Istanbul Restaurant in Derby

Wow, what has happened? Stone cold food. Salad no dressing, cucumber, tomato or even lemon! Food delivered cold. Not Luke warm but like really COLD. bread normally warm but also stone cold. Second time ordering and disappointed but corners being cut. Little extras being emitted. The grilled chilli etc. The things that made paying such high prices worth it Yes food has good taste but absolutely not worth the prices. Had to reheat the mains in the oven! Will be fighting Uber eats for a refund. Absolutely unacceptable Two deliveries in a row so so poor. Please sort this out and let me know when so I can order again and amend this review

Really nice and clean restaurant with a great atmosphere. Lovely staff. Most importantly though, incredible food! The best sit down kebab I've had. Highly recommended. Will 100% be back next time I'm in Derby and I already can't wait!

Best Turkish restaurant in Derby. this restaurant is the only restaurant that cooking real handmade Turkish food in Derby as well I guess. Friendly staff, especially Alexa was accomplished and graceful at all time when she was serving our food. We had a nice conversation about the Turkish foods with her. High quality service and tasty food. Highly recommended. 😋😋

Absolutely terrible experience. Food came cold and items were missing after spending a lot of money on the order. After calling up we were disregarded with no offers of help or replacement, customer service was poor and employee was extremely rude. Do not recommend.

Multiple things left out of the order, poor customer service, bad delivery time, bad food quality. Will never order from here again.

The roast and food was very, very good! The wait staff was very accommodating, the tea was delicious and the desserts were perfect. We asked the staff to make the food a little spicier and they did a great job! We will be coming back again👍

Called in for a meal with my wife on a Saturday night. There were plenty of staff who were all very friendly and helpful. I had a mixed grill and my wife had lamb shish. Both delicious. We didn’t realise until after we ordered that this isn’t a licensed premises so if you want an alcoholic drink with your meal, bring your own! We both had a pint of coke and the bill came to a very reasonable £42. Will definitely be returning.

I recently visited this Turkish restaurant and was blown away by the delicious food. The pizza was incredibly tasty, and the lamb ribs were cooked to perfection. The staff were kind and friendly, and the manager even treated us to some delightful desserts on the house. The place itself was clean and had a great vibe. Highly recommended for a wonderful dining experience!

Came here to say for lunch with my friend. From start to finish the food experience was amazing. The customer service is equally on par. My friend order chicken which was cooked on the grill, and it had chicken kebab. Both came with salad and rice. The stater was incredible. Amazing service and food so yum. They were so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Brought us complimentary bread whilst waiting and then offered up complimentary Turkish tea after. Me and my daughter felt really special and looked after. Food was so good. I had falafel wrap with Shepard salad. So good. Thank you Istanbul. This will be our go to eatery when next in Derby. Everyone must try it. I gave the waiter a hug they were so nice to us. I would have left a tip but had no cash for the box but will take for next time.🙏😀😀😀

The food over all was pretty decent but what I’ve noticed was a lot of the staff went on their phones while preparing food which was really unpleasant because of how phones do contains a lot of germs

Food was amazing.. highly recommend the jumbo platter. Meat was tasty and beautifully cooked and the sides plentiful and tasty. No alcohol served so bring your own (but be prepared to drink wine out of a large glass!!)

Came in for lunch. They gave complementary baklava type dessert because it was just made fresh and wanted to share it with us. Bread was fresh out the oven and food was top notch. Gem of a place you must pop in.

We were a group of about 30. We were given a lovely room upstairs that fit us all. Very spacious. Lovely decor. The service was amazing. We were very well looked after. The food, presentation and taste, was amazing. A really good place for dinner if you are in or around Derby. We will definitely be back.

Was incredibly busy which was good but service became a problem server was running around with food asking every table if they ordered it and food for starter and main came out within 5minutes of each other. Booked previously to today for Valentine’s Day so I am taking into consideration that it will naturally be more chaotic. Upon entering the first 5 minutes was spent letting people out of a very small staircase. Food was exemplary and amazing.

Dishes very small for what you pay. Prices are very high and the food taste isn't what you expect for an expensive restaurant . Don't waste your time and money.

Extremely disappointed and won’t be returning. No atmosphere, starter didn’t get served, altho my main (meat chicken and lamb) was absolutely incredibly tasty! The portion size was disappointing with the rice having zero flavour. My partner’s ‘pide’ was not traditionally Turkish either. Restaurant not very clean especially the toilet. As I said, very disappointing.

It was my first time to Istanbul city center and it may be the last!! Everything was good the staff were super nice, until me and my friend ordered a mix platter, the food was delicious until me and my friend tasted the chicken shawarma, you can know from first bite that this chicken is bad, like it's raw with strong smell. My friend went to the toilet and I called the waitress and I asked if they tasted the chicken and its bad she said no they didn't taste it and they have no idea about it, after I went to the toilet, and my friend talked to the waitress and she told her yes they knew about it from the beginning. Like the audacity of serving a raw meet and the audacity of lying as well!!!! They offered tea to my friend with lollypops 😑 Edit after your reply: No, it doesn't make it my opinion if your waitress said to my friend that you knew the chicken was bad but you served it anyway and you are thinking to change the supplier!! Yes the plate was finished except the shawarma that we had 2 bites from it and we left it as it is. And about the tea, not offering any compensation after serving a meat that you knew is bad with sour smell just makes it more horrible!!!!!

DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE BY THE WAITERS I went here with my friends and the waiters kept staring at us the entire the time.The women with hijab who works as a waiter kept smirking in a sly demeaning way at us which was noticed by my friend too.The rest also stare MAKING U UNCOMFORTABLE. This is the first restaurant I encountered such weird waiting staff who don't know of customer service.The waiting women with two stands out and brown hair was okay out of the rest.BUT YEAH NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN.The decent food isn't worth the bad awful experience.ITS LIKE PART OF THE JOB ROLE THERE IS TO STARE AND LAUGH AND SMIRK AT THOSE EATING??

Mediocre lamb shish wrap (£9.50 with chips), in which a maximum of six 2cm cubes of lamb were accompanied by some red cabbage and garlic and chilli sauces. The quality of the lamb was good, however, there just wasn’t enough of it. The paucity of lamb aside, which was galling for the price, the salad was close to non-existent. I had asked for more salad explicitly, a claim the waiter wanted to deny in a pantomime-style “yes, I did”, “no, you didn’t” exchange when I was paying my bill. Nonsense behaviour. The garlic sauce had very limited evidence of any garlic content and the chilli sauce seemed to have been omitted altogether. This was rectified to an extent by the waiter bringing me some tasty, spicy hot chilli sauce upon my request. The chips were fresh, however.

Amazing food, amazing staff and amazing food 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Would happily recommend and use again. All enjoyed the food and full by the end of our meal. Party of 9 and all looked after well 👏👏

Our lunchtime stop off for a quick bite while on my appointments at Istanbuls was fantastic! The lamachun was spot on, and the lamb Doner wrap was simply awesome!!! One of the best I’ve had. The gentleman who served us, Ruhil, was brilliant. He was polite, friendly and super helpful. I’d definitely visit here again and potentially even be tempted to take detours to have lunch here again!!

Раньше всегда приходили туда кушать и еда была великолепная,но спустя долгое время решили заказать через Uber eats, указывали что нам не нужен лук в кебаб (заказали 4),так как у нас аллергия,в итоге во всех кебабах был лук и его кстати больше чем мяса 🤞🏻 более того мясо невозможно жевать ,все сухое и с жилками !!! Вы опять будете утверждать на негативный отзыв что это fake review?! Вам явно стоит задуматься о качестве еды!!!! Очень жаль

They welcomed me in very nicely it’s such a relaxed environment. They recommended a bunch of food and I loved it all, go when it’s your birthday especially they celebrate it really well but go any day really they fed me well

Take no notice of the fake bad reviews this place is 12/10 some of the best authentic and delicious food outside of the country itself! Visited on a work trip to derby. 100% I will be back here again! Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Restaurant is decorated lovely and a nice place all round!!😍👌

Had a lovely evening with work girls, lots of food and desserts were absolutely amazing and different from other places. Service was very prompt, we were served by Rahul and he was very sweet and recommended best dishes to us. I dropped my dessert to take home and he replaced it straight away

I have dined at Istanbul Restaurant, located near Waterstone, just outside the Derbion many times. Not a single time was the quality, and the service dropped. Beautiful food aromas and the atmosphere of Turkiye bring back the great holiday memories. With spacious and welcoming interor, it can cater to large patries and family occasions. Without any doubt, the professional staff will cater to every need. I highly recommend this unfairly underrated restaurant for its great food, friendly staff, and beautiful atmosphere. Come and find out for yourself what a great gem in the middle of Derby City this restaurant is. Most certainly, I am coming back. Well, worth a visit.

By the looks of it it seems they dismiss all negative reviews as either fake (as in my case) or it was the customer's fault, never taking responsibility for their poor customer service. Perhaps management should learn to own up !

Wow. You have to visit these guys on Norstanton Road. The manager was so friendly. He welcomed me to film the place, but I couldn't do that due to the tight schedule. You should try lamb kabab, lamb ribs with chips and Turkish tea.

It was my first time going to Istanbul restaurant. My friend was thinking about a place to host his birthday party and he was like let's try this place out and I must say they never disappointed. The space was pre-booked, the food was amazing, the staff was soooo nice honestly the best, the environment was legit and service was professional. I really want to say a big thank you to the manager (Salih) and the deputy manager and all the staffs for celebrating with us yesterday. You guys are the best ❤️ Lots of love from me

It is by far the best experience I’ve ever had with my family. I booked a table today for my daughters birthday and everything was absolutely perfect. I would totaly recommend this restaurant. We’ve been here many times and the staff is beyond amazing, just like the food.

Cold, burnt and inedible. Far too much salt for anyone to eat. Upon confrontation I was told the food was not to my taste despite having been to Turkey and eating at plenty of delicious Turkish restaurants. This was clearly not prepared fresh and was reheated muck, with lidl microwave plain rice thrown in for good measure. Learn to make Turkish rice. The coward was not willing to offer a refund for any items. Don't order the salty dog food Iskender Shawarma. Oh and this is not a 'fake' review. Lovely services and great atmosphere. All staff are friendly and professional. The foods are delicious, authentic and valuable (big portion compared to its prices). Strongly recommend the lamb doner (more tasty) and lamb shish (more tender and juicy). They have a plate of bread and a sauce platter before your meal too! We've been here 3-4 times already, so definitely recommended!

Attentive and friendly service, excellent food - fast, authentic and tasty. Also pretty good value - two of us ate our fill for about £40 inc soft drinks. You can eat really well for closer to £10 per head. No alcohol served here, but they will allow you to bring your own at certain times (worth checking with them). Highly recommend.
