Not reviewed for a while, so having reviewed the other two great cafés in Church Stretton more recently, here goes. Coffee and cake; lovely latte and a really squidgy Flapjack, often found elsewhere to be dry these days. Heather and Batch does seem to offer more wholesome fayre to the competition, not that my dentist would agree re my choice on this occasion. Called again the day after but absolutely rammed, word is getting around. Back soon no doubt.

Arrived at 2.50 pm for a late lunch. We were informed by a member of staff that the kitchen was closed, even for sandwiches. A sign inside the cafe said food available until 3pm. We opted for cake and coffee, which was all they were prepared to offer us. We waited for nearly 40 minutes for two slices of cake from the display case and one pot of tea. Staff stood around chatting, no enthusiasm for the job. We were made to feel uncomfortable for being there. We will not be returning.

Quick lunch stop at the Heather & Batch Coffee House following a visit to Cardingmill Valley. Good menu selection. I had a simple cheese & tomato sandwich which arrived on the most delicious fresh granary bread with tangy cheese, fresh tomatoes. The small side salad of rocket and watercress with a balsamic dressing and homemade coleslaw was just enough. My partner, who is gluten free, had a ham & cheese toastie which he said was delicious. He then had a slice of gluten free carrot cake which he thoroughly enjoyed. To his amazement, there were at least 4 GF cakes on offer (not just the usual token brownie). Staff were friendly and efficient. Everything felt COVID secure. Really lovely place - we will definitely be back.

Visited recently for a coffee on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Had researched the place before i went but couldn't find it initially - It's so easy to miss as it looks closed as you walk up the town and walk past but don't be fooled - It's open for business and what a gem it is! Walk down the steps, through the double doors and the serving counter is right in front of you.

We stopped off in Church Stretton on our journey home from a weekend away today. Food was amazing, you can tell it is locally sourced and 10/10 for quality. I love how you display where you get your products from as we actually went and purchased some bread from the bakery. Businesses supporting other businesses. We had a flat white which was perfectly done by the lad (sorry I didn’t get his name) - textured milk was second to none and the latte art was an added extra. Nothing was too much trouble, 10/10 for service.

Visiting Church Stretton today we decided to take a ‘pit stop’ at Ginger & Green. What a great call that was. I understand it’s under new management and the lady certainly knows how to run a fantastic coffee shop! Judging by the popularity of this place, I’m not the only one to come to that decision. The choice of food and drinks on offer (all at a very reasonable price for the quality and quantity being served) made it difficult to pick! Only one thing for it - a return visit to sample some of the other delicious offerings! I highly recommend you pay a visit if you’re near Church Stretton at all - you won’t be disappointed. We had our works Christmas do here for 30+ people and we stayed the night. Front of house staff were lovely and welcoming, but that is all I can really say nice about our stay. Our room was like something out of the 70/80s very twee and old-fashioned. Quilt cover had a rip in it. Bath looked old, faint smell of cigarette smoke. No soap, shower gel etc in the bathroom - to help save the planet apparently - you could request some at reception. We were woken about 6am by what I assume was some kind of water cistern behind one of the bedroom walls that sounded like a plane going over head. The party. Arrival time was stated as 7pm and most (about 180) turned up about then. We were all crowded into the bar which wasn't big enough and soon warmed up to a very uncomfortable temperature. They eventually let us in at 8pm. Drinks were astronomically expensive - £7.50 for a pint £8.20 for a Baileys or a large glass of wine (£25+ by the bottle) and £7.20 for a pint of coke!!!. The main course wasn't served until after 9pm and my beef was dry and tasteless, though others who had the turkey said it wasn't bad. And my Xmas pudding was dry too. All in all not somewhere I would ever go again and certainly don't know where it gets it 4 star rating from. I did voice most of my complaints to reception before leaving.

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.
