Called in just as they were closing on a Saturday afternoon. Really friendly service, freshly cooked (tasty) food, and plenty of it. We live away, but if we're ever in this area again, we wouldn't hesitate in calling in again. 5☆
A place to go for something different: local delicacies of pyclets and oatcakes served with flavoursome toppings. I had the "Canadian" (pyclets with bacon and maple syrup). The food is beautiful and the staff are welcoming.
As of March 2024, it shares premises with "Derby Uncovered" which sells local food and non-food products, including pyclets to take away.
Visited after walking Mam Tor for sunrise hoping for a breakfast. Sunday morning so not much open. Breakfast items were very limited, very “hip” menu, so went for banana bread and 2 x waffles with a tea and 2 hot chocolates. Service wasn’t great, stood at counter ignored for a while, tea delivered without milk or sugar/spoon, no apology or conversation. Nutella waffle was absolutely smothered and sickly. A little too dog friendly - Table next to us had a small dog on lap with paws on the actual table. £36 later and still hungry unfortunately.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. A traditional pub serving Indian and British food. Was quite busy but had a good atmosphere about, with sky sports on the TVs and a pool table.
Menu has a small but decent selection of food which was on our table in about 10 min. Had a regular mixed grill with salt and pepper chips, dipping sauce and naan bread. Portion size is unbelievable and is plenty to fill empty tums, so make sure you're hungry. The pub is clean with a decent selection of ales and lagers located just outside the city centre. Decent price for what we ordered. We didn't need to book a table in advance but may need to on a Sunday afternoon. Overall highly recommended.
What a hidden gem! Scotia and Lisa are fabulous hosts. As a family in a campervan looking for a stop over on the east coast this ticked a lot of boxes. Free stopover in their carpark if you buys drinks at the pub. They have an honest shop with all the bits you may need, milk, chocolate etc a washing up sink and washing machine. The pub had a great atmosphere, darts boad, and kids were made to feel welcome.
We stayed over for NYE and the pub put on a small free buffet and kareoke. We also walked to the village hall that charged adults £2 entry for a kids disco and cheap drinks. The following morning we were offered a full English and a cuppa for £7. There is also an electrical point in the honesty shop you can use overnight for a charge of £7.
Not much in the area but great for bird watches on the marshes or a cheap and cheerful stop over.

not hygienic at all. the girl there wiped the used plate in front of my eyes instead of washing it. and I kept asking her to change my utensils but kept bringing me dirty once. it is a joke
This place is very cozy and comfortable, staff was very friendly and helpful, menu was cute, food was probably the best chinese I have had in years, the food also came incredibly quickly, prices are super. Could not ask for a better experience.
11/10 definitely eat here whether visiting or a local.
Some pics on the wall would finish off the atmosphere.
Please can you have a second choice of coffee. Really enjoy coming here for Brunch/Lunch. But the coffee isn’t up to much - very bitter.
Thanks
