Istanbul Restaurant Normanton in Derby

We been there for the first time the staff are ignoring customers which is to rude than at the end they added something extra on the bill that we didn't ordered at all I hope they be a bit better for the next time thanks

Food is no doubt very good but service needs to be look into as very slow and unprofessional .

Absolute shambles of a restaurant. The manager is so obnoxious and refuses to accept mistakes. Initially, ordering took a while but it was busy so we waited patiently. AFTER the appetisers arrived, we were informed there was no bread to go with the hummus and they would give us tortilla instead so we refuse and asked them to take hummus away at which the manager appeared and told me that this probably happens in my home as well that you run out of stuff and realise only minutes before. I did politely tell him that if this were the case,they should have informed us when we ordered but he kept arguing that they've been so busy and had so many customers yesterday! I'm sorry, I'm not asking for yesterday's leftovers and its all the more reason for you to be better prepared today.Then the bread magically appeared! After this, they served the main for my entire family and 15 mintes later,the same manager rocks up and tells me that they have run out of my order .... while my daughter is sitting there eating the same thing! The waiters then came to apologise but by then I was done with this attitude and inefficiency and I asked my order to be cancelled. The restaurant has been going downhill for a while but today was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm not eating here again ,neither are my family and friends.

Food has gone really downhill since my last review. I have changed this from 5 stars to 1. We re very disappointed meat is not cooked well rice flavours gone 😢 kebabs no flavours at all .. ... we used to loved the flavour of the food here since my last visit to now 😢 whole spoil very disappointed 😞

I ordered the wrong food after 2 minutes of ordering so I wanted to change it, the waiter said that they already put it on the grill and it's cooking so I couldn't. I've been waiting 40 minutes after that so she basically lied to me. I'm not happy. Also when ordering dessert I couldn't because they didn't have anything on the menu, basically the menu is pointless. They said the only thing they had was ice cream so when I ordered it they gave me not the vanilla but the raspberry which I didn't order. They are understaffed during these busy times and waited 2 hours for nothing. 20 minutes when ordering apple pie for them to come back saying the whole menu isn't available. The manager in the suit is very kind though he is very nice to everyone unlike some of the service here

We went for birthday meal on 8th March.My brother came all the way from Scotland and we really enjoyed Turkish food.Thanks to manager who wish my brother's birthday with staff and brought baklava with candle.it was so sweet and heart melting gesture. Food Quality ,standard,portion size, taste and service is out class. I highly recommend this place.

Went for my wedding anniversary dinner in late 2022 and it a was memorable experience. Food portion was very generous. Service was great too.

Very friendly staff, tasty food and great atmosphere. Cannot ask for more. Please note that the alcohol is not being served here but you can bring your own.

Perfect. Everything is delicious, the grill, the salad, the coffee. The service is also very good.

The Istanbul restaurant was recommended and booked by our manager for an evening meal of six. We were staying in central Derby and had a 15 minute walk up hill on a bleak February evening. I said to my colleagues this better be worth it after that walk. Well, what can I say? The food and service were excellent from start to finish. The staff helped us with our selections and accommodated any changes we wanted. The platters are huge and a mixture of various meats, couscous rice, and salad that will keep you wanting more. There is a Lidl next to the restaurant if you want alcohol with your meal as there are only non alcoholic drinks on the menu. We are definitely going to book again for another great night.

Went in after an event, food came promptly and tasted amazing, had the Lamb chops and enjoyed the meal very much. Manager/waiters were accommodating and friendly

The food was great, excellent portion sizes, a very spacious restaurant and an open kitchen which is so clean it shines.

The waiter was eager to take our order, and we waited for an hour for our food. The waiter got his food on time, and we are still waiting. We came from Nottingham.

Went for our anniversary, we were not disappointed. The team pulled out all the stops to make our night really special, and even sang us the ‘happy anniversary song’ (I didn’t even know there was a happy anniversary song!) The food was amazing, I holidayed in turkey a few years back and the meats are grilled to perfection just like they were there. The platter for two is huge! We had plenty to take home and the prices were very reasonable, far less than other restaurants. We even got a little anniversary cake at the end which just topped it off. An exceptional experience from start to finish.

Best restaurant in Derby Great food and customer service

First time trying this place, mixed feelings on whether we will return. food was very nice. We ordered the mixed kebab for one with cous cous which was really nice , glad chose to have cous cous as it all would have been bland with plain boiled rice. And Pide which was nice too- great option for kids as its a bit like pizza. Appreciated the bread which was added as a side as no extra cost, and tea was offered at the end too. However, the service from the waiting staff was awful! The young woman came to ask if we were ready to order, I asked if we could have 2 more minutes, she literally tutted and walked off. And it was as if we did something wrong and offended her. 20 minutes later There were 3 of the staff stood chatting as we tried to get their attention to order. I had to walk over to them to ask them to come take our order. Food came and was well presented, We observed that all 3 staff members were very attentive towards all the other tables, but did not once ask us if everything was OK, or if we needed to order anything else e.g drinks. We had to go up and ask for the bill as we were done and decided not to ask for dessert as they made us feel like our presence was an inconvenience. The strawberry Daiquiri mocktail was a disappointment, it tasted like a cheap summer fruits squash and after the foamy bubbles dissolved, it left just half a glass! We were pleased with the food. The portions were huge and we took half home with us which they kindly agreed to pack for us.

Met our expectations and much more. Food was good enough by itself. However we were immersed with the hospitality of the manager (Noah) and his sense of commitment to the customer, as he went over and beyond. Whist dining we witnessed two birthday celebrations. He made it in his best interest to involve everybody in the restaurant. This created a warm and welcoming environment. Staff were accommodating and were happy to meet our needs. Is it worth visiting? The answer is, Yes!! Good vaule for money and food portion size is more than you can handle. Had to leave with the left overs in a take away bag. 👍🏾

We took our community here for the 3rd year in a row for our new year meal :) the service was fantastic & quick, everything freshly made and tasted beautiful. The manager Noa was so accommodating and lovely, him and the staff really looked after us and treated us so well, we will definitely be visiting them, best meal I’ve had for a long time, would advise anyone to go and eat in the instantly restaurant in Normanton :) top service authentic tasty food and a brilliant vibe.

Went for my sons 30th Birthday. The manager made a fuss of him and 2 other people who's Birthday it was. He advised us on what to chose and saved us money because of it. Food was very good and still loads left over when we were finished. Got a free desert and cups of Turkish tea. Try it for yourself you'll be surprised how good it is.

it was my birthday and my parents planned a suprise. you pay for your meal and i got a complimentary slice of cake with a candle and the staff sang me happy birthday and also put on birthday music. i was completely suprised and so shocked and happy. it made my day! the food is also delicious and the decor is so pretty i reccomend this resturant 100%

When I went in person, they got my order wrong and gave me something completely different from what I asked for. I asked for a mixed kebab and was given a chicken kebab that looked half eaten compared to what the table got. I paid good money for a dish that was so small compared to the other people at my table. Ordering online is also a very big hassle. They will force you to cancel because of a technicality with Uber Eats too. Both when dining in and ordering, constantly have problems with things being 'out of ingredients'. Disappointing to be honest because I wanted to like it. But the atmosphere was nice, though it can't say the same for the food quality...

I had a surprise birthday dinner booked for a friend with about 13 other people and the service for that was incredible! All staff came out to sing along! Very happy with the food. Thank you to Rahul and the other staff I didn’t catch their names who helped with the cakes and overall service, I appreciate them all! I’ve had a second birthday here and honestly it was just as incredible, thank you so much to all the staff who were beyond incredible, very grateful !!

The service was slow but the restaurent was busy and the owner filled in the gaps to keep the atmosphere light hearted. We had a range of food but everyone was surprised how good the Lamb Sote I chose was. All in all a good place to eat.
