Had a lovely day watching football. Then bill playing the organ just like the old days. Great family venue. Well done. 😎😎

Practically perfect in every way. My girlfriend (who became my fiancé during our stay) stayed at Lords of the Manor in December 2024. I had a number of special requests which the team were only too happy to accommodate. We stayed during Storm Darragh which unfortunately led to a 24h powercut during our stay. The staff were wonderful, and did everything they could to ensure we were safe and comfortable despite the lack of power. Leona and I look forward to visiting again!

Love it! I drive all the way across from South Bristol to visit this place. The staff are always friendly and the kebab always tastes great. Discovered this place about 20 years ago and have been coming back ever since. Their homemade chili sauce is great but really spicy.

After leaving it for far too long we returned to our favourite restaurant in the UK last week. I've written before how good it is and I'm about to do so again. Living in Birmingham we have a choice of Michelin starred restaurants on our doorstep, now sadly one one less with the closure of Purnell's, but it's a scenic round trip to a Cheltenham restaurant that tops them all. Obviously the level of cooking at these places is top notch but the overall experience of LCS is what sets it apart. There is no tasting menu but set lunch and dinner menus (two or three course) - which offer incredible value - as well as an extensive a la carte menu. The wine list is extremely well put together and has a pricing range which suits all pockets, unlike some of its contemporaries! Some reviewers bemoan the lack of music; others compare it to a library or church but not in a good way. We find it has a calm and pleasant ambience. The tables are well spaced and people are chatting and laughing quite freely - possibly helped by mobile phone use not being allowed in the dining area. We had the set lunch menu which allowed us to taste gurnard for the first time as well as an exquisitely cooked beef and ox-tongue dish which melted in the mouth. The cheese board is - as it always has been - a masterpiece, arriving in a wicker basket full of cheese for you to choose at the table; or let chef David select for you allowing for personal preferences to be included. The coffee and petits fours are a sublime way to finish your meal. The latter are particularly fine, varied and plentiful. I haven't mentioned the nibbles, amuse bouche or the breads including a signature brioche with bacon but they, and the excellent front of house service provided by Helen and her team, all combine to consistently deliver a superb dining experience. Parking is available at a nearby car park, currently £2.30 for three hours - a time span which is perfect for a leisurely lunch - only a short walk away. We won't leave it so long for our next visit!

The property is lovely and serene. The rooms were very spacious and very clean. Restaurant (food & service) was excellent. Location was perfect. However, I was very disappointed in the spa. I had 1 or two appointments scheduled each day I was there(4 days). The massage therapists were “ok”, but I couldn’t relax because the tables were very hard and uncomfortable, and I was told, old. The young girl who did my manicure was awful. Her hands were trembling and she had a hard time providing me the service and took nearly 1.5 hours, and there was no manicure table. She had me put my hands on top of a massage table and kept the tools in her lap. I did not see any type of sterile packaging or cleaning either. I almost left in the middle, but I wanted to give her a chance, never again. It was so horrible, the manager refunded me. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that in the UK this industry is not regulated by the government, therefore the standards I expected were very poor compared to what I experience in the U.S. Buyer beware! The other observation I made was while I went to the living room to read my book one evening, I could not find a single chair or sofa that was clean. The upholstery was very dirty and stained, so was the area rug. Spilled food stains, drops from drinks, and patches of dark stains were everywhere. I had to go back to my room. The old, worn, dirty upholstery was unacceptable. Great staff, but the owners need to focus on improving in these areas. I will not return.

I visited Summer Lodge with a friend to celebrate her birthday. We ordered a cream tea which was advertised as freshly baked scones daily. We were shown to the drawing room and sat down. Then a waiter came to ask what tea we would like and tried to joke with us which was not necessary. The scones arrived and were frozen in the middle! So much for freshly baked scones! When I complained the waiter then said ' so much for our freshly baked scones!' Then joked that we must have got them out of our handbags! Totally inappropriate. Not a great experience for parting with £34 for 2 cream teas! The building and setting is very lovely. A shame that our experience was not up to expected standards.
