Stunning location with some good facilities including the pizza shed. Disappointing 'pitch' for the motorvans. Felt more like an area for overflow parking that had power sockets added and turned into 5 pitches. Recommend booking pitch one which is isolated so much more private. Also, watch out for DofE groups who take over the kitchen area, spread their dirty wet kit on the work surfaces as well as sitting on them....Thank you Pates Grammar school for your consideration of other campers!

I am not sure where to start with this site. Let’s start with the fact I paid £46.50 a night for our motorhome, which is at the premium end of the scale. What we got was a drop dead gorgeous location with amazing views. What we also got was a crappy bit of mud to park on, the most dreadful facilities I have seen on a site for a long time (filthy toilets, no hot water in dishwashing area, grubby and filthy showers etc.), the list goes on. We booked for 2 nights and left after one, it was horrible. Adding insult to injury, all of the extras! £7 a night for electric, £3 a night per dog, £5 a night for a larger vehicle and to top it all a £5 booking fee. The whole place looks like it needs a massive refurbishment and some serious investment in improving the facilities. Out of 8 places we stayed in in Wales on this trip this was by far the worst and the most expensive.

Lovely location, but unfortunately such a grim campsite, the most disgusting one any of us had ever stayed in. There are far, far too many people crammed in for the facilities to deal with. There is one male and one female toilet block with 6-7 toilets in each. Then there are a couple of strange toilet portacabin type things which are only opened at weekends. (We weren't there at the weekend, however it's impossible to imagine how any more people could be crammed onto this site.) The toilets are only cleaned once a day, so being used by hundreds of people you can imagine how absolutely filthy they are. We're talking massively overflowing bins, skanky basins, wet muddy floors. Not to mention the utter, utter stench. If you like a queuing up for 15 minutes to go to the toilet, this is the place for you. You'll emerge, eyes streaming, dry heaving, due to the utter stench of a toilet block under strain. The atmosphere is off too, it's not a friendly place, staff have a real edge to them, felt unwelcome throughout. Apparently the staff have bodycams now?! Not surprised, they have zero people skills, visitors are dirt to them, definitely not worth being pleasant to. I don't know how they keep their license with toilet facilities like that. Perhaps if people made their experience known to Gwynedd Council (gwnedd.llyw.cymru ) who issue their license, maybe some improvements could be made.

We went to the campsite for the first time and the staff could not have been more welcoming. We weren't blessed with good weather on our weekend, but the views were absolutely stunning. We are looking forward to our next trip there when we hope to take our kayak out on the lake and explore the crystal clear river that feeds it. I wholeheartedly recommend this place, it does not disappoint.

Omg this is one of the best camp sites ever.. not only do you get a lake but also a river/stream that runs at the base of the mountain.and feed from a Hydro dam. A great place as a base camp for starting Watkins Path (infinity pools) and also Peny pass .they have hot food and daily kitchen specials to help if your not up for cooking .electric hooks up if needed a laundry point and place to charge phones .decent showers and cleaned toilets. Try and get there before the wknd as it gets really busy.and have a walk around before seeing up camp as you might get a spec by the stream

we've probably got a slightly different review of this campsite than most. we visited during late july/early august, so we knew it would be busy holiday time. the campsite is in a very beautiful spot and is very handy of you going to climb snowdon. on the positive, the lake is lovely (and extremely shallow and safe) and there's a wonderful river snaking down the side too, and they rent out kayaks, canoes and paddleboards (though only during a relatively short window between noon and 4pm). on the downsides, the campsite was crazy busy when we visited - i appreciate they're making the most of the summer but we wouldn't go back unless they limited the numbers of campers to a greater extent. and the cars are all parked on the edges of each field so the view from your site often resembles a car park more than the actual beauty of the site. better if they were in a separate field. the site does seem to attract a lot of younger folk. i hope they have a great time but i wouldn't bring my young family back here. listening to shouting and swearing in the early hours of the morning wasn't a lot of fun (the night warden clocks off at midnight). and we just didn't find it very friendly or well organised. the pizza place has a blackboard up saying they serve breakfast from 07.30. so on the first night we were happy not to have supplies for brekkie as we planned to go there. but it only serves breakfast outside school holidays (go figure!), but they can't be bothered to change or cover the board. i suggested this to them politely and got a shrug. the showers and ablutions close for several hours in the middle of the day. to buy logs you have to queue in the food queue, which takes an age. it just generally felt like they couldn't really be bothered. hey, it's a beautiful place. would i go outside of the mayhem of school holidays? maybe; it's certainly a great spot and the watersports are fun. but, on balance, probably not.

Excellent campsite- We stayed 3 times in the past 5 years. Lots of improvements were made since our last visit. Pros: 1. Family Friendly 2. NOT overcrowded 3. Well organised, patrols were carried out regularly 4. Excellent facilities (cashless washing and tumble drying, instant hot water, microwaves, plenty of sinks for dish washing, freezer, phone charging station and plenty of toilets and showers, including a disable toilet/shower and outside open shower) 5. Very near to Snowdon paths 6. Boat hiring options 7. Helpful and friendly staff members.(thats the utmost priority for customers) 7. MOST DELICIOUS PIZZA and Coffee in Wales. 8. Free wifi. Our suggestions: 1. Extending the operating hours of the semi-portable toilets l- maybe from 9 PM to 9 AM, instead of the current 11 PM to 7 AM schedule. 2. Install at least 2 or 3 Shower facilities nearby to the Semi Portable Toilets. 3. Install some low wattage PIR lights on public paths (for example from the EHU pitch no 85 area to the cafe) as it's extremely dark during the night. 4. Cafe: Introduce halal food options in the cafe menu.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Unless you hate having fun and enjoying yourself. A picturesque location, but under the thin veil of the internet lies trouble in paradise. Imagine turning up to see staff wearing body cameras. I thought nothing of it at first until I witnessed the aggressive, rude and inappropriate nature that the management operate. Me and my family were made to feel like criminals rather than guests. Bearing in mind I have 12 years+ experience in management and my wife runs a luxury hospitality business this is by far the worst service/hospitality I have ever witnessed in my life and an embarrassment to the industry in general. Bear in mind the campsite is crowded, dirty and facilities filthy. We have camped for years and their standards are extremely poor. If the team focused as much energy on disgruntling their customers as they did in their campsite hygiene standards then I’m sure this would be an amazing holiday destination. Unfortunately their focus is on the wrong thing and their team culture is highly toxic. You only need to read this campsites responses on trip advisor to all their 1 star reviews to customers to understand their horrendous attitude towards people in general. Can I recommend some reading for you and your team - “how to make friends and influence people” would be a good start. An overwhelmingly example of how NOT to run any business.

A great campsite in a beautiful setting and only a 5 -10 minute drive to Pen-y-pass. Plenty of space in a number of areas where you can pitch where you wish. Llyn Gwynant lake is massive and ideal if you like wild swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding etc with decent sized beach areas. The onsite food outlets are good value with varying menus throughout the week, although pizzas are available everyday. Bar prices are reasonable too, with a pint of Wrexham lager and a pint of Snowdon cider coming in at just over £11. We only stayed for one night but we took advantage of the fire pits and bought some kindling, firelighters and a bag of logs for £11 which lasted for a few hours. Would definitely recommend the early arrival surcharge of £10 as we were able to get ourselves a decent pitch at 11am and then go off to Snowdon, because by the time we returned at 6pm there had been a lot of new arrivals and space was limited. Facilities are clean and pleasant and regularly maintained. Definitely recommend Llyn Gwynant campsite if you are planning on camping in Snowdonia and want something that offers more than just a field and a portaloo.

This is a beautiful campsite in an incredible location which still feels wild and unspoilt despite actually having loads of extras. You can swim in the lake and river. You can get up in the morning, climb Snowdon, come back down and get a takeaway pizza to your tent (decent price and quality). You can kayak and canoe and bike right from the site, come back, have a beer from the bar, a fire with their firewood, then sleep in peace and quiet without people making noise all night. It's everything I could want from a campsite. My kids loved every minute. They would come back again in a heartbeat. If you want to make noise, go somewhere else. If you don't actually like nature, go somewhere else. If you want half campsite, half hotel, go somewhere else. This is a fantastic place if you like simple camping, enjoy nature and outdoor activities, and want just a little bit extra convenience for your money.

This campsite was very beautiful no matter the weather. It had both mountains and lake views which is lovely if nature is definitely your thing. The campsite is a good size and very accessible to get around. They facilitate are good with a cheap laundry room and a small shop with very basic essentials. It’s a lovely place to make new friendships with other campers as the tents can get close together if it’s busy but still feels nice and private. The renting for boat isn’t the best as it’s only 12-4 so would have to be on site all day. However the Pizza shop is lovely 10/10 pizzas and also vegan friendly!!

Beautiful campsite. I read reviews before we left and was worried with us being Scousers but the staff were great especially the guy who checked us in (dark hair, quite posh voice). The evening warden was polite when he came to remind us it had gone 11pm as we were talking quite loudly. He wasn't rude at all just said "just letting you know it's gone 11 folks". My only niggles are the prices - £8 for a jacket potato and they didn't have many fillings options i.e. no cheese and obviously the shop prices were extortionate but they have a captive market I suppose and I'm sure most places would do the same lol. Also the hand drier wasn't working in the ladies loos and other than one day they didn't put out any paper towels so there wasn't any hand drying facilities. Lovely campsite.

A good campsite and one I have wanted to stay at for a long time. The location on the lake is brilliant if you want to paddle/swim/kayak and if the weather is good. Facilities were good, plenty of showers and toilets. For the price per night though, it would be nice not to have to keep the shower button pressed constantly with one hand whilst attempting to wash hair with the other. Even just lasting a minute before a repress would be useful. Site was clean, no litter, and not noisy despite being pretty full. You are paying for the location and for a solo camper it was quite pricey so only stayed for one night. Don't understand the extra parking fee for a campervan when you've paid already for a campervan pitch. Pizza/bar was quite nice and a useful addition if you've travelled far and means you don't need to cook.

The campsite is very nicely located and the facilities are generally in order. However, during the weekend the campsite turns into a festival meadow and tents are pitched everywhere, causing noise pollution. Moreover, the facilities are not equipped for such a crowd. Location; very beautiful, walking trails from de site, swimming in the lake or river. In het middle of nature Service; friendly en helpful Hygiëne; not optimal, especially man toilet smells really bad. They clean between 11 and 12.30 but once a day is not enough. Sometimes it got really dirty and crowded. Probably also because of lots of young adults. Showers are ok. Campsite it self is great with a few big fields where you can put your tent. In the weekends however it got to crowded. The parkings were full. I think a maximum of visitors would be a wise idea. The naturally feeling of the site is gone when it looks like a festival area. All in all a beautiful and quiet spot in the middle of the mountains but attention to the toilets should be paid.

The best weekend of our lives was here at Gwynant Barns Wedding venue. The whole venue was absolutely perfect: the gorgeous barns which were so beautiful for our ceremony, dinner and dance floor. The amazing campsite with 360 degree views of the mountains. The quick one minute walk to a fresh lake we swam in every day. Steve was absolutely incredible, so calm, friendly and helpful. He ensured everything ran smoothly with our wedding and couldn’t have possibly been any more lovely, helpful and wonderful. We could have the venue for the whole weekend (even Sunday night) so we could hold our loved ones close for even longer. The tents (Bear Tents) were wonderful, so gorgeous, well decorated, comfy. It meant family who wouldn’t otherwise be able to come camping, could come to our wedding and be comfy in style! We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. Thank you Steve! After my honest review of this campsite on TripAdvisor I got a reply from the owners, and I was not surprised by it at all. Just like the replies they give to everyone, it was looping the blame back to the paying customers, and insinuating that I was the one that was pulled up on behaviour when in fact I only ever spoke to the staff ONCE in the 3 nights I was there, and it happen to be the rudest member of their staff. Dear owners of Llyn Gwynant Campsite, please stop being in denial and take on board the poor feedback you get from not just me, but many others and do something about it. Stop responding with gaslighting remarks, it's not helping your business.

Fantastic location . Everything else is rather to avoid. So busy that the tents literally are next to each other. The owner is focusing on earning money rather than the hospitality. The facilities are discussing. Always busy ans only few showers with cold water ( left side of the showers ) and very very dirty . The toilet is even worse as there are only few for hundreds of campers and cleaning once a day is definitely not enough. So far the worst campsite i have ever been. Can't recommend this place enough. We stayed for a few nights and were lucky to have beautiful weather and we really enjoyed the peacefulness of this site. The staff are really helpful and friendly, so definitely ask them if you need any local advice or walking tips. The shop on site is well stocked so you can pick up anything you forgot. Our pitch was clean and comfortable, right next to fresh and delicious cold water and an electric hook up which we paid extra for. It was lovely seeing baby bunnies hopping around and all the wild birds who are quite sociable. The lake is freezing and wonderful for a bracing swim. There are so many great walking trails close by including the Watkin Path where you can walk up to incredible waterfalls for swimming. The food hatch on site sells cold beers and food from 6 -8, which we enjoyed on our first night - the pizzas weren't great for the cost but they filled us up. The showers were nice and hot, and reasonably powerful, and the toilets were usually clean and heated in the evenings which was nice. Having used Llyn Gwynant as a base to explore elsewhere in Snowdonia during the day, the plan this year is to venture out more from the camp site itself. There’s various walking tracks which start from the campsite, which we’re excited to try now our kids are a little older. We look forward to our upcoming visit.

It's a lovely site In a great position, but I can't recommend it at a weekend. So, so busy. Although rules are given on check in - camp 6m apart, no music etc, they are not enforced at all. We had a large party set up about 2m from us playing music from their car and talking loudly and chopping wood until well past 11.30. we could hear music being played at other areas across the site too. There was at least a 4-5 person queue for the men's loos morning and night. Only 4 of 6 cubicles functional and the smell was not great. It wouldn't take much to make it an enjoyable experience. Drop the numbers by 15% and enforce the rules they have. Fix the loos. On the positive side, paddle boarding down the river and on the lake is lovely. Nice to be able to have fires. Close to the mountains for climbing and walking. I suspect mid week, outside school holidays it's fantastic, just a bit too greedy on numbers at weekends.

One of my favourite campsites. Have been coming here since 2001, and it's impossible to grow tired of waking up to the views. The coffee shop and pizza place on site are a nice touch, too. You can have campfires if you use the provided firepits, which are scattered around, and if you buy the wood on site, which is fair enough. Canoe and kayak hire is available, too, and the river and lake are great for paddling as well as swimming.

Review of Llyn Gwynant Campsite You arrive and everything seems ok, well its pretty much downhill from here 😝 the large campervan bays are great but the tent pitches are small and these are a mix of not so friendly campers and seasoned 1s that have a bit of sense, toilets are horrible, in the morning expect a 30 minute wait seriously not enough stalls (also unless your used to 80 grit sand paper bring your own TP) for the amount of people, showers have seen better days and the laugh is there closed from 1pm to 4pm and 11pm till 7am never in my life have I seen such service would be ok if they were actually cleaned through these times, the wardens are a mix of kids and some that are just not helpful the guy with long hair and the beard was helpful the others may as well been chocolate fire guards, I don’t like to put awful reviews but to me this site has potential but needs management

Rental kayaks were tatty, paddles had drip rings missing, was handed a wet life jacket, requested a dry one. Unlikely to return, it's much too expensive for what is there, just printing money.

Fantastic views on the lake, showers, toilets and food places are all available too on site. There's also a fairly well stocked shop (although quite expensive) where you can buy anything you might need.

Beautiful site. We loved the bar and food outlets. However this site was massively over-booked. Hard to find a parking space near tent. Didn’t enjoy having to join a long queue outside the toilets at 8am on a Sunday morning - this was men and women’s. Lots of school trips also there with teenagers totally taking over the washing up area as a hangout, to the point it was intimidating. Having said that, I would return but may be at a quieter time as may be we just caught it on a bad weekend.

Arguably the best campsite in Wales. I’ve been coming here since I could walk (literally) when they had nothing but a couple of Portaloos. Now the site has literally everything you could need.

We had visited Llyn Gwynant Campsite previously, and when we decided to get married, we couldn’t think of anywhere better. From the beginning, the friendliness of Danielle via email, and the kind and caring welcome from Steve on our first visit, we were amazed by the service that these barns provide. We had the barns from the Friday to the Monday – which we highly recommend as it allows you to really enjoy a wedding weekend away with your nearest and dearest. The location alone is stunning, especially on a clear day, and so our pictures are incredible from the amazing Love Adventure Photography. Our guests kept repeating over and over about how picturesque the venue was, and we magically got some sun! The barns are impressive, and huge, with beautiful ceilings and tall windows that make the inside views rival the outdoor ones – the painted windows are such a beautiful attention to detail. The facilities at the barn are just perfect for the venue. There are plenty of toilets (which were kept so clean by the staff), with lovely hot showers – this was great for guests to get ready, and also as facilities through the weekend. The morning of the wedding, we had all the guests getting ready together, and it really helped with building atmosphere and excitement! The kitchens are huge, and there is ample space for any food and drink that you bring with you, we also used the huge oven over the weekend to cook pizza for our guests. The campsite facilities are great too. Most of our guests used the café for breakfast over the weekend, and enjoyed it down by the lake – loads of options for everyone, and it was delicious! Now to the staff – who were absolutely amazing. Special thanks to Steve, for being the most amazing host for the weekend. Steve thought of absolutely everything, he helped with our music, our organisation for the day, and most importantly, put all our minds at ease on what is supposed to be a very stressful weekend, but he made it into such a relaxed and calm atmosphere. We cannot thank him enough for everything he did, he was truly a friend. On top of all that, he also provided our accommodation for the weekend, Bear Tents, which was our glamping village, and it was perfect. It allowed our guests to stay right next to the barn, and also allowed everyone to chill over the weekend. We had the honeymoon tent, and it was amazing. So super comfortable, warm, and with decorations that suited the venue perfectly. We felt so lucky. I would highly recommend this venue, as it felt like a fairy tale to get married here, and I wish I could relive it all over and over again. As much as I would like to keep this place a secret selfishly, I can only wish them busy seasons over and over again. Thank you Llyn Gwynant Barns, you made my dreams come true!

Nice campsite, we checked in late and left pretty early so didn’t really get a chance to take advantage of the facilities but they all seemed pretty good. We missed out on the pizzeria and pints as it closed around 8pm the time we visited, not sure of the opening hours get extended in the summer months.

What a beautiful weekend we had staying at Llyn Geynant Barns for a wedding last weekend. Stunning location, beautiful venue, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The owner couldn’t do enough for us when we were bombarding him with questions in our drunken state. If you’re a veggie or vegan they have options for food down by the beach campsite, to save you from heading into town. The toilets and showers were clean (cold, but clean - so wrap up warm if you’re venturing out during the night). As a whole, perfect PERFECT weekend. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and giving us an amazing and memorable weekend for our best friends wedding. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Expensive. Everything is extra. Pitch £26, fair enough, but if you want to book, it’ll cost you £5 and if you want to park a van on the pitch, it’ll cost you £5 and if you want electric, sorry, you have to have electric, even if you don’t want it, it’ll cost you £7. Just call it £43 a night 🙄

Found the staff to be a bit rude. Never checked me In properly then integrated me the following morning rather than check their bookings. Paid for 2 nights only stayed one but offered me no reimbursement. Brilliant location for snowdon to be fair though.

Spacious campervan spots with fire pit provided. Excellent location in the heart of Snowdonia with a direct route to climb Snowdon. Toilets adequate but showers excellent with plenty of hot water. There is an outdoor pub, pizzeria and cafe available for breakfast and dinner at weekends which I would recommend especially the Snowdon cider

Great location at the base of snowdon, but… When arriving and setting up tent, fields unclean and waterlogged with goose poo. Very deep potholes towards the campsite after the wedding reception road. Then after 2 days of camping, we received an “urgent” note - and went to reception as soon as we saw it. This was about us being camped out too near an EV post, which was subsequently resolved. Then the next day (our last night) around 10pm, the wardens accuse us of not responding - and lied saying they were at reception the entire previous night, so we couldn’t have spoken to them. Had to tell them both to look at CCTV. Even then they were asking us who was at reception as if they do not know the staffs’ shifts. Also completely understand the campsite cannot be clean over Easter but one of the weird designs was that every 2 showers was next to a toilet - which meant when showering, it reeked. The only thing we really appreciated was the site staff (not wardens) working throughout a busy weekend and answering any questions. Clearly a campsite that is very badly managed - they will overbook and then have no idea who is in the campsite.

Excellent facilities, very friendly staff, great food and drink and if you are looking to do Snowdon you are not far away. We had an amazing time and I'm looking to take my fiancé and daughter to stay here next time I'm in Wales.

As a photographer, discovering a wedding venue that not only complements but elevates the essence of a couple's special day is akin to finding a hidden treasure. Llyn Gwynant Barns is such a gem, nestled in the breathtaking landscape of Snowdonia National Park. The natural beauty surrounding Llyn Gwynant Barns is unparalleled. From the serene waters of the lake to the majestic rise of the surrounding mountains. It's truely a stunning place to hold a wedding and we've never had a bad experience. Steve & Danielle and the rest of the staff at Llyn Gwynant are just the friendliest and best people to work with. Each time I'm there it's like catching up with old friends. If you're looking for a proper North Wales wedding venue incorporating the majestic scenes and mountains, this is the venue for you.

Beautiful area around the campsite and delicious pizzas. However this felt more like a holiday park rather than a relaxing retreat to nature. It was heaving on the weekend we went - difficult to find a parking space, sometimes far from the pitch. This campsite is definitely guilty of overbooking as everything was so busy. Massive queues for food, drinks and showers. Toilets very dirty. Everything is fairly overpriced in the shop onsite. There was meant to be quiet talking after 11pm... However screaming kids going for it until well after midnight. And the wedding venue blasting music too. It is a very beautiful area, but there are much quieter and nicer places in the area I would rather go to. If you want a quiet weekend in nature, this isn't that campsite for it. Felt like a mini Benidorm in Snowdonia.

Stayed here a few times the past 2 years but won't be going back for a long time! Very busy and crowded, the only toilets open are at reception so if your near the river anywhere it's a massive walk in the middle of the night to go to the loo. They've had weddings on the times we have stayed and they are extremely noisy till beyond 2am - the function might have ended but the guests stay in tents behind the barn and they carry on and their screaming and shouting carries very easily to the site. Had noise issues throughout the night off other campers aswell as the venue noise, even though they claim "no noise after 11pm" nothing is ever done about it. For a little more money I can stay in a caravan park or a cottage etc and forget about noisy neighbours and a 5 min walk to the toilets at night!

I initially booked to stay at Llyn Gwynant campsite due to its prime proximity to Snowden trails. What I found was a fantastically run site with friendly and helpful staff and clean decent facilities, not to mention the beautiful views and tranquility- though I can imagine it being a lot busier/louder when not camping in late October 😅 Highly recommended.

Nice enough campsite with lovely scenery no argument for that but we left feeling like maybe we should not have bothered . think it's expensive campsite and overcrowded it's not proper camping at all didnt feel like camping to us. might do for those that barely camp but we live next to the peak district and we camp most weekends campsites are ten a penny take your pick , camp in beautiful woods or next to a enormous cave usually for less than ,£10 a night seemed like a waste of campsite money and fuel when we could have stayed local. Still you have to try these places.

My partner and I have been on the quest for the best gluten free pizza around. I think there is a strong chance we may have found it! Most pizza joints don’t even offer a gluten free base, or when they do it’s not up to much. Luke was very attentive regarding our requirements. The PIZZA was amazing! We will definitely be back for more!
