New management mid October 22 so hopefully will improve. *Update Jan 24* A great improvement Angela and staff do a sterling job, great choice of beers, just been redecorated and looks fantastic. The pub has been totally turned around 👏👏 A real community pub

A proper good local pub. This has been our local since approximately 2013. The new landlady , Ange took over the pub just over a year ago and the pub has improved vastly since the previous landlord had it. Ange has put her heart and soul into the place to turn it around and has done a great job bringing in the punters and making it a welcoming place to have a drink and catch up with friends and the locals . It's just had a lovely refurb too .

went to a Macmillan fund raising afternoon. both of a change stood st the bar with a coffee and not a beer , but the lovely ladies had made cake and scones - bonus ! 😁

I called into the British Protection Inn and I feel that a nice pub stone throw away from the town centre was excellent. Warm welcome and all the locals friendly and speak to anyone who walks into the pub. Clean tidy with some offers on the bar cheaper than local supermarket lol.Definately a place I will visit again. 😊

Not been here for years, a proper ' no frills boozer' serving the local community. A new landlady of only a couple of weeks will hopefully keep it going, quite busy when i went in early Friday evening.

my 1st ever local from day 1 ive loved this pub/home was welcome and seen many landlords/ladys each 1 brought many good times and to this day still going strong recent new landlady bringing lots new entertainment as well as traditional hand pulled beer top quality all served with a friendly face behind the bar a very safe place to be and for children b4 certain times and dogs . its well worth a stop come and try the best ales in town

Had a fantastic primary school reunion there on Sunday can't wait for the next one

Brilliant pub and amazing helpful staff! Beer is perfect and the new food menu is so good! foood is absolutely amazing!! So tasty and best of all they do gluten free and vegan and its all homemade!!!! Loved it!!!! The kids ate all the pizza and the chips and The samosas are the best iv ever had wow!!! Can't wait to try the gluten free burgers!! 🍔 xxx

Used to play darts here years ago against Ronnie Perry etc. Decent pub.Wish there wasn't wheelie bins always outside then I could get a decent photo.

It's the best in all ways you will love it.

Quaint little pub, ok for sports but not really a family place, facilities ok but basic. Does everything that a pub always used to but not what most do these days.
