Chicken and chips best I’ve ever had

Absolutely terrible experience. I ordered 2 pieces of chicken and chips for collection and was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. I arrived after 5 minutes as instructed, only to be kept waiting for another 10 minutes. On top of that, the price was ridiculous—£8 for just two pieces of chicken and chips? I wasn’t expecting it to cost that much. When I finally got the food, the chicken was dry, overcooked, and borderline burnt. Definitely not worth the money or the wait. Won’t be coming back.

Headed here after a pub quiz and hungry... I had a really nice kebab (chilli sauce was great); brother-in-law had a burger which he said was really good too. Shame we're not local, really liked this place!

They do not accept card payment. Need to move in to 2025

I don't see what the fuss is about, the chicken is average and the chips undercooked. The chili sauce is out of a bottle not homemade, a sure sign of disappointment

Pretty terrible kebab, chicken ok and sad bit of tomato but no other salad. Whole thing drowned in mayo, poor quality meal as a whole.

We ordered our food at 18:51 and it was delivered to us at 21:13. This is not necessary the fault of the driver but the restaurant taking 2 hours to complete an order that they advertised as taking on 30-40 for delivery. Shocking

Portion sizes are poor kebabs hardly any meet in them …expensive and definitely not value for money . Will not be buying from them again ..

The best chicken shop in st albans, i just wish sometimes the chips doesn’t look like they were fried twice, because some are rock solid with loads of oil in. When i ask for fresh chips i get no issues but sometimes i forget to ask other than that the best shop with friendly people, chilli dip is 10/10

Please fix the app, you’re only allowed to select 1 filling when it’s obvious most people want all salad. Which should be an option. Very disappointed to have just lettuce.

Ordered last night expecting to get the original/famous STA chicken roll of fried chicken in a large naan wrapped up with salad etc and got nothing of the sort. Been getting chicken rolls from you for over 20 years and it’s alway been the same so don’t know what happens last nite. Chips were cold and small portioned also. Very disappointing tbh.

Falafel roll with garlic sauce was excellent! They are open late and we stopped to grab a bite to bring back on our way from the train station. Plenty of seats open, clean and friendly. Highly recommend.

Best fried chicken in St Albans

Burger sauce has woster sauce or something added therefore it’s not burger sauce at all. You can only have 1 salad item why? Also 3 pieces of cucumber it’s awlful

We are locals that live very close to H&H. It used to be our regular, but the last few months the standards have gone way down. Chips not freshly cooked and cold, wrong sauces on multiple occasions, cheese not very nice. The service is lovely as always though

Upon purchasing three chicken rolls, I observed that each one seemed smaller than usual, Additionally, my companions witnessed the chicken roll preparer, who had their back turned, including only one piece of chicken in the wrap despite stating two pieces. It is recommended to remain vigilant, particularly when under the influence, and contemplate selecting a two-piece chicken and chips meal instead. It is worth noting that I also comprehend their language.

Been here a few times previous for chips and fried chicken. Always been ok. ordered chicken shish for takeaway. Worst chicken shish I've ever had, greasy , strips NOT chargrilled cubes as all other places do. Chips were not fresh and salad was a joke. The usual staff were not there some young boys, won't be going here again.

I found the staff member I had the misfortune of encountering to be obstructive, uninformed about the very basic elements of how they trade and downright rude. The ‘cash only’ obstacle was rather a difficult one to get my round too. Surely accepting card payments would be to their benefit. I visited this place as recommendation, sadly I will not be returning. EDIT: Gave them another try after 5 months. I was pleased to learn that the above had been addressed. Normally I've never had an issue with this place and its my go to after a night out. Went last night and got the lamb. When I got home me and my boyfriend started to feel very unwell and my boyfriend ended up being sick (he also had the lamb) it was very dry and not the best this time. Will think twice in the future

I ordered macaroni cheese, it only had cheese on top! Under that layer of cheese the pastas were swimming in something really watery...without taste or cheese. How is that macaroni cheese?

So let me tell you about my two experiences of this establishment. I can only say amazing things about this place. Firstly the customer service was top notch 10/10 for me. I spoke with the owner Emre and he was a delight. Watching him interact with all his customers with a smile on his face and taking time to get to know them was a breath of fresh air. I had the honour of speaking with him and was blown away by his attitude and kindness. Even when I visited the second time he remembered my name 👌🏾. The food was 10/10 both times. I had burgers and chicken and it was excellent. I can’t recommend this this establishment any higher. Everything is quality please go and visit Emre you will not be disappointed. Missing burger sauce I ordered

Ordered a mixed grill. Several pieces of chicken and even less bits of steak. All on a piece of narm bread. £12.99. Where were the mushrooms egg tomatoes and bacon and peas. A real rip off. Will not be going back

One of the best chicken places I've been to in the country, and I've been to a lot. Some of the friendliest staff I've ever seen and really quick, solid service. There every single night out I've been on in St Alban's and I'll keep doing it. Class place 👍👍

I don’t usually say this out loud but I work for a Michelin star restaurant as a grill chef. Chicken shish in this shop is way above what you eat in an average takeaway. Flavor is amazing, meat is juicy, succulent and cooked to perfection, smells heavenly, it is all spot on. Meal is as good as what you eat in a Michelin star restaurant. It is so good, I bring my friends here. Highly recommend 👌🏻
