The menu in the bar is pretty limited at lunchtime at least We had fish pie and fish and chips which were excellent but a starter of smoked salmon ceasar salad was fantastic. Made a reservation on a Sunday lunchtime - be warned that the bar does not open to 1230 and we were sent away from the hotel having arrived at noon hoping to get an earlier service or at least a drink… not the Scottish hospitality you might have imagined….we would have left but there are pretty much no choices for an hour’s drive… Have stayed in the hotel in the past and it is very nice but the bar will not get another visit from us despite the good food

Outstandingly good dinner. We were a party of 5 friends. The manager, Alex, couldn’t have been more helpful with the booking. And the chef Paul gave us the most delicious dinner. White onion soup, my friend who was a chef rated it the best, and then followed by the freshest of fish delicately cooked in a very light sauce with superb vegetables. Can’t rate highly enough. Will definitely be coming back next year if I can.

The place has stunning views over the Summer Isles, but for an expensive hotel some things fall short. The plumbing in the room was outdated, no tissues, rudimentary toiletries. The bar had no cocktails. Dinner was very good, and breakfast fine, but service was haphazard.

The woman serving us tried really hard, but . . . To begin, it's not open all day as the web site suggests. A good start, we were quickly brought a (limited) lunch menu and water. The ale I had was drinkable but had probably been sitting in the pipes too long. We all asked for ham and wholegrain mustard sandwiches on wholemeal / brown bread. Soon came said sandwiches on white bread with English mustard. 'Sorry, but the other bread was frozen'. Two rounds were sent back for defrosted bread. Three errors there. This is supposed to be the village's best hotel, and we have got used to very high quality food in Scotland. The ham was thin, cheap, and awful. Apart from the service, the only thing they got right was to drop the bill 20%. The worst experience for miles. G

I’ve been visiting Achiltibuie for decades and occasionally eat in the hotel or adjacent bar. My most recent experience was not great from a G&T being served in a tiny glass (I had to ask for it to be transferred to a tumbler) with no slice of anything; to mediocre overpriced food. £10 for a bowl of ordinary soup and £28 for risotto is not great. The latter was dry and the seafood served with it really poor. Our party had to ask for langoustines to be replaced as some of them were green. It was alarming that initially we were told by our server that the chef said it would be OK to eat them. A really disappointing experience - 4 starters and 4 mains with a bottle of house white cost c£200. I accept costs will always be higher given the location, but the Summer Isles Bar would be so much better if it stuck to well cooked, gastro pub food. I do wonder whether aspiration has triumphed over capability.

Very high prices and very low flavour.

Eating at this hotel has been on my bucket list for a number of years and I wasn’t disappointed. A very warm welcome and extremely pleasant staff greeted us. We were on a magazine write up for the NC500 and we called in on a lovely day to find the place virtually empty. It is off the beaten track and was surprised its a long way from the sea, certainly not anywhere near the shore. Plus the car park is in front, which rather spoils the view of the sea. Fish soup was very good, however. Hotel prices very very dear.

Our Air B and B host was somewhat critical of this restaurant but as I am the sort of person who likes to make up my own mind...and also there are so few places to eat in Achiltibui, we had dinner at the Summer Isles Hotel. The staff were lovely and welcoming and we were able to bring our dog in. We had a table outside in the sun with a lovely view. The food was really nice and the wines also good. Delicious ice cream! I had fish pie which was good and really nice vegetables with it. My partner had a near dish which was slightly dry but when he commented to the waiter he was lovely and they took the constructive criticism well. It just could have done with a bit more gravy. It was a tiny bit more expensive than the pub a couple of miles along the road but that was mainly due to having better wines on offer...The food prices were pretty similar. Our Air B and B host was wrong!!

We came here as part of our NC500 drive. It is slightly off the route but worth a stop as the views are incredible. We could have eaten in the hotel restaurant but it looked quite stuffy compared to the more simple bar which had a great menu with lots of specials. We had mussels and fish - everything was really tasty. Only point to note is that the bar/wait staff didn't seem particularly clued up. Long drive to get here, but you wouldn't do this as a 'destination' pub, you are here because you are touring this loop - which otherwise has such limited tourist services that I am amazed anyone complains about not being worth the long drive to get here. The bar is very clean and well kept, with the plus that the staff are really friendly. Even in the face of a pig ignorant American who treated them like trash: we were very impressed at their self control! There is an outdoor eating area at the bar entrance with no smoking (yay!) and opposite is beer garden to sit in with dogs but limited view as the hedge is so high. The menu is limited though, especially if you don't want fish. We ordered the special steak pie (£15.95 - but imagine the trek to keep the kitchen larder stocked!)and had a pie dish stuffed full of huge pieces of meltingly tender steak and the best most crispest and crumbliest puff pastry I have ever tasted - if that is ready made, then I wish I know who by! Also lovely chips but soso veg. The only thing we felt let down by was my husband's 'alcohol free' beer - necessary with the somewhat over zealous Scottish drink drive laws. It even said alcohol free on the label. But read the small print, and it says very clearly it is low alcohol. Not a problem, but a candidate for trading standards if ever there was one.

It's a long drive from anywhere. But we went into the bar full of hope. It's small, about 18 covers. A table for 6 was taken, the other for 6 was reserved, the table for 2 by the window was taken, but as we hadn't booked, we were pleased to be given a table at all. The maitre d' was distracted and said something about mussels, and "only a few oysters left". The daily Specials showed "broccoli veloute". We ordered : "I'll have the mussels, and he wants the langoustines". "No mussels"..... oh,ok. "I'll have the veloute then". As we were waiting, two bikers came in in their leathers. There was a small unoccupied table next to us, but apparently the Bar was full. So they left. 25 minutes later, the maitre d' returned."No veloute. It's leek and potato soup". But your Specials board says...and it's taken you 25 minutes to tell me about the soup ?! My husband's order was brought to table. The langoustines were ice cold ( frozen and then thawed?). "Excuse me, these are very cold indeed" . "Well, they came in yesterday and have been in the fridge since". The attitude to customers was almost amusing, a la Basil Fawlty. Why were we so picky, so fussed about the incompetence and off-handed attitude of the staff ? We ate quickly, not hard as I only had a bread roll. The good news ? Well, they did knock 50% off the bill. At 1.30 and still hungry, maybe they should have paid for my petrol to reach this remote and disappointing place. Hospitality isn't their strength

We had a very luxurious and comfortable 2 day visit to The hotel. We ate in the restaurant the first night which was extremely special meal, Everyone commenting on their fine dining experience. The second evening we stayed in the bar and had a bar meal which was also superb. The bar/restaurant has a great wine list and whisky/gin lovers are well catered for too. There are 3 local real ales avaialble and all the staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful

We were staying at the hotel and due to some unforeseen circumstances could not have dinner at the hotel but were directed to its pub. We received a nice welcome, enjoyed good local food and a fresh draught beer.

We arrived there after a very long journey, as there is only one single route to reach Achiltibuie, but once you are there you understand it is worthwhile! The menu of the restaurant is for fine dinner and high prices. But there were no table free so we had dinner in the pub, which was really good and a little less expensive than the restaurant. Very good starter and excellent main courses. To recommend, but maybe better to give a look at the website in order to understand the fine dinner you can have and then to reserve if you want to try the restaurant.

went the for a family meal here last night after checking the place out the afternoon before. It's quite small in the restaurant so we wisely booked in advance. Quite a small menu but something for everyone, especially if your a fish lover like myself.Service was good, efficient friendly staff. The food was superb, even my fifteen year old son was impressed which frankly is the biggest praise anyone or thing could get. Fish and chips are a must, as a Yorkshire man I often say that nowhere can top ours, but these were nothing short of stunning.Booked again for tomorrow. Fabulous

Went off with friends on a two day overnight trip to the West Coast and stayed over at this splendid hotel. We were put up in th "cottage", a two storey three bedroom house. although it had excellent self-catering facilities we ate in the hotel. All rooms were en suite and one of them had a jacuzzi bath and between the two upstairs rooms there lurked a small sauna cubicle. The huge kiving/dining/kitchen area had splendid views of the Summer Isles.Forgot how long it took to cover the miles on a single track road - but it was well worth it.

Had a great meal with 8 friends. Service was good and the food quality above standard for a "pub" dinner.Highlight was, according to our "pudding" expert, the sticky toffee pudding. Would highly recommend.

It's a long trip on single track road to reach this hotel but it's well worth it. An amazing location with incredible views and a feeling of calm at the end of the world. The room was ok and the food in the restaurant excellent. We will go again

This must be one of the worst pubs I have been in. Tables were filthy , floors were sticky and staff were uninterested. We ordered two drinks and could not find a clean table, then after using the toilets and actually feeling the stickiness of the floor , left. There are so many nice bars in this area, if you see it ... walk on by ! Giving it one star is flattering!!

Visited 3 times in 5 days and probably spent more on coffee than we did on merchandise (and Tiso is an excellent shop by the way). Excellent coffee, lovely cake selection and a truly fantastic full English/Scottish breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. View to the Cairngorms outstanding and our doggy companions most welcome.

Dreadful food. After waiting for more than 40 minutes our inedible burgers arrived. Mine had 2 pieces of lettuce and a dry patty that was inedible until I added barbecue sauce. By the time the sauce arrived it was cold so even less pleasant. My husband's burger had bacon that was so hard he couldn't cut it. And the same patty. I gave an honest answer when asked about my meal and suggested they needed a new cook. It was the worst meal I have eaten in years. I'm told it used to be good. Avoid it at all costs.

Fantastic to have so many GF options to eat. We both opted for GF pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and a coffee. The coffee was perfection and the pancakes utterly delicious. Big, fluffy and just THE best find in Inverness! Thank you ❤️
