Menu said 5 chicken tenderloin but only got 3..when I asked waitress she said sometimes they give 3 when they are larger...as a chef I know the 3 I was given were average size. Such a shame as the service and flavours were good. £15 for 3 chicken tenderloin and chips not good value..was looking for a good local eatery...will keep on looking.

And then decided to grab 2 cakes on the way out to have later 😋 😀 Defo be back. 👌🏼👍🏼

When first opened after renovation the Toots bar area was thriving and provided fantastic quality bar meals. This is the first time I've visited in a while and arriving at 7pm on a Saturday night the Toots bar was empty, not a single soul around. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The menu has definitely changed, out with the good old favourites and replaced by a menu with items that sounded sourced from Masterchef. The starters, though extremely small, we're really nice (Local Roe Deer, and Shetland Scallops) the main course was much better portioned and was very tasty, Buffalo Shoulder, and a Buffalo Burger. The sweet however was extremely disappointing for those who chose the Clootie Dumpling, an extremely dry what seemed like Ginger Cake (nothing closely resembling a Clootie Dumpling) and covered in a green tasteless foam (described as Espuma) - luckily I had chosen the Biscuits and Cheese. The whole evening we were there a couple came in, as well as a single person. There was no atmosphere and the place has lost its buzz and life. I'm not sure if that because of the new overly fancy menu for a bar area, or the fact the locals no longer feel welcome in a atmosphere. Unfortunately both the menu, and the atmosphere will stop me from returning anytime soon, which is such a shame for a once great local business.

An amazing bar with lovely barman! Go here for an exclusive whisky and you will not be disappointed!! The bar stocks bottles from all over the world and for those less interested in whisky, the barman also makes great cocktails. When you order a whisky, the barman gets his keys and takes you to the whisky wall lining the back of the bar. Floor to ceiling, the wall is filled with different bottles. Upon locating your choice, the locks on the wall are opened and your bottle of choice is removed to pour you a dram. All in all the whole experience has a somewhat ceremonial feel to it :)A fun fact is that the family owning the hotel (in which the bar is located) are the ones who produce and maintain all the copper stills in the distilleries. There are small hits to this heritage throughout the building. One example is an overview of all the distillery stills and their shapes on the bar front.

We had a meal here to help celebrate our daughters birthday. There were 5 adults and a 4 year old. Very warm welcome on our arrival, quick to offer and deliver our drinks. Food ordered and quickly delivered, the food was exceptional. Excellent service from front of house team, at no time did we feel hurried. The room itself was not particularly big but it was warm, welcoming with lovely modern decor. Little touches like the menu card for dessert made it feel like you were somewhere a little bit pricey. The bill was a lot less than we thought it would be considering the standard of food and service. We can only say thank you to all on the evening 4th Sept. The food here is absolutely delicious! We had spent the day mountain biking nearby and were looking for somewhere for a hearty meal on the way home. We happened upon Toots by chance. The quality of the food exceeded our expectations. We all ordered different mains; beef pie, chicken wings, mac and cheese and seafood chowder. Not a morsel left! The local lager was also really refreshing and the treacle pie to die for! Yes, it is more expensive than pub grub but in our view well worth it!

For our two fish and chips portion of onion rings, half pint soda water and lime and a pint of windswept lager our bill came to £39.36

Went for the Sunday lunch as a table of six. Given the variable reviews and the availability of reservation slots I was not expecting the experience to be as good as it was. For £26.95 we had a soup course, a buffet table course (self service), main and dessert. The soup, supposedly seasonal, was a zingy homemade tomato, finished with a swirl of basil pesto. The buffet table had an excellent range of starters including smoked salmon, mackerel pate, soft set scotch eggs, serrano ham on the bone and other charcuterie. Mains meant the roast beef for most of us. Nicely cooked, pink, and very tender, complete with a large array of veg. The only downside was the slightly overdone Yorkshire pudding. The one of us plumping for the steak frites was rewarded with a full size steak and generous pile of fries. Desserts were massive, we had the almond tart, chocolate mousse, creme brulee and the cheese selection. All again good, though by this time some of us were struggling! Wine list is extensive but pricey, service reasonably attentive for a bistro and the atmosphere pleasant. It was a great way to spend 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon. I'll definitely be back.

We found this place on Trip advisor when looking for somewhere to have a nice meal on the last night of our holiday near Elgin. It is located in the bar of of the Station Hotel in Rothes, which has obviously recently been done up - I have no idea what it was like before but the renovations make for a pleasant environment, with a heavy nod to the whisky making and cooperage industries of the local area. (I believe you can also eat from the same menu in a more formal restaurant setting in another part of the Hotel - Pagodas). For our party of 7 (grandparents, parents and older kids in their teens and 20s) this place ticked all the boxes....although not cheap, the food was good, well presented and very tasty. The atmosphere was nice, it was reasonably busy for a Thursday evening, mainly with guests from the hotel but there also appeared to be a number of regular locals which is always a good sign of a decent restaurant/bar. What really stood out for us was the team of young staff - every one of them was welcoming, friendly, polite, smart and professional. And they seemed happy in their work. I really hope they are valued by their employer....staff like that are hard to find (and hard to keep), but they most certainly helped to set the place apart from all the other venues we have eaten this week. Would definitely return if in the area again.

Toots is the bar/restaurant in the Station Hotel. Go, it is a great place to eat, we booked a reservation for the following night even before dessert was served the first night we ate there!. The bar has the same menu as the restaurant and we preferred the more casual atmosphere, from the décor to the bartender, Steve, who chatted us up in the most welcoming and polite way possible. The menu is modernized Scottish – core local foods such as venison, beef, fish and so modernized with ingredients such as quinoa, avocado, sea asparagus and so on. You judge our first meal – for starters, we had scallops, a haddock chowder that is the best fish chowder I have ever had, light with a whole piece of fish, and a crushed avocado salad. Dinners were a whole baked sole with root veggies; hake with the saffron risotto and brocolini; venison with veggies and pearled couscous; a classic pastry with beef, potatoes, pearled onions and gravy served with those same root veggies, perfect mashed potatoes and the only clunker, kale with absolutely no flavor whatsoever – that is on purpose, just not to my liking. Dessert was a raspberry sorbet that tasted as if it were made just a few minutes before from fresh raspberries, vanilla ice cream with pieces of honeycomb and a too large cheese plate labeled small. The portions are large – all of them. We had two large glasses of wine, a sparkling water, a Diet Coke, tea and three single malts and the bill was 162 pounds – a bargain. The service was friendly and flawless – and after 13 days in Scotland, eating very well most days, this was the best meal to date.

I was very disappointed. I wasn't allowed to choose the alacarte menu as all they did was serve the set Sunday lunch menu. Despite that we had to wait 2.5hrs to have all courses served. We went in at 1:30. At 3pm. I had to complain saying the kids had their starters but hadn't got their lunch an hour and a half later. By then they had filled their bellies with cucumber that we had got from the bread and antipasti course. Soup was served after a couple of reminders. Eventually, after a couple of complaints we got our main meal quite quickly. Dessert again had a 30 min delay. All in all I would say go on there if you aren't too hungry or if you have nothing else to do. Not a place I would recommend or go back to despite the food being tasty.

Was a little worried when we could book a table for 8pm on a Saturday evening just a few days beforehand and sadly it turned out to be for good reason. To be fair the food was nice and presented beautifully, sadly however service was awful and the atmosphere in the restaurant non existent (unlike the bar that had a really good vibe). Service was just really poor across the board and for first time ever we asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill, as well as something that didn't even turn up. Also the menu was absolutely nothing like the one shown on Open Table, which must be very out of date.

I've been to this restaurant on several occasion previously. On arriving at the venue, I was made to feel that they didn't know about my booking, finally we were sitted. We were ignored for some period of time, we had to asked to be serviced - to which we were told that they had to check if that was ok. The waitresses returned after some time to take our drink & food order. We had a bread basket which should have been given to us with our drinks arrived after we had started our main meals. A waiter dropped a full glass of coke behind me, which splashed all over my bag, shoes & dry clean only skirt. I was also disgusted to see the price increases which are because of the regatta. Myself, friends & family will not going back to Hotel De Vin.

Have been in the past but wasn't very happy with the service speed this time. Wasn't a busy night so was very surprised how long getting simple starters took. Drinks also took for ever to arrive even though no one was at the bar. Overall we will go again as their mussels are fantastic however hope service improves next time.

The food is quite good. French bistro cooking - fresh, characterful, enjoyable and fairly priced. The service friendly, casual - bistro style. The room a bit too big and bland - lighting set low fortunately but still lacks ambiance and tables feel rather close together. On Sunday night it was very quiet but if full I think it would feel crowded. I would probably return if in the area, though there is some competition in the town so it might be a while before I do. For a hotel chain with a reputation for style I think they need to do a bit of a re-style on the restaurant.

Our dinner was at 8pm on Sat 31 August but despite a weekend in Summer at Henley, the restaurant wasa lot less than half full - that says a lot about the restaurant. Getting a drink outside was very slow, We ordered an expensive bottle of Super Tuscan wine that is well known to me and probably cost more than the food for the three of us. The bottle was opened without any care at the table as if it was standard house wine and whilst I was not corked, it certainly did not have the qualities I would have expected from an Ornellia. I asked for it to be decanted which was clearly not appreciated by the waitress. It was dumped back on the table in a stone cold decanter. We wont bother with this chain again.

the service during our lunch was excellent. The food was OK but was rather highly priced compared with similar elsewhere. It cost us £106 for lunch for 3 which only included 2 glasses of wine. There did not appear to be a set lunch menu any more. My salmon was served with black potatoes ( a heritage brand ) . They were very flavoursome but really did not look appealing on the plate!

We have eaten a few times at the HDV and the last couple of visits have been disappointing. We love the bar area and the bistro which has great atmosphere and ambience (as do all HDV that we hav visited) but the food is not as good as it used to be a couple of years ago and so we were a bit disappointed. Our meal was Ok but I wouldnt recommend anyone go here for a great meal out

We've visited Hotel du Vin in Henley on several occasions, and until now have always had a very good experience. Unfortunately, on this occasion we were very disappointed. I understand that HdV were running a 'pop-up' restaurant as part of the Henley Festival, but if they were unable to run that and the existing restaurant to the same standard, they should either have closed the restaurant or made it very clear to customers that service was not going to be to the usual standard. Despite what appeared to be 3 serving staff, and probably no more than 4 or 5 tables in use outside (none used inside at all, from what I could see) getting any service at all was a challenge. Courses were delivered in a haphazard fashion, as were drinks.

This was a double birthday celebration for widely scattered family. Using toptable made finding a venue convenient for all was easier. The week before Hotel du vin rang to change the time and then on the day rang to say they couldn't fit us in! Wonderful start to my birthday but they "found" space. Despite the difficulties in booking this meal we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the waiting staff who went out of their way to look after us. I cannot fault the quality of the food or the service. The management however have difficulties so check, check and double check to avoid the appalling mess we experienced.

Great food and friendly staff. Loved the Sunday roast. Our dog is allowed to sit with us at the table in the entrance foyer. Keith & Lorraine

It's a great place to sit out with the dog and have a meal. I have had good experiences when dining with my partner or friends. Unfortunately, on this one occasion, I was on my own with my dog and unable to go into the restaurant, so I asked a passing member of staff for a menu, which was brought out to me. Unfortunately, I waited 20 minutes for a response to order a meal. A couple sat next to me, kindly looked after my dog while I went to the bar to see why no one had come back to take my order. The reply was " I forgot" 🫣. Oops . I ordered a prawn cocktail with a salad and a piece of crusty bread, as described on the menu. But, what I received was a wee portion of shrimps in a wee dish containing a scrap of lettuce, a tiny wedge of tomato, and a thin slice of cucumber. The best bit was that the crusty bread was a slice of fruit bread. The description and the price did not reflect on the quality and quality of the prawn cocktail. Therefore, I can not give it a 5 star rating.

Some of the local produce and bakery items were decent, but so much of what they sell is overpriced, and you can find it elsewhere. They do have a nice selection of gifts, but that’s really the only plus. However, one staff member in particular, came across as really stuck up and seemed to be giving my family and me dirty looks—not very approachable.. We didn’t try the coffee shop, so can’t comment on that but not exactly in a rush to return.

We had the best afternoon tea at Threaplands! There was sausage rolls, quiche, a good mix of sandwiches, delicious cakes and copious amounts of tea! All served by friendly, helpful staff. A great experience. We’ll definitely be back!
