Fourth year of coming here but the first time this year eating here. The food was stunning that we ate there twice. The staff are lovely especially the waiting girls. Managed to speak to the chef and tell him food was fab and about the mention the pub got in the times. Will definitely will be returning lovely village as well walked through people very friendly.

We were staying in the area for two weeks and visited the Royal Oak three times. We loved their food. It was fresh, tasty and really good portions. The staff friendly and welcoming. Three times in two weeks says a lot - the food was that good that we didn't need to travel further a field. I would certainly recommend.

Food was absolutely superb. We shared crab and scallops to start, both cooked to perfection. Enjoyed the duck special with creamy, cider caper sauce. Again perfectly cooked. Cosy atmosphere and friendly locals. Staff were very accommodating of our noisy youngest child who has additional needs and can be tricky over an evening meal. Would highly recommend.

Went a couple of times with family while on holiday. Had the scampi initially, then fish and chips the second time. Both meals were very good and so was the service. Could have quite easily settled down for the evening and had a few more drinks, had the footy not been on. Would recommend, if you're in the area.

Good food, good beer, good price. The only blot on the evening was the local man in the red jacket blocking the way to the toilets, when asked to move he retorted with a "clever" answer.

Cosy Cornish pub with very pleasant interior decoration. Food mixed reviews. Two companions had ‘starters’ for light lunch, one the Camembert, the other scallops(4) in sauce. Mine was the main course ‘Crab Bake’ which was very poor value at £18. The topping of cheese and breadcrumbs was ok but underneath was a pinkish slop liquor. It could only be eaten with a spoon. The accompaniments were new potatoes (2 in number, quartered) and a small salad of a few green leaves, one halved cheery tomatoe, s slither of onion and cucumber. Perhaps coincidentally the late afternoon was spent examing the inside of a toilet door!

What a lovely pub. Please don't change! We have longed for a friendly pub that welcomes everyone. I have so many fond memories here in the 90s and it was my grandparents favourite restaurant. So pleased to see the friendliness hasn't changed (like it has in other nearby pubs!)

Wow! The place was packed and we could soon see why. Service is slick and efficient. Atmosphere is just right. And the food was amazing and really good value. Starters of mushroom and Stilton soup and also the scallops are amazing. Mushroom stroganoff as a main was again really good. Scampi and chips ok and I liked that you can order a small portion. Good menu choices available and they also cater for dietary needs if this is something that you are looking for. I recommend a meal here.

The Royal Oak is so popular with local people and visitors alike. This is why, if you are thinking of going there for a meal, you need to reserve a table first! Anyway, we go there for a meal from time to time in the evening. The food is always excellent, and when you've finished your dinner you can choose any flavour of ice cream!! The service is first class as well, so one feels inclined to leave them a tip. The trouble with Pub's these days is the fact that they put 'Burgers of this, and Burgers of that' on their menu. So well done to the Royal Oak for not having them on their menu All in all, for me, the best Pub in the vicinity.

Absolutely fantastic from the moment you walk into this little gem of a rustic pub. Friendly helpful staff and very organised. The pub itself is clean and well maintained. We had the seafood and steak and it's one of the best meals we have ever eaten and for such a good price. It was wholesome locally sourced food that was fresh and cooked well not your run of the mill pub grub at all! Children would also be welcome here and the food variety for them is excellent as well as having smaller toilet seats was a very nice touch as some pubs don't consider this. Would definitely eat here again and definitely reccommed!!!!!

Everything was cooked to perfection and plenty of it ! One person had an allergy and they made a point of asking both at the time of booking and when we arrived to make sure all precautions had been taken. The staff were absolutely brilliant from start to finish and the food was stunning. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a meal as much, and it wasn't overpriced (it was the same as a very disappointing meal we had just down the road). We will definitely be back! The Royal Oak is a fantastic village pub, contributing enormously to village life. In times of COVID lockdown, it is a pleasure to support them by making use of the takeaway service. Last night my wife and I had 'Poacher's Pie' and it was fantastic! Situated close to the busy A39 but far enough away to enjoy a quieter village location this is really worth the effort to find.We visited at lunchtime and received a friendly welcome and were directed to a table inside although there is plenty of outside seating plus a beer tent. There is an extensive menu and we opted for baguettes which came with chips and salad which made an unexpected substantial meal for less than £8 so excellent value. There is also a good range of local real ales.At the time of our visit the phone was busy with bookings so it it would be wise to book for an evening table.A lovely hour in pleasant surroundings and friendly company.

Fantastic eating experience - every Covid - 19 base covered - we enjoyed thoroughly a meal , with family for four adults . No concerns whatsoever regarding hygiene , tables well spaced out , adequate hand sanitisers face masks required on entry until you were seated . Waitresses , masked at all times , superb . As I said our meals were delicious - a return visit guaranteed

First time back here after lock down , once again fantastic food nothing to fault, good varied selection on the menu, friendly staff, dealing well with Covid-19 rules. I had the Rib eye steak wife had the Duck both excellent with lovely tasting vegetables. You need to book ahead but definitely worth a visit.

Have really thought through the COVID challenges and staff have been brilliantly trained in dealing with customers who may not be so tuned in to the circumstances. Food is hearty, well sourced and well prepared. Beer is in great condition. On top of that there was a raspberry gin cheesecake. Very impressed.

So pleased we found this little gem! Visited twice whilst in holiday nearby. Both times we experienced 1st class service from every member of staff and the food was outstanding. Good Covid measures in place. 1st visit i had a Sunday roast and my husband had the pie, both had a good selection of fresh veg and all the trimmings. 2nd time steak & gammon. Plenty more choice available for a more distinguished pallet! We had cheesecake for desert, yummy!! These people should be proud, It's a perfect example of a British Pub. Wish my review could do it justice! Thank you Royal Oak

Dropped in for lunch on the way to Trelissick. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and good ale. My wife enjoyed her vegetarian cheese and marmalade Wellington and I thoroughly enjoyed my pan fried duck breast. They are very popular as a pub so patience in waiting for food to arrive was important .... took about 25 minutes but well worth it. We shall be back There was loads more on the menu I would like to try

The standard of food has never failed to please us here and the staff are lovely. Best scampi and chips I have had in a long time and our friends had the steak and mushroom pie from the specials board which they both said was delicious. The atmosphere is cosy with the low beamed ceiling and old building. All in all a great place for family and friends or just a romantic meal out.

We have a combined age of 160, but we got married late last month and - rather than a fuss - followed the ceremony with afternoon tea for the guests at the Royal Oak. They did us really proud - everyone has commented on the standard of the food, the friendliness of staff and the cosy atmosphere. They even decorated the place most beautifully and accommodated our disabled selves at a special table with a carrot cake and a three-tier cake stand full of lovely treats. They made a special day enchanted - and they deserve all credit.

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
