The best restaurants in England

Worst chicken ive ever had. So incredibly dry it mustve been sat out all day or even since yesterday. Chicken incredibly dry. Wings incredibly dry. And somehow, even the fries were incredibly dry. AVOID!

Me and me julie ditched the office for fish and chips. Class.

Nipped in here one dinner time last week whilst delivering in the area and could smell the chips in the air! Glad I did. Fantastic food. Trying to lose weight... I might struggle a bit round here!

Absolutely amazing food and friendly service. Expect a short wait as food is all cooked fresh but definitely worth the wait.

Pleasant little pub. Went on a Sunday. The menu is very small, but enough variety for most. Please be aware that the Sunday menu is different to the normal one, and you can't order from the normal menu on the Sunday (much to my daughters annoyance! She wanted a burger or the pasta, but had to have a roast). Food is good for the price. Staff are all great. Not the biggest place, so could imagine it getting a bit full at times, but overall, all the 5 of us enjoyed the food and drink and time spent there.

We have stayed at St Mary's Hall many times on full board so we have used the Hall restaurant on many occasions and have always thought the food exceptional. This year we opted to self cater on then Island allowing us more evening freedom, but we wanted to book an evening meal for our wedding anniversary. We had a table in the Grill Room to allow us to bring our Cocker Spaniel with us. The Hall is obviously very proud of the steaks that it offers it's guests as there are pictures all around the restaurant, I would normally have had fillet steak , but as this was not available, I opted for a sirloin which they recommended medium rare, to say I was disappointed was an understatement, my steak was very tough and chewy and full of gristle, I just could not eat most of it. I did complain to the waitress and received £10 of the final bill. But for £49 for just the steak you expect it to be perfect, don't you? That said my wife who is a vegetarian, thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I am sure this was just an unfortunate experience and it will not deter us from ever using The Hall again.

Received a friendly warm welcome . Efficient prompt service. Very good food with generous portions. Nice rustic furniture and surroundings. Extensive menu. Very reasonable prices for the area and well worth the cost of lunch.

Found Rocket down little Hereford back street. Went in and found a seat. Ordered two Goats Cheese, pesto and cranberry flat bread wraps. My wife went to the toilet - not good - clearly hardly ever cleaned - dirty, dusty, toilet seat broken !! If we had gone in there before ordering we would not have eaten there…..always tell a place by its toilets. Throughout our time eating there was, on a table right near us, a young boy (clearly related to one of the staff) he was eating a McDonalds and for the whole 30 minutes was watching videos on a phone at high volume !! Others came in and were clearly bothered by it. Shame - the food was pretty good. Staff not friendly.

Ordered the butter chicken baguette, butter chicken bowl with pasta and a southern fried chicken & fries bowl. The food was very very nice and tasty, the butter chicken had a smokey taste to it as if the chicken had been cooked on coals. Really enjoyed the food and will be returning very soon!

A delicious meal served by charming staff in a beautiful period building.

Great place if you like sport or if you like outdoor gardens weather permitting don't do food

Lovely Sunday lunch at great prices in our local pub. Reasonable wine prices (and French to boot), great beer and lagers and superb roast dinner (beef, pork or turkey). Not to mention my pâté starter. We didn’t have room for a dessert. Next time! Thanks team.
