No matter how many gentrified cafes that open close by, this place stays a genuine and strong locals favorite. Queues most lunchtimes show how good it is. Work vans and students a plenty. The sort of place a “tik-tok” food reviewer would lose their mind over. Had the hot roast baguette on Tiger bread roll. Sourdough and normal baguette also available.

Friendly staff. Clean and welcoming. Negatives are - cash payment only, no vegan options and limited vegetarian options

My son and daughter-in-law were married at beautiful DeCourceys last December and it was perfect from beginning to end. The quaint and ever-so-classy venue provided the most magical atmosphere, the food was incredibly delicious and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, kind and supportive. Lewis is one of a kind and looked after us all so well. The Sunday lunches are also amazing and the Valentine's Dinner last weekend, was so beautiful, we haven't stopped talking about it!! The accommodation is just first class and I couldn't recommend a more perfect venue for any event. Thank you all so much. We will see you soon for another delicious Sunday lunch xx

Lovely pub but be aware - car parking enforcement by private company. Visited The Railway Hotel on 23.02.25 and have sadly been issued with a parking penalty that has just arrived through the post. It appears there is a private car parking company now monitoring the car park, there is signage but it isn't the clearest in terms of effect on pub patrons etc and where to register so your car isn't fined. Sadly weather was atrocious when we were visiting and I was preoccupied with getting our small child from the car to the pub so myself, my husband and mother all missed the signs (mainly around the decked area, not the street door which we went to). We were not advised of the new car parking enforcement by any of the staff members we spoke with during our visit - have highlighted to the pub it may be worth letting customers know about the parking when they book in at the bar for their reservation (which we did). In terms of the food etc, (we visited for Sunday lunch) it was reasonable and good quality. Reasonable prices and staff were friendly. However, the car parking penalty could catch a few out there ( as seems to have been the case when I spoke to one of the staff via the phone today). So be mindful of this.

For my first meal in Cardiff, I decided to eat a light sandwich and visited a long line of shops called Duke Street Arcade. This is because there was a sandwich restaurant I had my eye on in this shopping street. It could be considered a deli because it sells pre-cooked sandwiches. According to several Google reviews, the sandwiches here are said to be New York-style, which is probably why New York was added to the name. There are no hot sandwiches, only cold sandwiches, so many sandwiches contain ham or processed meat. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, which was the best, and ginger beer because they didn't sell beer. The price of the sandwich is by no means cheap, but considering its size and contents, it doesn't feel very expensive. It is 1.5 times the size of Subway and is filled with multiple layers of pastrami and various ingredients. The freshness of the tomatoes and cheese, as well as the crunchy pickles and coleslaw, are harmoniously balanced. When you take a bite, the taste of each ingredient comes to mind. Cold sandwiches seem a bit stale and instant, so I usually enjoy hot sandwiches, but with these fresh ingredients, there's no need to insist on hot sandwiches. Now I'm stubborn. This is a sandwich shop that is well-received even among American tourists. Even though the sandwiches are not Welsh, they are worth a quick taste when coming to Cardiff. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere of the store is good.

Been twice now and had a great time. The staff are amazingly knowledgeable about the (hundreds of) games they have. They have games for all ages, competive and co-op.
