We highly recommend Threaplands. Perfect for buying a memorable gift, or some plants. But, also for the cafe there, which offers a great selection of food (all table service). We recently bought our Christmas tree here and will certainly be visiting often. Very friendly staff and plenty of free parking

Was sat for over 30 mins and nobody came to serve us, not even a drink, just everybody else including a family that had sat down after us. Don't expect fast food but also don't expect to sit with nothing and be ignored for over half an hour Edit: changed to 4* as I went back and had a much better experience and the staff were all lovely and food was delicious. Santa's grotto was also fantastic!

We visited in mid-November. It's not the biggest garden centre but did have an interesting range of goods on offer, particularly in the run up to Christmas. We visited the cafe/restaurant and the service was quick, even though it was relatively busy. For vegetarians the menu is pretty limited, not even a sandwich or wrap was available. I had baked potato which whilst not crispy on the outside, was huge and well filled and with a good side salad. All in all, a worthwhile visit.

We ordered afternoon tea for 3 - 5 days in advance - saying that we would be in at 1.30 to collect it. Had to wait for 40 minutes before it was ready. With no apology or offer of a coffee while waiting. The sausage rolls were straight out of the oven as they were still so hot and the Christmas Pies were a bit of a let down but that aside, delicious.

Awful service today. Just sat for over 25 minutes after waiting to get seated, and no one served us. They served everyone around us including those who came after and yet we couldnt even get drinks before food. Told lady on the way out and got a simple sorry that was it. We frequent the place often with our kids and we were all dissapointed to leave without anything.

Visited this garden centre on a Sunday to take my sister and brother in law out, who we were visiting. We went for lunch and to browse the shop. They only take bookings for a party of 10 plus but there's quite a lot of seating and we didn't have to wait. Could not fault the beef Sunday roast, which was absolutely delicious, and we finished off with a mince pie and coffee, my sister having a strawberry tart, again these didn't disappoint. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the whole bill for the 4 of us was reasonable. The shop also had some lovely things for all occasions too. We will definitely return here when we visit again and would highly recommend too.

Visited today for lunch, disappointed! Hubby had nachos with Chilli. Tiniest amount of Chilli on, I had the full roast. Beef ok, gravy tasted awful. Potato's pale and so were the parsnips. Broccoli overcooked. Didn't enjoy it and definitely not worth nearly £18. All others garden centres we have visited usually have quality food, this is not one of them. Will not be returning!

Very expensive and average at best. Popped in for a breakfast and paid over £40 for a fried breakfast, pancakes and kids breakfast. It was all very average and not vegetarian friendly in terms of variety. Staff were however friendly and it's a professional setup. I'm obviously not their target audience, I get that but I won't be taking family for meals until the menu becomes more veggie friendly and flexible.

Lovely menu, my only complaint is that I asked for something from the smaller appetite menu and was refused as its only for customers over the age of 60. I explained to the girl waiting on our table that I had recently had major abominal surgery and can't eat large meals at the moment. I was offered a child's menu. I declined this and asked the reason, and was told, because the owner says so. I'm sure I'm not the only person between the age of 5 and 60 that has a smaller appetite!!!

Stopped to have a look round for a new plant pot for the wife's ornamental tree. Went in the café bit for a spot on lunch let's just say I was impressed. The price is a little bit high but when you get the sort of quality you get here you don't mind paying extra. So far over 100 meals had here in the last 5 years and never a bad one yet. Staff are alway very polite and well presented. Cleanliness is amazing and are always cleaned after people leave. The only bad things I can think of is the car park is mostly loose gravel apart from the disabled bays and some people can't park their cars in the allocated parking, which is beyond the control of the garden centre. Ignore the post by Norma Jean she obviously doesn't know whats shes talking about. Sounds like another keyboard troll just trying to slander the good name of this place

Myself and a few other relatives have visited a few times, after the first was to give the resteraunt another chance. Everytime we have been the staff are incredibly rude and unprofessional. Particularly the older staff. On leaving the restaurant you're greeted with a sulking face and an icy goodbye which is the same when you enter. The staff didn't know where to seat us and even asked us (like we would know) where to sit. The tables are badly stained and so are the seats you sit in which raises the question of cleanliness. The food is average at best. So if you're paying £50 for a two person lunch you expect at least a grin when served your food. Again, we have tried to give the benefit of the doubt but we quite frankly wouldn't come back or recommend it to anybody we know. Lots of better competitors in the area.

This is one of the nicest garden centres I have had the pleasure to visit. Large parking area catering for most vehicle sizes leads you into a stylish building packed with numerous items covering several retail areas. Pleasant staff, a great food shop, and very clean toilets adds to the value experience. To the rear of the building is the garden shopping area which to be fair covers a large range of products that are high end but reasonably priced. A great place to visit and fully recommended. Downside is the A96 road which needs care on entry and exit due to speed and quantity of vehicles using it, that said it still doesn't detract from the great service offered.

Ok, I'll not give a 1 star review because I've been here many times before and it's been great. But today it was a disappointment as I usually have a light lunch, (a soup and scone or soup and sweet) and today's soup of the day was Cullen skink (even though it's on the menu permanently). As that wasn't my thing I thought I'd look for something else light but there were no other starters at all. The only other things I could see were smaller portions or mains which were only available for over 60s and bus parties apparently. I don't do sandwiches or wraps, not did I want a huge main course either. So I just got up and walked away and had something elsewhere. Maybe they need to cater more for everyone

Threaplands is a favourite of mine and have come here often. Last week I attended a baby shower and was very impressed at the quality of items offered. The sandwiches were full of filling, the sausage rolls melted in my mouth and the quiche - THE QUICHE! It was so good I plan on returning to have it as a main meal for lunch one day. The sweet section of the afternoon was also tasty. Service was amazing and the staff were so attentive. Love Threaplands coffee! Great afternoon tea at a great price. In fact I was at another afternoon tea this week at a "posh" hotel in Inverness and in comparison it was nowhere near as good as Threaplands and more expensive! We also had to pay to use a private room in the hotel (£95 for the hotel!!) But Threaplands didn't charge extra for us to use their private area which was much prettier. Restaurant always busy when I arrive but the staff get you sat down quite quickly. See you again Threaplands! (As for the lady complaining below about the person saying you can't bring dogs in. If you think she wasn't a staff member then why add a negative review to Threaplands when it might not have anything to do with them? Have you added a positive review for your other visits before this?)

Have visited this garden centre on several occasions and have always been able to carry our little dog around the centre, with each occasion us checking with staff prior to entering the actual garden centre. Today when visiting we once again followed what we had always previously done and was yet again told we could carry our little dog around as long as we didn’t put him on the floor. My wife and I were in the process of looking at something when some busy body, who never identified themselves, said we could not bring the dog into the garden centre, to which our reply was ‘we checked before coming in and was told we could carry him around’, this individual then once again simply turned round and once again said we don’t allow dogs in the centre. The person was not readily identifiable as working in the garden centre and appeared to be with a woman and child. We were not prepared to create a scene in the middle of a busy garden centre so took the decision to walk out. We were nowhere near the restaurant area or any food items and most other garden centres in Moray are dog friendly. We will now never return to this garden centre and we made our purchase today elsewhere!!! We also suggest that if the individual was in fact a staff member he undergoes suitable customer relation training as this is something clearly lacking.

Called in here as everywhere else round about seems to be shut on a Monday and Tuesday, why? Do they think no one wants coffee Mondays and Tuesdays. Anyway I digress. Very nice relatively small garden center with a very nice restaurant. I had the usual tester, as if you didn't know, a fried egg roll. Not the cheapest ever but I'll let them off as at least they were open. The roll was really nice and soft and the egg was almost perfect ( I have high standards on a roll and fried egg) not to runny but not solid either. The coffee was hot and strong and the staff were friendly. There is a nice small play area for the weans, although the age limit was upto 10yrs. The center its self had a nice selection of gifts and a superb selection of original birthday cards, not your usual rubbish. Never went into the plant section but looked well stocked. Mite need to go back to try the cheese scone as they did look good.

Threaplands is more restaurant with a gardening bit than garden centre. A lot of time, money and thought has gone into the restaurant. The range of food available is quite extensive. It was really busy when we visited (a Wednesday) and a look at the menu tells you why. They have a special offer for pensioners and also have specials of 2 or 3 courses. The garden centre is a let down. It is very small with little choice. Better gardening shopping is available in nearby Elgin or even Christies. The shop section is slightly better. However it still only took about 10 minutes to browse it all. If you are looking for a reasonably priced meal this is the place. If you're looking for gardening stuff I'd give it a miss.
