Good post-festive family meal, tasty food. However, the road up the hill to the carpark was sheer ice. There must be issues with their drainage as it was coming from behind the hotel and the drains. There wasn't enough parking so we had to park on the side of the steep icy road in front of residential houses. There's some gravel parking by the hotel but too steep and rough!

Wow wow wow! Ondine at Seaton House was the most fabulous experience. Firstly the setting, sea views in a beautifully decorated room. It’s comfortable, sophisticated but super welcoming as well. The food is Roy Brett’s usual perfection. We enjoyed a range of seafood and beef all cooked and presented beautifully. Finally, the staff are charming and super professional. Shout out to Craig and Roy for looking after us so well. Most definitely worth the trip north to St Andrews. And look forward to coming back soon.

Turning up we were sat beside a table of Italians, this bode well. The staff in the venue were super friendly and attentive, easy going and honest. The food was as fresh as it gets, and the chefs really know what they're doing. The only seafood I've eaten that was more fresh was mussels picked off the rocks by my own hands. Every member of our party left smiling at how tasty the food was. You pay for what you get in this venue. and what you get is arguably the best seafood in Edinburgh. I will certainly be back.

Yum yum yum from a Glasgow Gal! First time visit! Fancied a chippy tonight after coming away with family for the weekend We ordered 3 fish suppers, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce. We also tried the chefs tartare sauce ( The whole family thoroughly enjoyed every bite! CHEFS KISS Service was amazing, smiley, friendly, helpful! Thank you 😊

Everything was AMAZING! Being Catholic means no flesh meat on a Friday (lard & shortening fine though) and I’m highly sensitive to seed oils aka vegetable oils. I take my hunt for quality, traditional, cancer-free fish and chips VERY seriously and drove an extra 2.5 hours the week before for beef dripping fish and chips. So when I did my research and found out that they cooked in Tallow, I knew that the coming Friday’s dinner was taken care of! And boy, was i positively DELIGHTED to be in Orkney on a Friday while travelling for two months from Australia. Because I got to indulge in this goodness! Usually Fridays are a struggle as most places cook with toxic cancer vegetable oils and nothing beats a classic fish and chips for a Friday. This place was quick, offered great service and was DELICIOUS. I absolutely loved my meal and have saved it so that when I get back to Scotland, I can revisit.

What a lovely restaurant that clearly supports local businesses and fishermen. We visited on a weekday lunchtime and there were lots of occupied tables, a good sign. Dog friendly and they even removed a chair to give him more room and offered water for him, which is lovely. Nice clean and bright atmosphere and the waitress was super friendly and helpful. The scallops starter was divine and the homemade bread to mop up the garlic butter was a great touch. The smoked haddock and cheddar fish cakes were another highlight and I liked the way you could choose your sides and sauce. Only one fresh catch of the day, but that is understandable given the nature of the beast - the sole was lovely. Thank you for being a highlight of Redventures trip north...

I used to absolutely love this chippy. My family has been going for years, and with us living just three miles away, it’s always been a firm favourite. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, it’s now a place I will never visit again. At the end of November, my husband and I ordered seven portions of food for ourselves, our children, and my father. Once we arrived and paid, a member of staff made a comment to the woman preparing our order: "I’m not doing this order, I’ll just poison it." This employee has a brief history with my husband and clearly still holds a grudge. Shocked and horrified, I contacted the owner that evening. After a few exchanges, I was advised that this is now considered a civil matter and was told to contact the company’s lawyers. It’s baffling that a company would think it’s acceptable for employees to threaten customers. My advice to anyone working in public-facing roles: if you can’t handle certain situations, perhaps working with the public isn’t the right choice. This whole incident is both sad and embarrassing—for the employee involved and the company as a whole.
