DO not make the mistake of going after 1530 as they only serve coffee and cakes then and you must sit outside

Great food and friendly staff. Loved the Sunday roast. Our dog is allowed to sit with us at the table in the entrance foyer. Keith & Lorraine

First time visiting since change of ownership and was highly disappointed. Very limited menu and very overpriced. We had the ciabatta with cheese and it was accompanied by a few green leaves, a small spoon of coleslaw and about six crisps which were soft. No chips on menu so we tried the wedges - greasy and oily and a couple were charred and inedible. We had intended having coffee and cake but didn’t bother. For those prices and poor quality we will not be back. Waitress was also slightly surly, plates were plonked down without a word.

Thank you Ewan for being so attentive and kind! My toddler forgot her biscuit and you noticed and kept it back!! Superb service too. Not a fan of the live music personally but thankfully we got a table at the back.

My partner (registered blind) and I have been to this cafe many times. We arrived on 14 March at 3.30 for coffee and cake. It was therefore 3.31 when we were served. We were told takeaway only available. We were 1 minute after the 3.30 deadline. When I commented about the 1 minute we were offered a seat next to the door with our drinks in paper cups and our cakes in a bag with no plates. We were provided with thin wooden spoons and forks. There is a notice on entering saying closing time is 4pm and takeaway only after 3.30. We hurriedly drank and ate while a member of staff vacuumed around us. I have given 2 stars because the coffee and the cakes were good. However a very disappointing experience. I doubt we’ll be back. We will be passing our experience to all our friends who also, until now, frequent the cafe. Mary Trayner

We found the menu to have something for everyone, including our vegetarian, gluten-free cousin. The staff were very helpful when answering her questions. You have to order at the counter (I prefer table service) but the food arrived quickly and was delicious. The portions are a generous size. Would definitely recommend.

I had the mushroom and broccoli soup of the day, with a delicious roll. The side of wedges were amazing, more like roast potatoes (not complaining) and the coffee was great too. Lovely staff, clean and nice atmosphere.

We visited the cafe on Saturday for lunch. Our food was ok but was very put off by all the added greenery on the plates, everything is covered in chives and also far too much salad with the burgers! After lunch we came back for coffee and scones….coffee was fantastic but the scones were far too big and also tasted like they were a few days old. A few things needing adjusting here I’m afraid.

August 23: visited again for lunch. Service good despite being queue out of the door (1pm). Choice for lunch is limited , soup, sandwiches , couple of seafood items and a burger. Posh fish finger sandwich was ok, could have done with seasoning. nice fish, nice rocket salad and home made slaw but bread was just standard sliced white bread which was half toasted and soggy so disappointing. Other half had a burger and came to £26. Cakes are small squares/ pieces at £3.75 which is not good value. July 23: Lovely place to visit for a snack or lunch.....surrounded by interesting range of shops to mooch in ( although sad to see that the whisky shop has closed) and a lovely Riverside walk. Also the gorgeous Logie House walled garden on site to look around for a small fee . The cafe is pleasant, and there is plenty of Shady and sunny outdoor seating, service was prompt with a number system. Sadly tea was pretty tasteless and my scone, while good size and texture was also pretty tasteless...needed a pinch of salt and much more cheese to qualify as a cheese scone! Date slice was very pleasant ....the cakes and scones are a little pricey at £3.25. Didn't have lunch items but there appears to be a good range of tasty looking dishes. Hope to try next time.

In fact, we did not have the opportunity to eat in it, but it has full services. Despite the small place, you will find clean restrooms, a place to eat, beautiful outdoor games for children, and a walkway along the river, which is considered the most important and beautiful adventure in the place. There is a small and intimate library with old books for sale, which I recommend. Especially for families

Loved this wee cafe , visited often for the beautiful food . Visited today for first time since taken over . Very reduced menu , opted for sandwiches that were very average, could have made better myself. Dry handful of leaves with a spoon fill of celeriac coleslaw . No dressing . Leaves gritty . Arrived at 1.20 and got food at 2.10 after waiting for ages in queue to order. One person on till and a good few folks running around taking orders out. Really wouldn’t bother with this . Cheaper & nicer alternatives in Forres or Grantown 😕

We arrived for lunch and were disappointed to find that the cafe only served brown bed, whilst I understand this is the healthy option my friend cannot eat brown bread and has a nut allergy and there was no other option, maybe keep a white loaf in the freezer for that odd customer who can't eat brown....

Delicious lunch (baked potato done perfectly), great friendly service, clean & bright, healthy options, unusual but interesting setting with shops etc surrounding it - fab afternoon out. Only thing in felt could have made it even better was a vegan cake option for my friend I was with. Will definitely be back!! Thanks!

Lovely hidden place. In a geen Environment and in combination with a few shops for whiskey, gifts, art, garden stuf and plants, etc. I ate a panini with cranberries, brie and walnut, my husband had soup and a pastry with chicken, tasted good! You can take a (very short) walk afterwards along the river, wich we did. It gives you a nice view.

We turned up for a late lunch at 3.30 this afternoon - bearing in mind that the sign outside clearly states open 9 am - 5 pm - only to be greeted with the following phrase after we had sat down and were discussing potential options. "Sorry to burst your bubble but the kitchen is closed" - almost as if the person was pleased that she had inconvenienced us! Somewhat surprised by this very weird greeting, my friends and I went outside but I did go back in to enquire why the sign said 5 pm. I was told that on the menus that it did state that lunch ended at 3.30 pm. Well why not state this on the sign outside, so that people can make their own decisions. A breakdown of times for breakfast, lunch and dinner would stop disappointment from the outset. So we went to Househill instead where we were greeted with a warm welcome and had a lovely lunch. Based on that one rather rude experience we won't be back to your establishment.

Awesome place with a gigantic choice of scotch whisky as well as a large collection of japanese whisky. This combined with a absolutley cozy atmosphere, delicious food and very very friendly staff makes it a fabulous place to spend the evening. I had the classic haggis balls as a starter, the fish&chips as main and toffee cake as a dessert. Everything was just outstanding. It was so good, we will pay it another visit tonight.

Edit: went back to Badenoch’s after they changed ownership. The service was still, not very good, but the food came out quickly. However, I ordered the chicken tenders, which to my knowledge were meant to be plain southern fried tenders, however, they had some sort of sauce all over them, making the sauces served on the side a bit useless. I don’t know if they just haven’t updated their menu, but it definitely caught me off guard. Also the table we sat out was dirty, so I’m not sure how clean they keep the place these days. I’m upping to 3 stars because the food was better, albeit a little strange. Went here on a trip to Elgin before moving and was not impressed. The staff were really nice but the food took over an hour to come because they only had one chef, understandable, but they should warn customers. When the food finally came, our starter came out with the rest of the food which was irritating but whatever, we were very hungry by this point, but unfortunately the burger buns were stale and fell apart immediately after being picked up so we had to both eat our burgers with a knife and fork and no bun. Definitely won’t be back for food but again, the bar staff were very kind and that’s why I gave at least 2 stars.

Great place with relaxed atmosphere. Starters and main meal was tasty but the desert was tasty but a very small portion of sticky toffee pudding. I did mention it when paying and the staff didn't even say anything. I expected more from the manager.

We highly recommend Threaplands. Perfect for buying a memorable gift, or some plants. But, also for the cafe there, which offers a great selection of food (all table service). We recently bought our Christmas tree here and will certainly be visiting often. Very friendly staff and plenty of free parking
