter starters. Only licensed until 9pm when the last orders bell went. Advised closing time was 9.45pm. On the plus side, the place is a great space to eat, the food is good, as are the beers and wines.

We were invited to a friends surprise birthday party and fell in love with the beautiful ballroom and it’s stunning chandeliers. The service was excellent and the party couldn’t have gone better.

We paid over 120.00 for 4 dinners and diet cokes. Very expensive for Sunday lunch! Over 28.00 for one course don’t think would go again

Nice pub! We got there just before 6pm and was able to order our burgers just in time before the kitchen closed at 6pm. They have a good range of burgers all with its little twist. We all ordered different burgers - I had the Italian pizza burger, one had the katsu curry burger, another the Mexican burger and the texas bbq burger they all came with chips and onion rings on the side all for £12.95 🙌🏼 Definitely recommend you going if you are in the area! We were well looked after. Toliets were clean too!

It’s now Meaks. Some serious efficiency improvement would benefit this pleasant cafe. For example, customers queue at the front desk to place their order, but this person (singular) also makes the tea/coffee. So the queue gets priority but at the direct expense of the serving of tea/coffee. There has to be a better way of managing this. We waited 20 mins for a pot of tea for 2. It’s not that difficult. Tea Pot. Hot water & tea bag. Cups. Saucers. Milk. How difficult is that. I could make it in the time it’s taken to write this. Mentioned it to a waitress and the reply was ‘we’re busy’. Yes I could see that. This is not a complaint about the staff. It’s an observation on inbuilt inefficiency. Which could and should be sorted.

A fantastic little place, so cosy, beautiful decor. The staff were so friendly. I tried to order the pancakes, they said 'I'm afraid they're on the breakfast menu, that stops at 1200', when I asked could they please be done for me, they were, no problem. REALLY appreciated it. Well done & thank you.
