Caffi Gwynant

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd, <20£
15/11/2020: As always, Cafe Gwynant never disappoints, and this trip was as enjoyable as ever. We loved the care and safety measures being taken for the protection of staff and clients alike. The new "pods" outside (pictured)are an excellent addition, providing both social distancing measures as well as protection from the Welsh weather. The staff were kind enough to find us a seat inside, although the table was reserved for a later time arrival. We enjoyed a lovely hot cappuccino perfect as usual, and I had a sausage bagel, while my husband, who has coeliac disease, was delighted with his ham and cheese roll, served with home made coleslaw and crisps on a small tray, to protect it from contamination by wheat based items being served. Very reassuring, when it is so important to take care. We love this cafe, and try to visit when ever we are in the area because the food is always of high quality, beautifully presented and served by friendly and attentive staff. I would reccomend this cafe to everyone, except that if everyone knew about it, we will never get a seat!!Keep up the excellent work guys !!
22/10/2020: The bagels were wonderful. Just what we needed for lunch half way through our walk. Service was great and everywhere was clean and safe. Lovely staff

Chippy Dre

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
13/02/2021: You might have to wait a few minutes for you fish to be cooked fresh for you but you won’t be disappointed. Best in the area
31/10/2020: Yes, I agree with other customers. Very greasy. It was dripping through the cardboard box onto my lap. Still, nice fish and chips but please drain the oil ! Saw 2 other people in the shop, with no mask. Why serve them ? Napkins and forks were free for all to take so did not touch either. Not covid safe and please drain off the grease before serving. We know much better fish and chip shops in our area than this. Over rated.

Cafe Glendwr & Glaslyn Ice Cream

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
22/10/2020: Had an amazing pizza, made with local blue cheese and was so tasty! The pizza base was the best I have had in so long and our little pug was allowed in too, Very friendly staff, very tentative and super tasty food and Walsh beers and ciders, highly recommend! Thank you!
21/10/2020: First time visiting here, the pizzas were excellent, great local produce used for menu and great reasonable prices. My only issue in why I haven’t given this place a 5 is the high usage of single use plastic cups, cutlery etc which isn’t good for the environment considering the beautiful area this restaurant is located

Prince Llewelyn Hotel

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
14/12/2020: After trying to find a nice cafe to sit in from the rain and grab a bite to eat, we came across this pub and thought it looked very nice and christmassy. We entered the corridor soaked through, and was greeted by a member of staff. I felt that certain member of staff was quite cold towards us in the beginning. It was almost like she thought we were English and judged us straight away. She asked very bluntly "what tier" and "put your mask on" before even welcoming us properly. I then started speaking Welsh and she soon changed her tune. I find it very sad that it took me to speak the language to receive a bit of respect. The food was lovely and the cup of tea was very average and over priced (charged £2.50 for a pot and only received a cup). We also felt we were forced out of there as we had not asked for the bill, and it was brought to us as soon as we had finished our food. I understand times are difficult for all business, as I am part of one myself however, treating customers with disrespect will only cause an increase in loss of business. Lovely looking pub but unfortunately will probably not go again.**one lady was very lovely to us
13/12/2020: Having just packed up a soggy tent, me, my daughter and her boyfriend needed a chilled out meal. The Sunday lunch was fabulous and the staff were super friendly and explained all the COVID precautions. I felt really safe there, highly recommend a visit to anyone

The Golden Fleece

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
14/02/2021: Valentines take away meal. Fabulous!!! Very well organised. Polite staff and well organised. Although I had a 20 minute drive home, worried about the food going cold and stale. My concerns were unfounded. Starters were prawn cocktail and whitebait. Mains were lamb and turkey. Puds cheesecake and chocolate cake. All fabulous and very tasty. Best of all we didn’t have to cook it. A big thank you to all involved. We would definitely do this again. 10/10
08/12/2020: Nice meal, but Covid nonsense spoilt it a bit . Wife had a lasagne and I had a burger. Both nice meals

The Port Cafe Deli Restaurant

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
10/12/2020: We called on a cold day and the inside of the cafe was also cold. The food was average, though the chips seemed to be homemade and they were quite nice. I felt the tables were far too close together or at least people were being sat at adjacent tables, rather than leaving empty tables between different parties. In the current pandemic I would have felt safer with more distance between our table and the other tables, though I guess the place had been checked and legal requirements were met.
18/10/2020: We were travelling home in our motor home and wanted to stop for breakfast then spotted this place. We both said it was one of the best breakfasts we have ever eaten when out. And that is a huge compliment from my husband! He had bacon, egg and toast and I had the port breakfast minus the tomato and beans. My coffee was lovely, as was my husbands cup of tea. Really lovely. Bought a quiche from the deli for later, and again delicious. Puzzled to read some negative reviews as we can be quite particular! Also felt very safe during the current climate. 10/10 from us!

The Saracens Head Hotel

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
30/10/2020: Would not come here again, staff were abrupt and rude, one evening lady of staff insisted on wearing hilarious stripy clown pants, and kept making sexualy suggestive comments about her hands being tied. This is clearly some kind of clown fetish bandage swinger establishment.
