Ordered 2x fish and chips, steak pie. Fish weren't freshly cooked but reheated, batter not crispy. Chips ok. The pie was hard on the bottom and again seemed reheated. Food very disappointing and certainly not worth the price the way it was served.

We stopped for some lunch here during our holiday. The full breakfast was delicious and my husband was pleased to see black pudding. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

What wonderful find. nestled at the Harbour Station end of the Ffestiniog Railway - Spooners! Went in for breakfast and there was a simple selection of meat and veggie choices. The Veggie breakfast with the Glamorgan Sauces star of the show was a great start to the day.. Latte was good and service warm and welcoming. Thankyou.

Only popped in for a drink and snack. Lovely and warm on a cold day. Place was quite busy even though the trains weren't running.

We only had drinks, although food that we saw being served looked very nice. Drinks are a great price considering it is location and aimed at tourists.

Sunday carvery- the beef was soooo tender with lots of choice of veg and good gravy. A very relaxed atmosphere and good value for money.

Fantastic food at good prices. The gammon meal was really good and plentiful. Great chips and onion rings with fresh pineapple. Gooseberry and apple dessert was something different and delicious. Great pint of locak brew Purple Moose as well. Then there is the sea and mountain view from the steam railway station. So good, we'll be back tomorrow.

Busy local pub on historic Ffestiniog Railway

If you like steam trains and you want to sit and watch them pull in and out with a tasty fresh cooked meal or snack you can't do better.

It was a busy time, lots going on with the trains coming and going. A good atmosphere. It is very popular

Good choice of lagers, beers including real ales and ciders. Also a good range of sandwiches and meals served. Popular in the evenings.

Fantastic staff clean good choice of beers ciders wines and spirits good pint and pricing considering it helps the railway and supports tourism in Porthmadog very good , food was Excellent although maybe a bit more choice for People with eating disorders ie plain stuff but that only quarm , access for wheelchairs scooters excellent would definitely go back

Lovely place, not really much on the menu for people like me with eating problems but I asked for something different and they couldn’t do more to accommodate when they had staff! Managed to get a table, service was good, enjoyed our food so much so that we can back 2 days later for lunch.

Food was good. We had just got off the train and thought we would give it a try. Food was fine and enjoyable and service reasonably quick. Only negative was that we felt the beer wasn't cold enough.Would we go back? Yes Also had a coffee earlier which was also good.

Nice station cafe, pub with good food & drink. Had enjoyable steak meals in the evening with poretti beer & Welsh cider. Used also in the day before and after train trip for snacks, drinks.

We were staying within 5 minutes walk of the railway and Spooners Grill, Cafe and Bar. The first time we went, we called in for a drink after our train ride and decided to have panini. They were delicious, served with a nice amount of salad too. We also went to here for a couple of evening meals - both times, it was delicious, staff were attentive and friendly. We felt very welcome here!

Great friendly service for nice hot coffee and fair price

A disappointing trip, after booking a table for family with dad in a wheelchair we like to be organised, when we got there we were turned away with a shrug and no table, the booking was down in the book, but apparently staff shouldn't have booked us in. We did however have a lovely fish and chips from All Ports Fish and Chips, thank you ladies for our lunch

You have to go up and get ur own drink go and order food at counter and get your own sugar and milk might as well served myself

Great spot, by the railway station

Wonderful cafe attached to the Ffestiniog Railway Station. The coffee was good and sustained me throughout my visit. The staff maintained their composure throughout, something I'm not sure that I'd be able to do,especially with the Karens from America whining and complaining about everything. For it was a pleasant retreat where I could sit to upload my photos from the day's shoot.

Possibly the best cafe I've ever been to. Not only do they serve great coffee (and cakes, sandwiches etc)*, but you're treated to a variety of steam engines passing by on the platform! * I'm pretty sure they do Sunday lunches too, but check before setting off!

A great place for a mealorjustadrink. Sit outside and watch the steam trains come and go. The menu is varied and changes depending on the day you visit. Kid's menu. Closed on Monday for evening meals.

Ordered 3 meals out of the 3 only 1 was what we ordered one was a cheese and onion panini ended up with bacon . Also a cheese and beans jacket potato it arrived without the cheese, couldn't even get basic meals correct dread to think what we would have got if we had ordered something more complicated. Will not be going back

Two visits this week; the first featured good food and service. Unfortunately, on the following day, fish and chips had excellent fish but appalling chips and the service was poor (a different team to the first day). Should do better!

Sunday Lunch My (Welsh) mother always told me to say nothing of I had nothing positive to say. So with regard to the Sunday lunch buffet.. The beef looked nice.

We have lived locally to Porthmadog for the past 7 years and are members of both the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog Railway Societies who often dine at Spooners both when taking train rides and just wanting somewhere to eat out. We are ardent supporters of the 2 Railways and have, in the past, enjoyed eating at "Spooners" partly as a way of further supporting the 2 railways. Last Thursday 21st July, as it was a lovely sunny day when we were doing our weekly shop in Porth I suggested to wife that we could go and sit outside at Spooners and enjoy the view over the estuary during lunch. We arrived at about 1.00pm and the station was "buzzing" with passengers embarking and disembarking from trains on both lines. What an opportunity for the Railways to pick up a lot of extra revenue in "Spooner" I thought. However, we were to be VERY disappointed. Although lunch was advertised when I enquired there was no full lunch menu only light bites which could have chips as a side order. We had hoped for the culinary delights that we have frequently sampled at "Spooners" on many occasions but not on this occasion. We ordered a minute steak panini with a side-order of chips for me. The food arrived reasonably promptly but was disappointing. Although the paninis were full of tender pieces of steak these were only luke warm which spoilt the meal. The staff were polite and helpful but we went there for an enjoyable meal. My chips were well-cooked and the salad was okay. We were VERY disappointed having taken the trouble to park in the main car park and walk to "Spooners". Our option that day was to go to either "Spooners" or, as we often do, buy fish and chips from "All Ports" chip shop and eat them sitting on the nearby river bank - we definitely made the WRONG choice. Will we being going again? Definitely NOT unless the standard and breadth of food improve greatly. I know that there is a local staff recruitment crisis locally but after 2+ years of hearing that excuse from "Spooners" it is wearing VERY thin. I know that the management of "Spooners" will probably reply with regret citing the staff recruitment problems. However, our experience makes us sad in 2 ways. Firstly we did not enjoy the meal. Secondly as the peak Summer season has begun the Railway Societies are wasting the wonderful opportunity to raise badly-needed funds for the railways. I am certain that if "Spooners" reverted to its "glory days" as a Grill Restaurant serving full meals from an imaginative menu at reasonable prices it would make far more revenue than it is currently doing as a glorified (?) cafe offering overpriced snacks and drinks. I am confident that many faithful local customers and visitors would agree with me. I would like to finish by saying that I worked in the catering industry for a number of years and know what a good, albeit modest restaurant should look like. I desperately regret being unable to write a glowing review, as I have done frequently in the past,but I hope that our disappointment will prompt an improvement at "Spooners."
