Dhillon's Plaice in North Kesteven

We tried this chippy probably a year or so ago and found it very good, the size of the fish was enormous and the chips were very nice too, we rotate on takeaways every 4 weeks or so. A couple of months ago it was chippy night and found the batter on the end of the fish so hard couldn`t cut it with a knife , the chips were just as bad, so we gave the chippy a break anyway we decided to try them again last night, needless to say we were still as disappointed.....thin batter (overcooked) hard underneath and the chips were thin dried up sticks. Very disappointed and wont be returning.

I am from Grimsby and we have the best fish and chips in the country .Dillons fish and chips is just as good and best quality fish. I must admit the curry sauce was the best I ever tasted .

Great food, friendly staff, just be prepared for a little wait in the evenings - they’ve not quite got the speed of service sorted yet. Well worth the wait though - Very highly recommend. The Lunchtime special is a great deal too.

Just been to the chippy. Had a long wait and I was getting annoyed. Talk about redemption I had battered sausage, chips, curry sauce and peas. Absolutely the best chippy food I’ve had in years. Well worth the wait. Cheers to all.

My family and I have always thought very highly of the Branston chippy! The food is always cooked to perfection and the staff are so friendly. I definitely recommend.

Haddock is the size of a whale. Really massive. Chips portion is very generous too.Highly recommend this place.

Our first visit to Lincoln and one of my friends recommended this chip shop in Branston at crossroads. Very neat and clean shop, great tasting food, friendly staff. The size of cod is very generous.

It's what you come to expect from a McDonald's.. cold Fry's and luke warm hamburgers..had to wait awhile for my order to be done.. very strange as hardly anyone was waiting to be served..

Decent but batter a little thin and too crisp

07/08/2024 Just bought a cheese and onion fry it which was burnt on one side, fish which was overcooked, it was very dark and hard batter with very little fish inside, chips and curry sauce, total £12.70

We called in last week and was greeted with a lovely smile and a friendly welcome. We decided to have the 'lunchtime special' fish and chips and a curry sauce. The batter was nice and crispy with beautifully cooked white flakes of haddock. The chips were cooked to perfection. Very tasty . Thank you.

First time visiting one of the cleanest chip shops I've seen. We were late walking in but they cooked us fresh chips while we waited and they were the best chips (and pie) I've ever tasted 😋

If you want lovely gluten free fish (no batter) and chips with no risk of cross contamination this is the place to go. Very clued up and delicious 😋

I had a large chips, large, jumbo, battered sausage and steak pie it wasn’t too bad but it was a lot better under the old ownership and the food wasn’t very warm the time I got home and needs to be open more in my honest opinion

Our second visit to Dhillons (visiting the area) 2 months apart & can honestly say yhelat the fish portion is both delicious & large. Truly value for money.

All food fresh and perfectly cooked, very impressed and lady on counter really friendly, 100% recommend.

Cheap for fish (£6:50, £6:80) haddock, cod. Locally caught each piece is about 14" long. Regular chips and a fish would feed 2 hungry adults

As an occasional visitor to Branston I've had a few fish suppers from here and in general they've always been good. Tonight was not so good. Far too much batter for my taste. Maybe just a one off.

Ring and order to be ask to join the back of a queue. Then don’t take an order over the phone

Best fish & chips we’ve had! We already loved this chippy but since it’s been taken over by new management we think it’s even better. Good size fresh fish and lovely chips. Perfect balance of flavour and texture.

This was our first visit the fish was nice the chips were to thin and there was loads of crispy ones what you couldn't eat as they was to sharp and was digging in your gums we wouldn't return

We went to branston today to collect something and happened to see chip shop .. so decided on spur of moment to have some and we've got to say some of the best fish and chips we've ever had. . Thankyou

Absolutely amazing fish and chips, huge portions and the best curry sauce I've had from a chippy.

Initially all looked good, size of fish (cod) and colour of batter. BUT, the fish was well overcooked and the chips bitty and dry. Very disappointing.

Called in for a portion of chips whilst in Branston, the ‘large’ chips portion was not a good size at all, we ended up going to get more from our usual place (The Barrier Reef in Metheringham), would not visit here again unfortunately but the few we had were tasty.

Went to get my partner and I our meal. Fount the women unsettling. Haven’t felt right since eating the food feel very nauseated

Gone way down hill since recent new ownership. Fish always seems to be overcooked, stale and dry. Even worse when you consider they charge £6.80 for one.

Food was excellent but it took for ages to get served as it is very popular and value for money

It seems marks has new management and team. The quality and freindliness hasn’t changed so far, and long May it last.

First visit since new owner has started. Very friendly. Excellent haddock and chips. Well worth a visit.

Just called In for fishcake and chips. Excellent. Pleasantly surprised to see that the new owners are the same lovely family that own the Brant Road chip shop.

Limited stock so could not get what we wanted to order, but what we had was excellent.

When visiting Lincoln last week we fancied Fish and chips and by chance found Marks Plaice. Wonderful food and good portion size. Owners very polite and friendly.

Terrible quality meat and just all round not good for the price wouldn't recommend.

Excellent product quality and reasonably priced.

Over priced, really small portions and the service is so slow it's painful. Usually a queue outside in the street, about 6 people deep waiting to get in. Fridays are even worse.

A small chippy that makes delicious food. The staff are friendly and and food quality is excellent. Would recommend and definitely come again when passing through.

Drove over from Derbyshire to view a car and on the test drive said to the owner is that chippy any good? To which he replied best you'll taste round here! So after the viewing we dropped in for tea, 10 mins before closing and the staff were welcoming and fish cooked fresh. 5 mins later we both enjoyed some of the best fish and chips we've tasted (my parents lived at the coast) Absolutely amazing and I'd even say I'd drive the hour back again to have them again 👍

First time of visiting, very friendly welcome. Ordered lunch special which is half a piece of fish, chips and a pot of peas/ beans. So delicious crispiest batter and lovely chips., Mushy peas just as they should be. Will call in again well worth a visit.

Had fish n chips from there a few times and never disappointed. We live in lincoln but sometimes buy wen driving past. Staying at Hanworth Country Park this weekend so decided to have a chippy tea on Friday. ☆☆☆☆☆

I have only been once so far but from what I've seen I looks like a good chip shop, I have now been hear many times and this is one of the best in lincolnshire as voted be Lincolnshire live.

Best fish and chips closest to Lincoln. We ordered the haddock with chips. The haddock was very crispy and tasted amazing. The chips were pretty good. The store was clean and the staff was very friendly. The prices were a little on the high side 7.5GBP for haddock and chips, but the portions and flavor are well worth it. Credit card and cash are accepted. We will defiently come back.

Great chippy! Lovely fish. Very covid safe, only 2 allowed in shop at a time, queue outside until space inside. All freshly cooked. Lovely mince beef and onion gravy. Parking for 3 cars directly outside or lots more in Co-op car park 2 minutes walk away. Mark and his staff very pleasant and welcoming.

Anyone who lives in Branston and the surrounding areas should make it a point to go to Marks Plaice. The fish and chips are second to none. I couldnt believe the size of the fish i got, (or should I call it a whale). I live down south and everytime i come to lincoln j head straight to Marks for tea. Fantastic tasty meal. Keep it up Mark.

Very disappointing. We asked them if they could skin the fish but were told 'no'. When we got our fish and chips home they were overcooked and very dry. We are fairly new to this area but this was our first and will be our last visit here.

Really friendly service and always reaaaaally good fish and chips. Very generous portion sizes too!

Friendly staff, great prices. Only issue was that the gravy appeared to have bits of meat in it, and I am a vegetarian. This was a new one for me so I didn't think to ask! All very covid safe.
