What can I say but amazing! Stayed in the Glamping site over the weekend. Went to the Melbourne in for a bite to eat on the first evening. Good menu, reasonably price and fantastic service! It was so good we returned on the Sunday for a roast dinner, the staff were very accommodating on both occasions as we had left it close to finishing the meal service but the were more than happy to serve us. The girls on both days behind the bar were very friendly, happy and smiley and very polite. We will be returning to the Glamping site and also to the Melbourne inn.

This was booked "blind" for a group of friends from all over the country following a walk at Calke. We were very agreeably surprised. Excellent menu choice, generous portions and well presented. You should try it if you're in the area.

Glenn serves the best pint of Timmy Taylors in the area and the Sunday roast leaves all others in the village behind. Value for money, filling and just "like mum makes". You can't go wrong with his burger bin the week either.

Having not been to Melbourne for a good while today was the day we went. Looked on Trip Advisor for recommendations for good. This place stood out. Nice and cool inside and a warm welcome. We ordered lasagne and hubby had a burger. Both delicious & good portions. Definitely go back. Thanks for making us welcome and valued.

A few of us are West Ham fans and also at Download Festival, which clashed with the Europa Conference League Final. We had planned to visit another pub in Castle Donington to watch the final and meet up with other friends, but due to the traffic nightmare on the day, we had to go somewhere else and quick. Thankfully traffic to Melbourne was flowing easily and found the Melbourne Inn on a google search and so glad we ended up here. The food and drinks were superb but the overall factor for our excellent review was down to the landlord and staff making sure we could get back to the Download Festival site as no taxis could get to us. They went out of their way to drive us back and we were so grateful. We will back to see them next year!

My son and I visited today for a late lunch. Ordered the the Classic Cheese and Bacon burger, Ham and Cheese Toastie and Cheesy Chips. The food was freshly cooked, the portion sizes are huge and the quality of the food was amazing. Even better was the price!! The service is excellent and the Bass is a defiant must if your an ale drinker. Would recommend the food to anyone and will defiantly be eating there again.

WOW WOW WOW . Without question the best Sunday lunch I’ve had . ALL fresh veg and even lamb on the menu at no extra cost . But the best thing was the value . £9.95 for a dinner but in £14.50 you can have THREE COURSES. The pub is family run and such a lovely clean and friendly environment. Will we back back ??? You bet we will … 5star across the board 👍🏻

My boyfriend, Billy, and I stumbled across this absolute gem on our return from a walk around Staunton Harold. Soooooo soo glad that we did. Billy went to fetch some drinks and came back saying that he really wanted a Sunday lunch after seeing it be served inside. I was sceptical as we were supposed to be going to a Food Festival in Lichfield. Nevertheless, I relented and we had a roast. Omg, incredible. I cannot believe we got that much food for £10. We were absolutely stuffed. I want another one already! Thank you so much.

Basic food, served hot and generously. Service basic too. Having had an entire cup of coffee spilled over our table (accidental), we were moved ever further from the fire, next to a woodburner which remained unlit. It was a cold day. Improvements could be made.....

Had been to visit Calke Abbey and was looking for a meal and drink after a good walk. Also needed the establishment to be dog friendly. Well, we could not have asked for a better location. We were all made to feel extremely welcome, a good choice of menu, food served throughout the afternoon/evening. The food was delicious and generous portions. The staff were so welcoming and friendly will definitely visit again.

I found myself near East Midlands Airport, alone and in need of food. Went to the Lamb Inn in Melbourne (Derbyshire, not Australia) and found a friendly pub with it's own pizza diner. I ordered a pizza and a pint and was expecting 'pub grub'. How wrong I was! I've eaten all over the world on my travels but I have never had a pizza as good as these, and that is no exageration. Hand made dough and hand shaped, these pizzas offer the thinest, crispiest base you've ever had. The sauce and toppings are just excellent and, although there is a menu, you can talk to the chef (James) and he'll make exactly what you want. He'll even mix toppings 'half & half' if you want to share a snack with a friend. Don't go expecting a wide menu of other things; this is a pizza diner, just that and nothing more. The pub is not 'posh', but is very friendly and has a massive car park at the rear. They have the 'Cask Marque' for their beers, so a quality pint is guaranteed. I've made the journey back there more than once and taken friends, who are now all converts. It is worth a visit if you're in the area. You will not be disappointed.
