Great place,friendly and helpful staff and very nice food

This has always been a fav for me but of late I feel its very pricey and the food wasn't at its best. Not sire if the chef had changed but on my last visit I was shocked at the bill

We held our volunteer celebration evening at Giovanni's. There were 26 of us and the service, staff and food were all amazing. So, no matter how large your party group is, you will be well looked after.

Always a nice reception and the food is ace.

Foods were nice. Ordered the Bruschetta Pomodoro, the Penne Giovanni’s and the Tiramisu. The portions were seemingly controlled (positively). The dessert was not as large as what I initially surmised. Would try, again.

Excellent Italian Restaurant, Barvo!

It's expensive for the quality of food. The team working there are lovely and super helpful but the food is just okay.

We had two starters and two main courses at Giovanni’s. All the meals were excellent- very tasty. The service was superb, with high levels of care and attentiveness from everyone at Giovanni’s. A hidden gem in Droylsden.

What an absolute gem of a place ! We were made to feel welcome from the minute we walked in, the staff were lovely and the surrounds and atmosphere great , lovely kitchen that you could see into and the food was fresh , beautiful and authentic and the portions huge ! We had a lovely evening and will definitely be back

A lovely local restaurant, with very tasty food at a good price. Relaxed, chilled atmosphere, and very good service from both the staff and the owner. I've been coming here for many years, and will continue to come for many more.

Booked on very short notice, staff very attentive and helpful, nice relaxed atmosphere, food fresh and hot , loved the gluten free options, definitely will return, good red house wine.

We have walked past Giovanni's many times & decided to check it out due to the good reviews online. We went for an early dinner & the welcome was very friendly. We ordered a garlic bread with mozzarella, a duck tagliatelle, as well as a penne with sausage, & bacon, etc. For desserts, we had the Biscoff cheesecake & sticky toffee pudding with custard. The garlic bread was baked fresh & smelt lovely when it arrived but it was quite bland & there wasn't enough garlic, which was a shame. The portions of the pasta were OK. The meats were in small slivers so didn't look very generous but we did get some meat in each mouthful. We preferred the flavours of the penne but the spice kick of the duck tagliatelle. What was disappointing was both the pasta seemed overcooked & softer than expected, rather than al dente. In terms of dessert, the cheesecake was really gooey & decadent, and was lovely with the vanilla ice cream 😋😋😋😋 Am not generally a massive fan of cheesecake and this exceeded expectations! The sticky toffee pudding was pretty light & wasn't bad but wasn't remarkable. All in all, Giovanni's has some decent fare but we were expecting more based on the reviews we had seen.

Wonderful. Could almost have been in Italy. Staff friendly, and attentive but not too much. Food was REALLY tasty, fresh and was delivered to table promptly. Not too many vegan options on the menu but staff were happy to accommodate. Will definitely return.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! Made us feel so welcome and actually made our kids custom Milkshakes not on the menu! The food was spot on! Definitely our new favourite place as a family.

Had squid to start and it was powdery and rubbery. Carbonara main was nice. Service is great but it's quite expensive

The food was the best Italian we’ve ever had, and we’ve tried a lot. We live in Hertfordshire and would drive to Manchester just to eat there again. Authentic, fresh, full of flavour, served by staff with sparkle. Personally recommend the Spaghetti & scallops and the cheesecake…I’m not usually a fan of it but theirs was something beyond the usual!

It’s my second experience. This time even worse then the first. Look at this tiramisu…. It’s not fresh at look and look like after the fight. It’s nit supposed look like this even for take away… Lasagna was bad… all pasta is overcooked, too soft, felt very fat… there is no taste at all … really disappointing…. You need to change chef and pay attention on your kitchen. I will not go again. My second dissatisfaction.

First time at Giovanni's and was greeted with very polite and friendly staff. We arrived early but was seated straight away. The food was absolutely delicious and good size portions and came away extremely full and happy after our visit . I will be highly recommending Giovanni's to family and friends. Visited on a Sunday around 5pm. Nice atmosphere with mix of ages, family groups and couples. Service was friendly and quick. Food was excellent, my pasta dish was as good as I've had anywhere. Reasonably priced too. Highly recommended.

Dined here in September. I can honestly say Ive never been made to feel so welcome in a restaurant. Lovely people. Best garlic bread we have ever tasted. Daughter said same about her lasagne. Pasta meal was delicious. Cosy restaurant with warm friendly atmosphere. Staff so friendly we were nervous about eating out on our own in an unfamiliar city made our evening very enjoyable. By far the best restaurant I have ever been to, the service and hospitality was amazing as soon as you walk through the door you feel welcomed and at ease. Extremely relaxed and laid back vibe topped off with polite, attentive staff. The food was unreal I had a steak and my party had pizza, spaghetti and fish dishes and all were beyond exquisite, perfectly presented and the flavours were out of this world! I couldn’t recommend this place enough and will be going back there at weekend for a birthday meal. It's so good to find a restaurant like this still exists. Where good service and excellent food come together. It's light and airy and so clean. Nothing is too much trouble but all done with minimum fuss. Our grand children love the place and are very relaxed there. I love the seafood risotto, best I've had in years.

It was Sunday and me and Fabienne decided a pasta would be good. Fabienne chose Giovanni's. I'd not been there for 20 years or my wife either. Well it has undergone refurbishment; tiled floors, new bar on entering and the kitchen as is the trend, before your eyes. We were greeted by Grace and led to our table by the owner a nice gentleman who we learned was half Italian and family from Genoa as was my wife. Well the cannelloni I had was piping hot and my wife's was Penne Pasta with Salmon, this was preceded by my Garlic Mushrooms in a lovely sauce, my wife chose oysters, again served piping hot, as is my want for hot food. Portions were right and sufficient, Fabienne did ask and received extra Salmon from the young lady waitress Nadia. It was definitely comparable with the Italian restaurants we'd visited before, and we reflected that we'd felt more at home and treated better than counterparts we'd visited in Venice, where the prices and availability of a table had been less than desirable. It's nice to know that we can be entreated to a very good standard Italian dish on our doorstep and will visit again. Furthermore my siccillian Lemon Cheesecake was indeed scintillating with a delicious raspberry sauce, and complimentary serving of vanilla ice cream. Service was quick and staff pleasant, although a bit hurried! I got the impression that there was a certain, how would you say transition in staff, but this wasn't a problem and they acquitted themselves well. The amount of £54 total, which had included two small glasses of white wine, Pinot Grigio for me and a regular house white for Fabienne, followed by coffee, very happy with the price! Will come again. I'd only rang to check availability fifteen minutes before. So ver happy with our decision to have a meal at Don Giovanni's!

Didn't no this place was open for take-way, it seems they have adapted the business due to COVID 19, amazing service, smells so good, fair price, really tasty, didn't no a takeaway could be dressed so nicely in the containers.

The below response to my review says it all as to how you get treated here and peanalised! Good luck Felt uncomfortable from the moment we walked in was told rather than asked that we wasnt from the same household and explained we are (this went on for a good few minutes)! We was then told the police will be arriving any minute now and we will be fined and we said ok thats fine as we can proove we are. I understand we are in the middle of a pandemic and this is the rules but everyone else didnt get someone come over to there table and get peanalised like we did! As for following regulations we didnt get asked to "sign in" or to give our name and numbers for track and trace or even scan a barcode! Chicken was very fatty and pasta had no taste! my sister in law did enjoy her steak but thats about it. All staff just stood n stared at us throughout and made us feel so uncomfortable. Even getting asked to be put on a bigger table was an issue when we was the only ones in there to start off with. Bad experience from start to finish

100% sure I am half Italian. Ordered tonight for a take away, I’m not a huge meat eater so asked if I could have a creamy mushroom pasta and wow the nicest Italian I have ever tasted and lovely lovely staff.

This is our favourite restaurant the food is so fresh and delicious you get spoilt for choice what to order, we went for a friends birthday we had a great night the atmosphere is lovely & the staff are so friendly and always remember us. Prices are reasonable and theres plenty to choose from.

This is our favourite Italian Restaurant of all time! The food and service are consistently excellent and we drive from the other side of Manchester for it. Had a takeaway. The people are very polite and friendly. The food was ready on time, nice and hot and really tasty. The main meal portions are big so lots to eat, all at a great price. I will definitely visit Giovannis again.
