A very ‘locals’ pub as it is just a few minutes away from the main centre of town - but what a gem! Popped in for a quick pint and was made very welcome by the regulars at the bar. Ended up staying for some food and probably a couple of pints too many - and a new mate! The food choice was wide but I only had a couple of the starters

I was always a massive fan of Green Onions Cafe, and have been for years. It is very dog friendly which is a massive plus. The owner Matt is very friendly, and is very amiable. If you had asked me 2 years ago, this place would have been rated 5 stars easily. However more recently some things have changed and not for the better. The menu has changed and things cost more (which is understandable as most things have these days). However the food portions have also become noticeably smaller, and the food quality has also lessened. For example instead of the round hash browns, now it is just a cheaper hash brown. You get 2/3 small tomato’s, and mushrooms are limited too. When paying more you would expect the portions to remain the same. You used to also be able to add a fresh juice onto a breakfast however now it is all sold separately. Therefore to go for breakfast it will cost a lot more than previously. It is still a good cafe, but it would be nice to see it change some things back to how it used to be.

Everything about this restaurant is excellent. They will adjust dishes to suit, even cook some favourites from Teknaf days. Tonight, I had Haag Mach with Tarka Dhal and Pilau rice. Delicious as always. My wife had her favourite, Chicken Dhansak, which is always good.

The menu is really varied (so we'll be back to try more things) and the portions are decent. My rarebit was tasty, but didn't come with the veg crisps mentioned on the menu. Nice to have salad on the side. Rarebit isn't often seen either. They use quality ingredients and make as much as possible themselves. Good cortado as well, you don't get those everywhere.

Good start, disappointing end. The jerk chicken and chops 'box' combo with rice, plantain and dumpling was tasty, as was the cherry sour. But I couldn't have the Guiness Punch as there was "no Guiness". What?! I never see Guiness Punch at UK Caribbean restaurants so have never had it. I thought, finally here's a place I can try it! Oh dear... So I asked for the bill then waited for 20 minutes while the staff proceeded to not bring it, but put xmas decorations up in the otherwise empty restaurant instead. Given the very positive reviews I assume this wasn't their finest moment. I might be tempted back if I knew they could actually make a Guiness Punch and I wouldn't become invisible when it came to paying.

We arrived at 1pm and were sat immediately in a booth which was fine. We had to sit 32 minutes before we had our drink and food order taken. We ordered Taco and Empanadas as starters, which were delivered 5 minutes apart? Next was the sharing platter, this was "AMAZING" not just your normal Sunday spread, but lots of added extra flavours. The Cauliflower that we ordered as a side was "FANTASTIC" very flavourful indeed. If the staff had a little more enthusiasm then this would be a perfect little eatery.
