Great ambience and quality food

Nice little cafe had 2 hot drinks and 2 scones with cream and jam really nice food value for money and quiet busy even on a Sunday afternoon

Fast friendly service, a good breakfast as it should be

Staff were attentive and very pleasant Reasonable food although the battered cod wasn’t fully cooked and the dessert, whilst nice was a bit small The biggest issue was almost complete lack of wheelchair accessiblity I had to perch on the end of a table which I accept but I then completely blocked an aisle, couldn’t even turn around afterwards so had to back out all the way And to top it all, couldn’t get to the toilets at all because the doorway to the corridor (let alone the toilet) wasn’t wide enough to get through I know this place has a huge footfall n summer so I simply will not be the only person with the problem Not really good enough in 2025

I've definitely been here twice now, both times with my 'mate' Carl. He's a person worth knowing in my opinion. We came back because the location is good, the food is good, good is good. The service is also quick, which is good. Both times we visited we ordered the burgers and chips (we forgot to order the rather delectable onion rings the 2rd time). Very delicious, and the right amount of calories to set you up for a meaty walk around some of the very best parts of Wales. There are tables for eating outside, which we used the 1nd time. I didn't have time to sample the toilet facilities unfortunately. I assume they are good. Diolch!

Excellent. The staff here have always been really friendly when me and my partner and sometimes friends come here. The chefs have always been happy to swap out mushroom from the vegetarian breakfast for extra egg or tomato. The sausages are Glamorgan sausages which are cheese, potato and onion. More natural than an UPF sausage. Maybe not to everyone’s liking but I like them. The staff have always been efficient. The restaurant is always spotless - the menu sheets are kept clean, the sauce bottles and salt and pepper are always really clean, table tops etc, one of the reasons we keep going back. The price seems very reasonable to us, I’ve never seen a vegetarian breakfast cheaper than this by more than a few pence anywhere. I recommend The Port to everyone!

Exceptional food and service, I would totally recommend to all.

We had 2 breakfasts 1 vegetarian 1 Port special, to say it was disappointing was an understatement, we paid £9.75 each. The waitress spoke to us in welsh even after we replied to her in English, when asked if we could swop out the bacon it was a flat out no. Hence 2 bacon wasted, The vegetarian sausages were disgusting definitely the worst we have tried so more wasted food. Would I recommend this over priced very disappointing breakfast, no I would not. There are lots of loverly cafes in Porthmadog unfortunately this isn’t one of them .

Fabulous little cafe. The food is delicious and you can take dogs in as an added bonus. Not too expensive. Staff are lovely.

The staff are friendly the food is very good and good value for money. My wife and I occasionally try one of the other places to eat when we visit Porthmadog, but the Port Cafe is a place that we return to time after time. You of course have the added bonus of the Deli that sells all of the usual things as well as some of the pies and produce that you can eat in the restaurant. Thoroughly recommended.

After just driving for 4hrs, we was ready for lunch. Found this place and browsed the menu. The choices were amazing, being a fussy eater, I had no probs choosing something. Although we were told there's a wait for food, it didn't seem it. The table service was good, although it tickled me to see one young gentleman server wearing work boots with steel toe caps on show....didn't quite suit the atmosphere but put a smile on my face. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Lovely food and a wide range of different breakfast options. Swift service despite being very busy. Beautiful options for cake, looked appetising and certainly lived up to expectations.

Chose to have two Port Specials which included a pot of tea for two, I asked not to have the egg or beans on my breakfast, ok I still had to pay the listed price but I thought it was still very good value, two sausages, two rashers of bacon, two hash browns, two slices of toast and the tea of course, all served very quickly by very friendly staff, a good choice for us.

This place has got all bases covered. Restaurant area for plated meals and traditional service, Cafe area (dogs allowed) for snacks, cakes, desserts and hot and cold drinks. Can get very busy but well staffed and run like a well oiled machine.

Port Cafe is a large place Lots of staff all keeping busy and doing a great job keeping things moving and looking after customers. The food was gorgeous! We were on holiday and this was the best place we ate we will be back for more! Great customer service.

Ordered fish chips & peas for just under £15, childs chicken nuggets chips & beans for just under £8 fish was lovely , the chips and nuggets was awful horrible taste and smell to the chips chicken nuggets was vile , very disappointed I will not eat there again .

Good food, great portion sizes & friendly staff. I had prawn salad: loads of prawns, marie rose sauce, lettuce & peppers, potato salad, large scoop of coleslaw, beetroot, tomatoes, cucumber, curried rice salad, pickled onions. A massive plateful all for under £12, spot on!

Visited twice in the last month both on different trips to this region. Both times it has been on a wet soggy day both times the place has been extremely busy. Food in deli good. Quick service. Tables tidied efficiently Highly recommend

Foods good but a little expensive

Went for a meal, ordered the all day breakfast. The food was excellent as always. The staff as always, were polite,friendly and helpful.

The only restaurant that I want to dine in when I go to Porthmadog. Nice place, and the foods are good.

Great café Friendly staff, can't do enough to help,, they open earlier, which is a massive bonus for people like ourselves heading into the area for work or people on holiday looking for breakfast,,, large choice within the seating area and takeaway area, well worth a visit.

Lovely staff good food good prices

We went there a few times for breakfast and lunch during our holidays. The food is nice and the prices are correct. What surprised me is the amount of staff and the fact that most of them looked happy to work there, it made for a fast and pleasant service.

Visited with 5 family members whilst on holiday in Porthmadog, very disappointed with all of the food, the staff however were helpful. Sausage, egg and chips was like a kids meal, roast was salty with overcooked frozen veg and chewy beef. Cakes were bland. Great service but cheap food at near restaurant prices.

Absolutely fantastic. We had the daily roasts we could not fault them… well unless you complain there is too much lol.we will certainly come back.

Great Cafe staff very helpful and friendly and it was packed

A really well run place to eat with tasty food, good value and friendly staff. We were a big group of 13 and went in for breakfast before hopping on the steam train. We were in a bit of a rush but this was no problem for these guys. They rearranged tables for the group and a great breakfast was served up in a flash. They provided takeaway cups for our hot drinks to run to the train with and effortlessly made us feel welcome. Very impressive. Thank you 👏

We popped in this place not having much confidence of it being at all good. We had passed it several times & just thought no we could call somewhere else. WRONG in every possible way, it was clean, well staffed & an urgency to deliver. We both had an all day breakfast Absolutely amazing in everway everything tasted lovely on the plate, I don't like hash browns but i couldn't believe this one actually tasted lovely & a huge pot of tea too. Spent more money in other places on the high street with huge disappointment, never again. This is number one.

Fab café, big portions. When they ask "veg or chips" go for the veg. It includes both mash and roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese plus other veg in big piles. "Chips" is a bucket of chips plus peas. Our kids absolutely loved it and asked that I write this 5-star review.

5 Star Food. I had the Breakfast, it was exceptionaI. I highly recommend this place. Plenty of inside and outside seating. I would eat there again if I was visiting Porthmadog.

The staff were absolutely lovely nothing was too much trouble! The food was gorgeous! We were on holiday and this was the best place we ate! BRAVO! we will be back for more! X

What a dreadful place. Never ate such horrendous food. Would not feed it to pigs let alone humans.

What a perfect place to find for breakfast. Had the special and it was delicious. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a cooked breakfast.

We decided to find a place for breakfast on route after leaving Barmouth that morning and heading towards our next stop Llanberis. Porthmadog was a logical place to stop and as we entered the town we spotted the this café, parking around the corner in the carpark (we had to pay!). The service was good and it was a busy place, always a good sign, and we were not disappointed with our decision to have breakfast here. Food arrived after a short wait (well it was busy) and the cooked breakfast did not disappoint, no skimping on quality or quantity. It also included the drink (I had tea). Will use again if in Porthmadog in the future.

My wife is Coeliac, and though they don't offer anything gluten free, they do however allow my wife to bring her own bread every week when we go for breakfast, they also go out of their way to make sure her food is cooked separately to avoid cross contamination, we go every week, and will continue to do so, staff are very polite, friendly and extremely helpful, especially the chefs.

Popped in on a rainy afternoon for lunch. Menu is expansive and has something for everyone. It was extremely busy but the service was excellent and was spotlessly clean. Everyone enjoyed the food - my kids were particularly taken with the toad in the whole announcing it was the best lunch they’d ever had! Considering they’re quite fussy eaters it must’ve been very good. Grown up meals also very good - omelette and a jacket potato. Nicely presented and good sized portions. Good honest food - will return when we’re up that way next.

We always eat here when we come to Porthmadog because of the variety and good quality of the menu choices. Great food and friendly staff. Welsh lamb's liver is particularly excellent with lovely rich gravy for dunking chips. July 2024 update: it's still an excellent place to eat, and again I had a very tasty Welsh lamb's liver and bacon. My companions had scampi and chips which were also very well received.

Great breakfast at the right price

Called in for lunch whilst we were at Porthmadog, loverly cafe/restaurant, had one of the nicest roast dinners i have had for a long time! Great friendly staff and all the food looked and was delicious would highly recommend!

Great location for those arriving on one of the heritage trains to Porthmadog. Port Cafe is a large place with lots of space. We were shown to the rear dining room which is spacious and ideal for accomodating dogs. Food was great quality and served quickly and efficiently. We had Chicken Curry - excellent quality chicken and well judged level of spice, the the optional side of naan and poppadoms. Others had Fish and Chips and Roast Turkey dinner, the last of which was a super generous portion. Good value for money. Lots of staff all keeping busy and doing a great job keeping things moving and looking after customers.

Best breakfast we've had this week while staying nearby in hafan ya mor. Staff made sure everything was OK for us.

Called in for breakfast .We had the Port Breakfast & the Port special with coffees. Food looked and tasted great Later called in for take out scotch egg, jam & cream scone & lemon meringue pie-all very tasty

Visited yesterday with wife All staff were pleasant and very friendly Food was excellent I had the Welsh lambs liver with chips Wife had the gammon and chips Both meals were very tasty and great value Liver was very tender, I know that it maybe an acquired taste, but this was lovely and the onion gravy was the colour of stout Chips were crispy on outside, fluffy on inside Wife’s gammon was also a very satisfying meal All in all, great value and will definitely be in again during our stay Thank you

Lovely clean restaurant with friendly staff. The breakfast was really lovely and the prices were good. I can especially recommend their freshly squeezed orange juice. Worth a visit

Although the menu is designed for holiday-makers, the quality of the food and the service are refreshingly good. There is definitely value for money here.

Great cafe, open nice and early for a very tasty breakfast. The cakes look amazing, I've not tried them yet. Soon though. Friendly service. Very clean. I've been several times now and it has delivered every time.
