We stayed at the Golden Fleece in August for a wedding in Portmerion. We had a lovely stay here!! We had breakfast included by booking directly with them. The food at breakfast was amazing and we ate at the inn for our first evening there and the portion sizes were massive!! Definitely would return when we come back to the area.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Booked beforehand. Found the hotel reception in the restaurant area, which wasn't ideal as people were in & out. It wasn't clear about what to do so we just joined the queue. We were promptly shown to our table & ordered our drinks. The drinks arrived in good time. So, we sat, sat & sat waiting. Nobody came to take our food order so, we went to reception to order our meals. We were told that someone would come to take our order, and she did. We finally got our food over an hour from our booking time & then it didn't all arrive at the same time. Sides & childs meal came later. Other customers who arrived after us didn't seem to have a problem. Their food arrived before ours. The response for our long waiting time was that they were short staffed. An apology was offered but no empathy was shown. I feel that our meals had been forgotten or mixed up with someone else's. The staff need to communicate better with their customers.

Booked here by telephone last minute on a Monday evening to take two adults and two golden retrievers. Arrived on time, allocated a two seat table near the door to the bar (we were last minute so can’t complain) but plenty of space for the dogs to lie down. I was all set to have the curry of the day, until my wife pointed out the specials menu had pan fried lambs liver and onions so decided on that - what a choice! It took about 35 mins to be served but as soon as it arrived I could tell by the smell and presentation that this was going to be good! Plenty of liver, very nicely cooked, crispy bacon rasher, mash and gravy and some proper roasted parsnips - not the small Aunt Bessie’s type, but proper big ones, all perfectly cooked. It turns out that the chef has been playing with the special menu and debating adding liver to the menu full time - go for it! Perfect autumn meal with a pint of cider. We have booked another dog friendly table for this coming Friday in the hope that it’s still on the menu!

I stayed at the Golden Fleece from 7th - 11th September. Having sadly lost my husband Chris earlier this year I wanted to go somewhere special for our anniversary on 10th September so I chose the Golden Fleece at Tremadog as we had stayed 3 times previously and it was one of Chris’s favourite places to stay. On arrival I was checked in by Marilyn the manager who knew my situation and when I got to my room she had a box of chocolates in there for me very thoughtful. The rooms are lovely, the food is outstanding and the cocktails are amazing, but the thing that makes the Fleece an amazing place to stay, eat, or drink is Marilyn and her team having worked in hospitality for many years I can honestly say this is one of the best teams I have ever known. They are all friendly, helpful and willing to make your visit enjoyable. They looked after me so well travelling solo for the first time I never felt alone I even had a lovely Welsh cwtch from one of the housekeepers . Marilyn thank you so much to you and all of your team you all made my stay very special. See you all next year.

4 hungry people and a dog arrived soon after the climb to Snowdon. Lovely staff. Starters all good: squid, whitebait, halloumi fries. Mains: - chicken madras: average -chicken burger: looked like 2 nuggets in the burger, inadequate. Good chips -pasta with chicken/mushrooms: good -sea bass : excellent. Mentioned to staff about the inadequate burger. Sticky toffee pudding was great. Would return, but guys put some chicken in your burger, what a shame.

One or two minor bits incorrect but the staff sorted these straight away and made our visit excellent! The communication to book this table with the team was excellent! We ordered the Calamari rings which were beautiful, I had the cheese and bacon burger which was really nice and then the cheescake for dessert. MIL and Wife had sea bass which they also remarked was very tasty. The drinks menu is extensive but the house cocktails are affordable and tasty. Overall great experience, service was friendly and prompt but we went at a quieter time. Good for couples or families.

What a huge disappointment, on arrival we were given 2 menus between 5. They asked us sit at a table of 4 which I pointed out there are 5 of us! We waited and waited for drinks in the end 20 minutes before I eventually said can we order now. Then another 15 minutes on top of that for then to arrive. My starter arrived ( wasn't great) then before I'd finished my main was out, the waitress was taking my plate as I was eating of it! Food was below average no flavour and over cooked. My sister is vegan and ordered from the menu which stated vegan, there was no vegan option for her choice very confusing! Service was soooo slow and we had to ask each time to order etc. The toilets were disgusting 🫣 too. Staff were frazzled and did apologise because it was busy, but I only saw 8 tables occupied!!!! Definitely won't visit again which is a shame as we normally come every year!

We didn't stay over so can't comment on room's. We had our reservations booked for our evening meal for 6.15pm. Early because we had over a 2 hour drive back to Manchester and we had our fluff babies with us. Our drinks order was with us in no time, but our food almost took 2 hour's!! Really don't know why it took so long, but they were very apologetic and offered a free drink to compensate, some of us couldn't because we were driving! The meals were okay. The salmon pasta didn't have that much salmon, in fact it was cod! The Inn itself was very nice, parking wasn't adequate, we had to drive up the hill and find spaces on the main road. I'm sure we were just a bit unlucky on this occasion. We did experience a friendly service.

I think it must have changed hands since our visit, the place gets good reviews but we felt that the food was (a little microwaved). When our main course was delivered I tried to order a drink from the waitress who declined my order and asked me to go to the bar. Very odd because only three tables occupied and two waitresses serving food. I didn't want my food to go cold so didn't bother with a drink. Don't think I will return.

Enjoyed another great Sunday lunch at The Golden Fleece. Booking certainly advised - saw some walk ins unable to get food. Good selection of Sunday meals, including a platter for two although we heard thos had "sold out". Our beef was delicious and was accompanied with a good selection of vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. After a little break we ordered desert, both of which were very tasty (although the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was enough for three!). The best Sunday lunch we've found in the area and further afield; we'll be booking for next week.

Booked for Sunday lunch for a family of 6 (4 adults, 2 children, 2 dogs). We booked our table months in advance. On arrival we were shown to our table which was clearly a table for 4 people but set for 6. When I queried this with staff. I was told it was a 6 person table. We had to move a chair to the end to accommodate us all. When the food arrived it was clearly evident we could not all sit around the table comfortably. The food was average. Childrens choice was poor. Flat beer. On finishing our meal, no plates were cleared and a member of staff started sweeping up around us. We paid and left disappointed.

We have visited several times over the past couple of years and always enjoyed the food & atmosphere. Unfortunately the customer service yesterday was disappointing. We were greeted by a member of staff who pointed to where our table was & said to go to bar to order. I would expect a better welcome & service from a “restaurant” We spent over £200 & when we had to query an item on the bill the attitude of the waitress was just rude. If anyone looking to book I would AVOID sitting by the door which is where we were sat. Like sat eating in a cold corridor.

There were three of us on this short break to our favourite Wales. We arrived on the 28th August which was a Bank Holiday. We signed in and was given WIFI instructions and the key to our room. The receptionist showed us how the electronic tab worked on the doors and we went to our room which on first sight was very nice and acceptable. We unpacked and then went down to the bar for a drink and a bite. We liked the choice of seating within the ground floor and although our table was already allocated they did allow us to change tables. We found that on the whole the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was of reasonably high standard and more than acceptable. The drawbacks we experienced did mar our visit and once things start to go wrong they do not seem to end. I and my wife rely on WIFI and on day one we asked about logging on and we were given instructions which were pretty straight forward. We entered the password for our tablets and mobiles and we were up and running but not for long as the WIFI disappeared. I went to the desk and was told that there was a problem on the mast but the maintenance man was on the case. Same problem the following day so along to the desk I went with my iPhone and my tablet but no luck and it remained like that throughout our stay and the reply I received was, the WIFI is complementary and not a charged for item. We had no hot water throughout our stay and even after several visits to the desk nothing was done and we wasn't the only ones. I was traveling with three woman in a three bed room which had one mirror in the bathroom so once your hair was washed there was no mirror to look into whilst you blow dried it. A double bed with a lamp one side of the bed and a fan on the other but only one socket on one side. The stairway lights were off for two nights until something was said. Nitty gritty's which spoilt our trip and when raised were poo hooed. One other thing was the choice of a continental breakfast for guests who wanted to make an early start, a dried croissant and no butter or jam, a bag of crisps and a piece of cake which went straight into the bin and we had to make the pit stop we were trying to avoid we might as well as started off a bit later and had the full English or other like other days. A shame as there were so many unnecessary fixable faults to make ours and others stay so much better. We are indecisive on whether we will return or not!

Visited this establishment on previous occasions and always enjoyed the food. We recently visited again for the first time since covid restrictions were lifted, the pub has since been refurbished and looks great. However when we walked in around lunchtime on a Saturday we expected it to be busy judging by the number of cars parked up outside in fact it was very quiet with only two tables occupied and the occupants of one table just finishing off their drinks before departing. We approached the reception desk where upon we were told to pick a table and someone will be along very shortly to take our orders, a very long wait later I came to the conclusion that I would need to draw some ones attention to the fact that they have hungry customers! I went back to the desk and asked the very same lady if it was possible to order a meal for two only to be told that I need to go through to the Bar area and order there!! My wife ordered Scampi and chips with a salad and I opted for a cheese burger and chips, eventually after a short wait our food arrived my wife thought they had forgotten the salad until she realised that they had “hidden” the salad under the scampi in a small bowl. Id say the food was ok just not justified by the price Wife had a medium rose wine at £6.00 and I had a half pint of lager at £3.10 glad I did not order a pint! Bottom line an expensive disappointment wont be in a hurry to visit again.

Spent 2 great nights at this hotel with a group of friends for a mountain biking weekend. The location is great and the customer service is excellent. We had dinner here the first night and the food was absolutely brilliant. Breakfast every morning was amazing and the staff go above and beyond! Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place if you are in the area. Oh and the Ales are very nice too!

Just called for a drink at the end of the day. No atmosphere, mainly due to the sparse decor and clinical lighting, and eye watering prices. £18.70 for 1 pint of Guinness and a large brandy and small bottle of coke! Have been before and is good for sitting out on a pleasant evening, but can’t recall these wallet breaking prices.

A fabulous traditional bar that oozes atmosphere and history. Bar is so cosy and even on wet, dark Sunday night, was packed with mix of locals and visitors. Ordered filled Yorkshire pudding and was disappointed but was very late, so think missed the best.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch, it was ok, nothing amazing. The food was served instantly which made us think it had been heated up in the microwave. Roast potatoes were very dry but the roast beef was good. Dogs are welcome and were given a treat by the staff which was a nice touch.
