Ordered two avocado and poached eggs on toast, one with black pudding extra. Managed to eat the black pudding and egg yolks but that was about it. A piece of sourdough (?) toast covered in sharp tasting avocado, topped with two eggs that neither looked poached nor fried - something in between? Egg whites looked grey and gelatinous and not at all pleasant. For balance, we were only charged for the drinks.

I have been coming here once a week to meet my friend once a week for a catch up and a cuppa! The waiting staff are lovely and very friendly and obliging. I recommend the Strawberry Tea which is a choice of scone with butter and a wee jar of Tiptree jam and a hot drink from the menu, I really look forward to my weekly visit and I recommend this cafe as the breakfasts are lovely too with all sorts of combinations from sourdough and avocado to more traditional filled rolls.

In our opinion this is the best coffee shop in town. The photos do not do it justice. Their homemade scones and cakes are amazing and the coffee is so smooth and tasty. Since reopening after covid they have set up an excellent system with really tasteful clear dividers between the tables, there is a very robust cleaning/sanitising system in place using red/green cards on the tables to show which ones are ready. We visit on a regular basis and all of the staff are so friendly and efficient even whilst being busy.

Would highly recommend a visit here. It’s a beautiful cafe, very airy and bright and under unusual circumstances it is well equipped with screen etc, staff wear masks. It is a very safe feeling environment to eat. They have taken all the steps to make it feel safe and I will be visiting again next week. I visited with a friend, “mac and cheese toastie” was the special which my friend had and I have to say it did look amazing! I opted for the vegetable broth. The soup was really good and the brown bread on the side was very fresh and very tasty.

After visiting the Hospital, my wife and I (mainly me) were a bit peckish and some welcomed advice led us here. As you entered, you were directed through the main shop (which was quite niche actually). It's possibly best described as an extensive card shop with unique gifts and jewellery - a lot of which is manufactured by local businesses. For the cafe itself, you needed to climb one floor up the stairs located at the rear of the premises. The cafe boasted fairly comfortable seating and a decent menu. The 'Vegetarian' options (I felt) were a little bit overlooked but I found a 'Panini' nonetheless (please see the photograph). It was great and the sides were a worthy accompaniment. My wife had a 'Coca Cola' and I had a 'Latte' which were both good. The 'Rolo Cake', which came as part of a meal deal, was tasty but very dry. The staff were accommodating throughout and the overall cost was £11.20 - not too expensive by all accounts. I can confidently say that we would both come back to sample something different on the menu.

Our first visit here. We parked opposite Tesco, near M&S, for £2.50 for 3 hours. There's also an electric vehicle charging station there too. A couple of minutes walk to Bijou, upstairs for lunch, with our friends. Quick, welcoming, smiley, capable staff took our orders, which arrived quickly (considering that it was packed). Over the years have came here 3 or 4 times. Not sure why I’ve not reviewed it before as every visit has had the same experience of this weekend! Apologies! Back to school treat for my kids! However when we visited today.... it was different, people queuing because there were not enough tables but they didn’t leave they insisted on standing to wait, I don’t blame them! Elgin is very limited to pub grub and the usuals! Bijou although the menu isn’t exhaustive, what it does offer though is enough for lunch! But with the added bonus of the their special board! Most places you go to eat for lunch don’t really have a lunch menu (it’s more supper time/tea time)... a full meal! Everything is fresh and local! Particularly love the bread they serve with soup! It tells you on the menu their suppliers! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch not anything left on any of our 3 plates! Whilst I was trying to get my fussy youngest daughter to drink her hot chocolate I couldn’t help but notice the table next to ours food being served! One had a prawn salad and the other Was chicken, it looked like it had a chilli dressing but might be wrong! Wished I had the prawn salad as it looked really nice! Would now like to try the first Bijou by the sea at Buckie without my youngest fusspot of a daughter. Photo of hot chocolate courtesy of my eldest daughter who loves visiting Bijou. It’s very well attended, there are always staff cleaning the tables properly for the next party to sit down. This is the busiest I have seen it so hats off to you all for coping well under pressure.

As I live near Elgin I often meet friends for lunch.... I also have lots of visitors to Moray and like to take them out to various cafes, etc. for lunch, refreshments etc. However, the last two visits have been very disappointing. I went in at 4pm for a coffee and scone.. I chose the cherry scone. One quarter cherry in the whole scone. I sliced it to put the butter in and couldn't even butter it, it crumbled. I had to use my teaspoon to eat it. Did I mention it at the checkout - yes. Only to be told, sorry about that but sometimes our scones are like that. No word of I will mention it to the chef or a discount. Then was in again on Friday for lunch with visitors. I took the club sandwich.... There were 8 small crisps on the plate along with a small salad. I took two of the crisps and thought they tasted foosty...... tried a third and ask my friend to try and we both agreed that they were stale. The Assistant, Alison, asked if everything with our lunch was good and I asked her to try one of the crisps at the side of my plate - she did and agreed that it was not right. She mentioned to the manager when our plates were taken away and then was told that it was a new brand....... don't think they were new - they were old and stale and not crunchy. Again, no apology at the check out. I must admit each time I am in I notice the staff and one in particular always stands out. She smiles, asks how you are and takes your offer. She is a lovely lady, very upbeat and helpful. I am glad when she serves me...... I asked her name the other day as I would like to commend the helpfulness of Alison. A lovely lady. I notice too that she is always on the go.... never stops to blether to the other assistants - she sees what has to be done and does it. I would employ her if I had my own tea shop. Great with the customers and also noticed that if its an elderly couple or.... there is a gentleman who comes in regularly for coffee and cake that she always is courteous and helpful to him. It brings a smile to his old face.

After walking around Elgin we came across the Bijou cafe, the menu looked good and the overall impression was favourable, lunch was served until 4pm and it was a little after 2.45am so we thought fine, this would do us. So we sat at the table, waitress approached asked if we were ready to order, we asked for more time, decision made we ordered the food. well that was the plan, but alas, no baked potatoes left, so chicken burger and a steak burger next option, fine all good, but no not to be, no steak burgers, I could have accepted it if it was a "dish of the day" but not items as straight forward as burgers or potatoes. The waitress should also have informed us that certain items were now off the menu, so with nothing else on the menu that we fancied we headed off to Baxters in Fochabers, great service and everything on the menu available.

Nice place, although was confused as to how to get in. I'm probably not the target market here, neither was my brother. 2 hungry people looking forward to a belly busting breakfast and.... Well...... What came out was 2 very small oval plates (think slightly larger than a side plate) with an extremely thin slice of black pudding, 2 lovely but very small rashers of bacon, one rock solid over done egg (brothers was fine) and a bog standard pork sausage. No beans, no mushrooms, no grilled tomato, no tattie scone, no..... Lots of no's really. It was a breakfast for those with close to zero appetite and with no option of going larger. More of a snack to be peered at - if a roll had been provided I would have filled it and had a standard large filled roll which can be had at a fraction of the £5.95. I would have happily paid £10 for a good freshly cooked Scottish breakfast and indeed was quite taken aback at what my £6 got me. Admittedly I did think it was on the cheap side and was surprised by the prices, however Honey I Shrunk the Breakfast soon appeared and I realised why only the £6.So must i go on about the breakfast? Yup, I must. I shall say that if it was to be described by way of how many ants could pull it along, i'd say 5. Or one dung beetle. It could have been delivered by carrier pigeon at no stress to the bird, or trundled in by a hamster with a harness and micro cart. I half expected Jeremy Beadle to pop out from his grave and for me to be starring on ITV with a puzzled look on my face whilst I reached for my microscope not realising we had signed up for the local colleges Micro Organisms Class. So yeah, nice place, and a good Breakfast SNACK but... Maybe an option for bigger would be good as I could have eaten 3 and with a full belly I would have stayed for more coffees and spent double the £20 we spent!!

We received a very warm welcome. The rooms were all en-suite. They were very clean with tea and coffee making facilities. A perfect stopover for our Moray Coastal walk.

Gréât place to stop for proper coffee (the best in Speyside), snacks, and it’s right next to parking and a secure playground for the kids.

While staying at findhorn bay camp site we decided to try Pizza for a quick meal . We had ham and pineapple pizza , garlic bread with feta dip and finished it off with tiramisu. It did not disappoint, especially the tiramisu.Decent size of pizza , plenty for 2 of us with 2 slices left to eat later .Didn’t have long to wait .

Friendly staff, felt very welcome without being stifled. Lovely cafe with home cooked foods. We arrived in time for lunch service. Great selection for all. I had homemade Cullen Skink, best I have ever tasted! Ordered 2 children's meals too of chicken breast burger and Mac n Cheese. Deluxe hot chocolate was amazing, piled high in cream, Marsh mallows and chocolate. Very reasonable prices for home cooked food. Highly recommended. Busy place and rightly so!

Just one turn away from the Main Street a nice little shop. We had Crepes of the day with cheese meatballs and Panini. Nice people there, families with children and grandma.
