The best restaurants in England

Sadly this establishment no longer exists, and seems to be a house now. ( February 2025).

Have been going to La Cucina weekly for years. The quality of food, the amazing happy and bubbly staff which become your friends, the perfect pairing of spices and flavours.. you name it, it’s all 10/10. Travelling half an hour there and half an hour back for their amazing food weekly simply because nowhere else can do it better than them! Highly recommend the Don’t be so Philly loaded fries but with cheese sauce instead of burger sauce. Thank me later!!

The best fish and chips I've ever eaten and a great atmosphere !

Very thick batter did look nice but didn't taste very good was very soggy fish was watery.

Why are you shutting down, is it the Brewery putting up prices or something else?

Besutiful hotel, great staff and great food but Stayed here a couple of nights ago in room 9, could hear every word of the conversation and tv in the next room and they weren’t speaking loudly. Knocked 4 times to ask them to be quiet (it was after 11:30), called reception to help, no one there. They must know this room has terrible sound proofing and needs to be sorted. Mentioned it when leaving , they didn’t care. Also ordered a chateubriand and got served a fillet which was lovely but was not what was ordered and got over charged for extras. Disappointing , won’t rush back again ,

Fantastic food and great service as always!

My boyfriend took me to this pub yesterday as he'd been thr week before & thought I'd like it. Sat outside at the front as the weather was glorious. Great atmosphere in the bar, decent music from all eras & several staff & customers chatted to us, making up feel relaxed & welcome. The drinks were fantastic, I drink cider & there was a gorgeous & very impressive choice of them, I had a Cloudy Rhubarb then an Elderflower one, both beautiful. We will definitely be visiting again.

Just been to the Shepherd and Crook for Sunday dinner. The food was lovely, real proper roast like my mum used to make. It's a real friendly atmosphere, and even though it's only the 2nd time we've ever been there, we were made to feel welcome by the locals and the bar staff. The lady behind the bar heard me say it was my wife's birthday, and to our amazement, she brought us a birthday cake after we finished our meal. What a lovely gesture, I can't thank them enough. Looking forward to going back very soon. What a wonderful little pub.

Big problem the locals were all standing around the bar so you could not get through to order a drink, even a polite excuse me had no effect so just pushed through. The barman wished he was somewhere else. Pity he did not value people who wanted to use his establishment,

My friend and I visited Heather and Batch today and we had a lovely piece of cake and drink. The staff were genuinely lovely and really helpful.

Good local pub,good ales,nice atmosphere

Had a full afternoon tea here and it was absolutely fantastic! So many delicious homemade savouries, quiche, sausage roll, vol au vents as well as delicious sandwiches with the freshest bread. Gorgeous scones and lots of scrummy cakes as well. Lovely friendly staff too. This is a real treat - Highly recommended.

We were invited to this restaurant by friends. What a delight. The menu was not pages long and confusing like some Indian restaurant menus are! The staff were really friendly and the food was so good. Tasty and not greasy. My friend and I ordered Mixed Biryani, my husband ordered a Handi Murgh. Everything was so fresh and flavoursome.
