The best restaurants serving Turkish food in England

Solo diner arriving at 8:50 Monday evening,greeted with what i can only call disappointment. Having eaten here before i knew what i wanted but was questioned if i would be able to eat it all!(not really any of their business and i also pointed out that takeaway was available through online providers so a box to go home with wouldn't be a problem!)...more critical eyes raised. I ordered a beer and some to eat whilst waiting,my main course came,was thrown in front me and was told i had 20 minutes to get out of the place. There was no offer of another drink nor a check to see if everything was OK...just sullen glances in my direction while the front of house guy played loud videos on YouTube. This made the whole experience horrible and unwelcoming. To add to this cash only payment was demanded and at the end of the meal i needed to go the bank(maybe 4 doors down the street)...on my way back the front of house bully was greeting me on the pavement saying that he's waiting for me,i paid and didn't even receive the correct change...i was ushered out and when i said that the experience was bad his reply was just he had somewhere to go and drove off in his 4×4 BMW .....I'm shocked,saddened and disappointed.

Bit sad that the big restaurant at the southern end of Mutley has closed and seems to have split into a smaller takeaway and eat in kebab and burger place with rest of the old restaurant looking to be metamorphosing into a new barber shop. But all is not lost. Soon after Christmas when we were using Colin Campbell car park we spotted the Shawarma logo sign on the back door of the 3rd or 4th shop down on the southern side of Frankfort Gate. Evidently the business continues in some form and at least deliveries are being picked up from down there.

I really loved this restaurant! Its food was amazing and his owner was very kind with us. We didn’t spend so much money and we got a great dinner.

Am a bit hard to please with food as hate paying money for bad food. Chicken Shish arrived hot, salad fresh, chips freshly cooked and the food arrived hot. Only minor complaint would be too much onion in the salad. Thank you 👍

Visited yesterday for lunch. We were only visiting Derby for the day and unsure where to eat. We felt really well looked after and everything from the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. Extremely pleased to have chosen there. Thank you 🙏

An absolute gem! The food is incredibly fresh and made to perfection, exceeding expectations with every bite. Portions are generous, ensuring you leave more than satisfied. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Turkish cuisine!

The kebab, unfortunately was the worst I have tried. Hard and stale. 3 stars for the good pizza and chips.

First time ordering from Mamaris having been living locally sinse 2009. Downloaded the app and placed my order, then realising i had ordered Bulgar rice as an extra , when the mixed kebab came with it anwyay, called up and asked to replace with chips which wasnt a problem. Everything arrived in half an hour from order, freshly cooked, hot and very tasty. Hands down the best kebab i've had in Hemel and the flat bread was a nice change from Pitta and wonderfully fresh salad. It's such a pity its taken me 16 years before trying Mamaris - you now have a new loyal customer - keep up the good work! Looking forward to dining in your resturant very soon with my family. Fergus

Did not stay in the apartments however did eat in the restaurant and can only say it’s one of the best Turkish restaurants I’ve ever been too! The food was out of this world and really enjoyed it!! The staff was great and very accommodating! Would highly recommend if you visit Whitby!

Our experience at Antalya was absolutely amazing! Fauzia provided excellent customer service—she was incredibly kind, accommodating, and made sure we had the privacy we wanted. Even after we changed tables, she remained pleasant and attentive. The food was outstanding! We ordered the mixed platter for six, and every dish was a 10/10. We've been to many Turkish restaurants, but this one truly stands out as the best. The flavors were rich, and everything was cooked to perfection. The entire staff was friendly and supportive, making our first visit even more enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back often and inviting our family members to experience it as well. A special thank you to Fauzia for making our first visit so lovely!
