Great hotel with nice touches like milk in a small flask every day, water in glass bottles On the Sunday we booked a table but when we came down at 7.30 they said the kitchen was closed as nobody else was eating there which was annoying The food was good over the 5 nights we stayed but the plates could have been hotter as the veg and eggs at breakfast went cold quick , Apart from that it's a comfortable place and we would stay again

I love this hotel it really is so welcoming, cosy and was beautifully decorated for the festive period. The staff were so helpful and there was always a cosy place to sit and have a drink. Breakfast was so tasty and so was our evening meal. This hotel is also a real hub for the locals to meet up for a morning coffee.

One of the 'must go to' places in the area, very welcoming, comfortable, great menu and great staff. Living local to Dolgellau we have been here several times over the recent months, never to leave disappointed. It has that comfort feel 'which we like' along with an ample choice menu. 10/10 from us, it is well worth a visit if your passing by, or indeed a local or even a new local to the area.

Been travelling gor 4 weeks. By far the best place we stayed. We had the family too which was excellent. Breakfast freshly cooked with several options . Would recommend and stay here again in a heartbeat

A lovely Sunday roast with my wife for her birthday, The dining room was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the food was superb!! Very friendly staff, attentive, without being in your face. Overall, excellent!!

So cosy and welcoming on a bitterly cold night. The pub was decorated for Christmas and looked beautiful. Plenty of customers and a nice ambience. Service was excellent, food was really well done and well priced. Couldn't fault a single thing. Thanks for a lovely evening.

We had a wonderful stay! The staff were incredibly welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout. The meal was outstanding, truly a highlight of our visit. Our bedroom was beautifully presented, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. Highly recommended!

The new menu is delicious with lots of vegetarian options. We had veggie tikka masala and cheese and onion pie.It's really well presented, there was no music so the atmosphere is quiet but lively - for a Tuesday night this was a great evening supper. Staff are happy, speedy, with one who sings so beautifully as she's working. Thank you !🤗

Spent 2 great nights at this hotel with a group of friends for a mountain biking weekend. The location is great and the customer service is excellent. We had dinner here the first night and the food was absolutely brilliant. Breakfast every morning was amazing and the staff go above and beyond! Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place if you are in the area. Oh and the Ales are very nice too!

We came here for a meal after my sons wedding and the food was excellent. We were given a room to ourselves and the service was very good. The children in our party were well catered for.

We booked here for my husband’s surprise 40th birthday lunch! The food was good and they hosted us brilliantly. Service was good too! Couldn’t fault it.

A last minute choice but this was an outstanding meal from start to finish. Prompt and courteous service. Tasty, well presented food and the portion sizes were just right. The caramel tart was just scrumptious. So a big thumbs up and thanks to the chef tonight. So glad we stopped here... free parking just around the corner as well. Happy to highly recommend.

Lovely stop over to visit family , such a pleasant surprise to find this gorgeous hotel in the middle of the town, perfect and such helpful staff. Breakfast was great and the decor is just right , calming and peaceful retreat, will be making another visit soon.

A beautiful town and the area was stunning, but didn't feel as if we experienced a taste of Wales during our stay at the Ship. The welcome was great, but we could easily have been in England and wouldn't have known the difference.

We stayed here on the Traws Eryri ride. Comfortable room, great evening meal & excellent breakfast that set us up for the days riding. The staf were all friendly & great.

I had an amazing stay at The Royal Ship Hotel. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The Welsh breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the dinner was equally fantastic—truly a great dining experience. I can't wait to come back again. It’s safe to say that this hotel surpasses any other I’ve stayed in by far!

Nice place with great atmosphere for a drink.

I’m not one to leave a review but I was quite disappointed with the food. Had the hunters chicken and the chicken was very dry and hard to eat and there was very little bacon, cheese or BBQ sauce. The chips were also very dry and tasted like they had been left out for a while. The decor and location was nice but it was overly expensive for what the food was and I wouldn’t eat there again.

Bar staff were great, food was superb! All round pleasurable experience, Diolch!

We booked for Sunday dinner choices was limited. When the meal arrived vegetables were small amount of cabbage and broccoli a roast potato and mashed all covered in gravy as someone who not keen on gravy not good. Deserts a joke!

What a great hotel. Food was amazing with a great breakfast. Some nice Al's and beers here to. The icing on the cake was it's just down the road from the Mach loop. What an amazing, fantastic, fabulous place Snowdonia is.

I am surprised by some of the reviews on this place and conclude they must be fake for some reason as reading responses they could not possibly be correct. We ate here on one evening. They were fully booked but a very affluent, pleasant, and ever-smiling Tom managed to squeeze us in. Every member of staff we encountered was fantastic, and we had a great seat in the bay window. We ordered some drinks once we were sat and looked at the menus. The food was much better than "pub grub," as one reviewer called it. It was a great menu and extremely well priced. Never rushed, no one ever was rude, and we had a great experience. Then it went wrong....NO, I am only kidding. Tge food arrived. My squid was exquisite, and I was told so was the homemade soup and bread. Ample portions and loads of taste. A few minutes after finishing, our main courses arrived, the portion sizes were ample and again my Tomapork Steak and the wife's gammon steak were cooked to perfection and the beef tomatoes were divine as were the steaks. Not lacking in anything and certainly not lacking in homemade chips. One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The staff were brilliant as were the surroundings. Well decorated, clean, tidy, and appropriate for the age of the place. Furnishings were comfortable, and it all added to a wonderful ambience. Everything to love about the place, their service, and their food and nothing to knock it for. It's a perfect evening out, and we will be back. Thanks all for a fantastic evening.

Absolutely great place. Genuinely dog friendly, even given a generous few treats for our lively puppy. The staff were all so lovely, which immediately put us at ease, having not only a dog with us, but a baby too. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was perfect, service on food was quick. And best of all for my husband, was the trooper on tap 👌 we would definitely visit again in a heartbeat.

Can recommend you visit. It’s a lovely location and building. The serving team are fantastic, always accommodating and friendly. Food is always fresh and usually very good. Had a slight problem recently, the food was below par. A quite poor Welsh Rarebit, and a soggy sandwich, but it won’t stop me from eating there again, I just won’t order either. The loaded chilli fries were perfect, so maybe just those the next time. Sunday lunch is always good, if that’s your preference and deserts are really good. Had a marvellous tomato soup recently too, again really enjoyed it. It’s a regular treat for us, so will be back soon.

A great place to stay with very helpful staff, clean, comfortable and spacious rooms, with decent food and drink. Quite happy to cater to two rather smelly and muddy walkers, with a great hot shower in the ensuite, quick service in the restaurant (and found a space despite not having reserved).

Stayed the night after a long walk and enjoyed beers and breakfast the next morning. Room was large, comfortable and good value. Will definitely stay again!

Came in by off chance on our way through town. 5 adults and a dog. This place was packed and fully booked. However the lady at the front was amazing and managed to get us a table! Thankyou! So glad we stayed. The food was delicious! Staff were even better!

The food was delicious, the service was great.

Very disappointed at the attitude of the staff. When we walked in the girl at the podium, lip-fillers, eyelashes, dirty look, wasn’t friendly, and her boss, was even ruder and dismissive. A friendly hello wouldn’t have gone a miss. Food was OK, but staff shouldn’t judge people, even if they think they look scruffy.

My daughter took us to The Ship on 8th August 2024 to celebrate her Father's 80th Birthday ...we were booked in for 5pm and were shown to our table and served quickly. The staff were polite . They bought me the wrong meal but rectified it ...unfortunately the pie was dry and only lukewarm . My husband's pie was very dry and the meat inside was dry and did not taste night and the so called mash potatoe look like it was a couple of days old . Very disappointing and embarrassing as someone else was paying for it . I'm My opinion I thought the pies were left overs from the Lunchtime sitting

Apologies. Wrong review. Let's try again... Nice Sunday lunch in pleasant surroundings. Meat choices were a little disappointing, with turkey and chicken being available (along with beef), but no lamb. Our order didn't get taken until we raised the issue, though several orders from walk-in customers who came in after us had been taken. Around £20 for a Sunday lunch main course is a bit steep, but there's little competition in the area.

Eton Mess was incredible. Salad was a bit bland. Main waitors serving us were really nice. Family loved the roast options. A bit more variety beyond the roasts would be welcomed but overall really nice pub for a family meal

Went for food on last day of our holiday dog friendly do we brought the dogs along we were put in a room at the back and felt like we were forgotten about ordered garlic bread with out meal and even after prompting the waitress it never arrived food was nice can't fault that but the service could be improved we were not once asked if our food was OK and waited 20 mins after finishing for a desert order to be taken no one came so we ended up leaving. Very disappointed as it was supposed to be a treat for us and the kids and generally feel let down and kinda spoiled our evening.

Cannot comment on the rooms as only went to the bar and restaurant. Great atmosphere, and good food with large portion sizes. Looking at the room rates, they appear to be very reasonable.

On arrival we were upgraded to a double en suite room. The room was lovely spacious and clean.

Service and food were both excellent. Tasty and well presented meals.

I do not understand why this place is so busy. Started with drinks and my wine glass was dirty with lipstick round the rim. Replaced quickly. Starters were average but my salad was slimy. Chutney and pate nice. Mains were terrible. The young female server smashed my husbands plate of food down and dropped onion rings on him. No apology. I queried my dish as it had gravy with it and that was not on the menu description. Her reply was that she had just bought Table 6 food and had no idea what it was. My husband had a burger which was burnt and a hard egg on it - menu said it would be runny. I had the Cheese and Onion pie. Frozen chips and hard peas. The pie description said it was caramelised onion and roast potato with Red Leicester sauce. There was no onion in it, the potatoes were not roasted and were dry and undercooked. Red Leicester sauce may have been the tiny rim of orange gelatinous material that I found upon searching. It was served with gravy which was not on the menu description and did not solve the very dry pies lack of flavour. When asked how our meal was and we said we were unhappy the very efficient lady server (the best thing in the place!) said she would fetch the manager. After 10 minutes we were told he was too busy and that we could have our main courses free. We said that was not why we had complained. I assume it was to prevent me writing a review... I wanted a nice meal out and was happy to pay the price. Substandard food and, apart from the one lady, poor service.

We stayed at the hotel for the 3rd time this year and on this occasion we were with a party of 15. The rooms and the service could not have been better, and on the Friday night we all met in a side room and the service was superb, on time, the orders correct and the food good. Well done

The pub handled a party of 42 people with pre orders almost flawlessly and the food was excellent for all the varieties requested. Would go back without a second thought.

We had a booking at 2 30 for a group of ramblers.When we arrived the man at the bar called John was very rude telling us that we were late when we were there on time and told us that our food would be ruined.There were 29 of us and we had pre booked our meals a week earlier only to be told that the 7 roast chicken supremes we'd pre ordered were not available.We were made to feel very unwelcome.We will never set foot in there again

Booked for 18:30 and wasn’t too busy. Ordered as soon as we sat down but had a 45 min wait for our food and struggled to get attention from servers to get water even. Was really disappointed by the quality of the food - was the quality and taste for a Wetherspoons pub.

We had a meal with a druggie shouting and abusing his kids next to us.my meal was fine.my w I fes was atrocious.chicken burnt and the whole meal was cold.more worried about the druggies kids.they were hungry.he bought them chips then dragged them out before they could eat them.management should have stepped in.

Food was amazing didn't stay in a room it's gose back to to18"000 so just take 5 mins to do a bit goggling on it p.. Plz empty you ash tray outside

Good food Great coffee amazing decor

Great hotel the rooms are very old with the private bathroom a few door up the corridor. However this was no problem .The room was clean with loverly tea coffee provided .hair dryer and fresh white towels also. .Bed was very comfortable .Breakfast was included full welsh ! Very tasty with fresh orange and cereals. .Carpark is very limited but theres a large pay display near by .

The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially Dan. It was a lovely atmosphere in the bar and restaurant.

Have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Staff are lovely and the food is good especially the breakfasts. Our room was nicely made up and had a complimentary tea tray with lovely teas and coffee bags. I would say it’s probably time to update the duvets and pillows as ours were a tad out of shape! That’s our only criticism as for the price we paid it was very good value for money!

Went on a Saturday night for a meal they do a very good chilli beef, the drinks and surroundings are very nice.

I had a light lunch here on 15.2.24. I was impressed by the polite, professional service and the smart, clean interior. My spinach burger was delightful. The toilets were immaculate. Highly recommended.

Have been to this hotel a couple of times before for tea and a scone and was friendly and nice scones. Sadly on this occasion it was a very disappointing experience and I doubt we will visit again. My daughter ordered a decaf latte and it was really unpleasant - tasted like instant coffee and undrinkable really, if you like nice coffee, I tried it also. She took it back and the older man at the counter was not helpful and made her feel as if she should not have brought it back though she did it very politely. He begrudgingly offered another drink and she chose a tea - no offer of a refund of the difference either. Another man begrudgingly and with an unfriendly manner brought over the tea and when I asked if the coffee had been instant he said no and they serve the very best Brazilian coffee beans and everyone says how lovely it is and basically that we shouldn’t be complaining! Anyway I found this hard to believe as my daughter’s decaf latte was awful. I asked a pleasant waitress after if the decaf was instant and she said it was not the beans but came out of a packet! Hmmm…. What I had suspected all along. So not a great experience -poor, unhelpful and misleading customer service and unpleasant coffee, the scones were nice and interior pleasant but will try somewhere nicer next time.
