9 Ales on tap. Homemade pork pies/pastries. Scratchings from the local butchers. Darts/Dominoes on demand. If you like traditional pubs, this place is perfection. Enquire about the beer festivals, I hear every single pump (25 or so??) Has a different ale on tap...!

Didn't eat here just called in for a drink and 1 of there pork pies made by a local company and boy they are fantastic and there are a few types to choose from ... Also met up with some fab friends

This is a good pub with a lot of very well kept real ale and a good atmosphere to, the coal fire keeps the pub warm in the cold to.

Food is great , staff very helpful, rooms very comfortable and I will come back.

As an outsider Phil the lovely gentleman behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly, for a Tuesday night it was quite but the atmosphere was welcoming with a good choice of real Ales 🍺 Lovely little pub.

My local, you can enjoy a decent pint and make friends. The staff are very welcoming.

Brought up in the 70's, I have witnessed the demise of all of the pubs in Donnington and Wrockwardine Wood over the last 20 years. It's great that this traditional pub is still going. Good selection of ales, lots of well spaced seating. May we continue to support this traditional pub.

The clientele's wit are only surpassed by the landlord's debonair personality. The ale is fantastic and I have been there all afternoon.😂

One of three great pubs in Oakengates. It serves a wide and varied selection of real ales that are all kept in very good condition. The pub is only a short walk from the station which makes it a good way to visit.

Best pub in Oakengates for real ale.

This is the best real ale pub ever the beer is excellent. The Landlord & owner won the CAMRA award fairly recently if he was a Chef he would be Michelin star rated. The choice & range of beers lagers cider etc is fantastic. The chalk boards tell you what beers are on tap & also what is due on soon. The Quality is second to none. Thank you Phil you are special.

Brilliant if you are a ale drinker like my friend ,but I just wanted a nice warm drink as I was driving and thay could not a Blige on a cold day like to day it would of been brilliant .but it's still a lovely old pub with good people .

Smashing atmosphere, happy merrily fueled with beer people, nice clean place and a brilliant barman called Tom, he knows his beers, very pleasant and professional in his role, a real credit to any pub type establishment, well done Tom, happy days 😉

A cosy and friendly atmosphere without the modern pub chain drawbacks ie. noisy and unruly children with equally noisy adults. Plus you can drink real beer served by nice staff without being charged extortionate prices. Every egg a bird. Keith.

Traditional pub with extensive beer offering based mainly on Yorkshire brewers. Look out for the chilli pies.

Revisited after many years to attend the local Camra Branch meeting on Tuesday 13 March 2018 night. The pub has an interesting range of real ales on with a chalk board identifying future further beers to come. It is a fairly small front bar where the serving is carried out from but it was difficult to judge as there were over 30 members squeezed in the rear larger room. They did not appear to have any dark mild , stout or porters on the real ale choice at that time although a Titanic Porter was on the list of beers due on. I had a drink of half a pint of Rat Brewery Coffin Rat for £1.50 (£3.00 a pint) which was in good condition although had a very sharp taste!

A hidden gem in Oakengates! It's like a beer festival every day, with a very good selection of real ales. A very comfortable, easygoing pub, where you are always made most welcome.

Fantastic pub, packed full of real ales and Belgian beers. There's also a great gin range too! Extremely homely, welcoming and there's nothing better than sitting by a roaring open fire with a drink in your hand 🍷! Definitely recommend.

A real ale drinkers pub. Not a amazing choice this time but it depends on what's on. There are a few strong ales and fruity ones to choose from too. I go occasionally on a Sunday for a quiet drink. This time I went on a Saturday night. It was heaving and the atmosphere was good. Later on it go a bit louder due to the alcohol consumed lol. It's far from amazing but worth a visit to sup some ale. I'd say I like the place.
