We turned up on a Sunday night tired and hungry. Walked in and Scotland are losing 3:0 to Greece… oh dear. But the lady behind the bar was ace, looked after us really well. I had battered haddock and my wife went for a burger. Both were decent maybe a few too many chips but that always happens. The beer was spot on and wifey liked her wine. Really friendly place to eat and we’ll be back to try the curries.

I came into the cafe after work. I asked for skinny fries for my little sister jemima who is a very picky eater and waited for them with my friends. When I got them they were half skinny fries half chunky chips. I explained politely to them that I wanted skinny fries instead. After waiting 10 minutes I only got chunky chips. My sister jemima is very disappointed with them. She beat me up. Also my friend got a hair in her cheese and tomato panini. Super sad. 2 stars.

Popped in for the first time recently mid morning, missed breakfast and was very hungry. I ordered a tuna salad sandwich for myself, and 2 black pudding filled rolls for family. While waiting for them to be made to order, I couldn’t help but notice a delicious looking homemade cheesecake, so had to get a couple of wedges of that too for sharing, it was absolutely lovely, a total treat. Black pudding rolls and my tuna sandwich were much enjoyed, the bread was really good quality, not the cheap stuff, and the fillings also good quality and fresh. I shall be back, next time I will be trying the grilled hallumi sandwich, and most likely there homemade cake. Good quality food at a very reasonable price

Won't be back the owner is so rude . If you pay for drinks in a pub hotel . You expect a thank you. Total anti children our three year old was chatting and we Heard the owners rude comment about him . Also we took her seat . The poor lass who runs hand and foot for this person is so friendly it's the only reason we stayed so long . Won't be back and won't recommend to any of our family and friends that visit the port . Maybe someone will take over the Caledonian and make it a hotel and pub again . We have been visiting the port for 40 years and haven't experienced the unfriendly signal we got from the castle hotel .

What a perfect find. My friends and I took a trip from the black isle over to the hub today. Kids had a blast, adults could have a break and watch the kids, the food was great and prices were extremely reasonable. Staff were fabulous and great with the kids. The charity shop part was full of treasures, well laid out and great prices. Absolutely thrilled and will certainly be back. 100/100

Friendly welcome from staff. It’s not a store I would think to come to but I’m glad I popped in and found the Old Dairy coffee shop! Easy and free car parking is always a bonus! Good menu ,soups, All day breakfast, hot rolls, panini’s and great selection of home baked cakes on offer. Also my friend is Gluten free she had a full breakfast it even had gluten free haggis! She also took a gluten free scone home with her that she said was the Best she had ever tasted! Coffee is from the Inverness roasting company so always good to see a local company using another! We will be back very soon!

Have eaten here many times over the last few years and was always a joy, however....our last visit may well be our last visit. Ambience is still ok but the changes to food not very welcome. Sirloin Steak and spaghetti bolognese for mains. Sticky toffee pudding and custard and cheesecake of the day for desserts. Sounds mouth watering but lets dig a bit deeper. Mains arrive had to ask for sauces and condiments which when they did arrive wasn't what we had really asked for and no option of parmesan for the bolognese. Steak cooked to perfection i like medium rare and the "hand cut chips" i'm sure Aunty Bessie was proud of them. The steak was about 3/4 fat and grizzle, not how i remember them. The bolognese was served in a plate that made it look like a meal but the centre was shallow and the bolognese itself was runny and not that great tasting none of the mains cleared. There was no complimentary is everything ok chat. Now desserts sticky toffee pudding arrives in again a large rimmed plate with very little in the middle of where the dessert was. Measuring about 40mm by 45mm i thought i had ordered a kids portion ( similar to the bolognese main). The cheese cake then landed and looked and tasted like it had been sitting for a while again not fully consumed. We were sat not far from the bar area and watched conversations with front of house staff some of which did not look very comfortable with one lady in particular being the main reason for this a bit uncomfortable to say the least. The above with 2 pints and a soft drink came to @£73 and considering what we had and the experience all in left the bitterest taste in our mouths. Now i'm sure that many people have had great experiences here but unfortunately this wasn't us on this visit and compared to food quality and pricing in the past this is our last, We understand the current economy etc but you can't be seen to cut corners and not be noticed
