We were visiting the area and wanted to have a Sunday lunch together before we set off homewards. I found Harpurs online & liked the look of it & we certainly found a gem! The Staff were all really friendly and the food was plentiful & delicious ! There’s a convenient pay & display car park next door (fee refunded off your bill). Lovely place! If we all lived nearer we’d be there a lot!

I cannot believe that we only paid £14.99 for TWO beautiful pizzas and then only £3.00 for the most delicious dessert - fabulous value for money, especially when most restaurants are putting their prices up by a huge amount. On top of that, the staff were so helpful and the service was excellent. Thank you, Harpurs, we shall definitely be back and will be recommending you to all our friends.

Sunday 11th August 2024, after visiting Melbourne Hall, we all strolled up the high street to go to the ‘Harpurs of Melbourne’ restaurant. We had a table booked here at 5.00 pm for dinner. We entered within and were shown to our table in the restaurant. We looked at the small but interesting menu and made our choices and ordered our drinks. Whilst we were waiting for our food, we started catching up on news and gossip and there was plenty to talk about. The food arrived piping hot and was very well presented. My husbandhad the ‘Sunday Roast Beef dinner, Janet has the Pork Belly with apricot stuffing and I had the Lemon & Thyme Chicken, all meals came with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes and was served with a nice selection of vegetables (anise carrots, cauliflower cheese and a green vegetable selection), accompanied with a jug of gravy and cranberry sauce. We washed all this lovely food down with a pint of IPA bitter for My husband, a pint of strawberry and lime cider for me and a pint of larger for Janet. We all had desserts; My husband had the lemon posset with blackberry compote and meringue, which he said was very nice. Janet had the chocolate brownie ice cream sundae, which she said was delicious. I had the white chocolate delice with raspberry sorbet, which was lovely and light and the perfect finish to my meal. The bill for the meal was very reasonable. We would certainly recommend Harpurs if you are in the area.

Best avocado and mushroom on toast I've ever had! Service was brilliant and they accommodated both a grizzly 2 year old and a whining dog.

Excellent food at exceptionally good value, taking advantage of the lunch time pizza deal. The puddings were delicious. All the staff were very attentive and the pub has a nice ambiance, tastefully decorated.

We have never visited Melbourne before and wow what a treat! We walked into Harpours on the off chance of eating and we were greeted with a warm welcome. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was brilliant throughout. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again

We’ve eaten at Harpur’s a couple of times this past week. The food has been great, very tasty & competitively priced. The customer service is also brilliant. They do some great offers at certain times of the week which are exceptional value eg 2 for 1 on pizzas. We could definitely recommend it to couples, friends & families looking for a meal out & we’ll be continuing to go in the months to come.

Afternoon tea, made very welcome and a nice selection of savoury, cakes and hot drinks with fizz to follow we were both very pleased.

Visited many times now. As a couple also with family and friends. Enjoyed Sunday lunch here many times. On this visit, it was busier than I have seen it before. The food and the service was top notch. We really enjoyed it. The only reason we don’t visit as often as we would like is that it’s just a little too far from home. Took visiting friends to Harpurs for Sunday lunch. Food was very good, and chocolate dessert was something special! Very relaxed atmosphere - all good.

Food not up to scratch, staff quite lazy and incompetent , very quick to add a service charge which is totally unacceptable given the service and food received. This is the second time of bad service will not entertain going again.

We decided to treat ourselves so we went for afternoon tea at Harpurs. We had to change our plans/time of arrival earlier in the day but the staff there couldn’t have been more helpful to do this for us. There was a lovely warm welcome when we arrived from the manager and our waitress was immediately very attentive. She brought the food and drinks to our table without delay and made sure we had everything we needed. The chef came into the dining room to ask if we were enjoying ourselves and our food, and when we said we were struggling to eat everything he went off and put the remaining cakes into a box for us to take home with us to enjoy later. We had a lovely afternoon and will definitely go there again

I have to say, hand on heart, this was the best fish & chips I have had in a very long time. Folk may differ but the meal was perfect for me. The batter was light and crispy and the chunky chips cooked to perfection. My wife had a steak sandwich, which went down a treat, and my son-in-law had pizza. My daughter hasd fish & chips but the gluten free option. The staff were very friendly, the pub very clean, and service excellent. I will highly recommend this place

Our first visit in a long time & we weren’t disappointed; friendly welcome, good menu choice and great value. We had wood fired pizzas and jerk pork, with spicy calamari, pickled onion rings and fries with Parmesan. All were excellent, although too much food in the end. Visited about a year ago and was disappointed by the food we had. However, ate here on Thursday evening with a group of friends and pleased to say we had a much better experience. 3 of us had the steak and ale pies, 2 had pizzas.
