Excellent food and service, relaxed atmosphere, good selection on menu, tray bake and scones are delicious. Also often visit for a coffee after using the gym.

Finally visited the Dower House today . So disappointed. One woman trying frantically to serve a long queue of customers. Outside seats fabric all damp after night before rain ( it’s Scotland take them in ! ) The dog of one customer in the long queue pooed on the cafe floor. Coffee and scones were fine but I won’t rush back to this circus.

Love this place. Lovely staff, amazing scones and coffee and sparkling raspberry lemonade is so good. Will keep returning to try the whole menu.

Coffee decidedly average & expensive for size of glass mug. Was horrified to see the staff member let his hair down and start brushing it, right in the middle of the kitchen / serving area. A few minutes later he put out some freshly made baguette's. Disgusting behaviour and amazing he thought was acceptable! Will definitely not be back & will stick to Snax Cafe & Cult Coffee next door in the future.

2 friends & I stopped off here for brunch when out on a walk. The cafe itself is lovely, spotless & lots of room. I went up to order us 3 teas & 3 bacon toasties. I was asked if I wanted a side salad & crisps with the toasties. I said yes, assuming it was included in the £4.95 price. The toastie was tasty & had a few crisps & a handful of lettuce. But when I went to pay, was charged £2 extra per toastie! We all felt that this was over the top for what would normally be included anyway. The total bill was £27, which we felt was too much. Don't think we will be back 😏

Located in Dean Village this is a great place to stop for a morning coffee and breakfast bun (with choice of fillings including haggis). Limited seating but I would recommend takeaway, sit and eat on the many low walls in Dean Village.

If you come to Edinburgh at any time of the year, you must try Sofi’s ice cream. I have been to Edinburgh twice, once I tasted simple ice cream, once I tasted ice cream pancakes, in short, they are legendary. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are also cute seats to sit on.

We try to visit the Little Green Van whenever we visit Portobello to walk along the beach with our dog. Great coffee (offers several options of non dairy milk) and always a great selection of cakes. Opted for the vegan carrot cake which was delicious. Expect to queue, but worth it. They offer dog biscuits and cushions for using for sitting on the prom wall.

Had a great selection of fresh produce. Everything there was top notch. Staff were very nice. Different from the usual commercialised outlet. Always wishing to go back.

A consistently well-poured pint of Theakstons, regardless of the member of staff serving it. Wine wasn't too bad either. Good atmosphere with views of the Forth Road Bridge.

I would class this as my favourite local within the surrounding area, staff are always friendly and the locals are great

Over the summer there's nothing better than visiting the Pavilion Cafe, I go for cups of tea and sometimes lunches. My favourite meal is a halloumi wrap, and I love the chai tea, but all the food and drinks are just amazing : )

I went with my husband and a lady friend of ours. We popped in for lunch. Votadini is a lovely coffee shop owned by the extremely friendly Brunton Family. It has a very varied menu. From their famous mince and tatties to home made soups and choice of puddings and ice creams. Old fashioned sweetie shop.for bringing back memories of childhoods lost. This Family friendly shop encourages the customers to bring in their dogs, very pet friendly. With a lovely warm old fashion range fire on the cold days . It's the kind of place where you will want to linger over a coffee and a cake
