This restaurant/bar is definitely worth a visit! The interior decor is lovely and has been done to a very good quality. The staff were attentive and good at giving suggestions for food and remembered all the specials without having to double check. Didn't get offered a second drink but to be honest we probably wouldn't have needed another. The food was unreal! I had the game pie and my partner had the chicken and mushroom pie and both were stunning. The mash is also very good. Would definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area

We were looked after by Sian who went above and beyond and helped myself with a dairy intolerance and explained everything - nothing seemed too much trouble. Food was delicious. Had an excellent meal and drinks with the girls here last weekend! The ambience and decor are stunning; dimly lit and beautiful styled. The menu is varied enough that there is something for everyone and includes lots of luxury hearty favourites. Our meals were incredible and so were the cocktails we ordered. Every member of staff we came across were lovely, enthusiastic and friendly. My ONLY flaw (and it was a little one) was that, where we were seated, the tables did seem quite close together. This wouldnt put me off though as everything else was great and we will definitely be back!

I really liked the theme of the bar and it made me check out the book of the wind in the willows. I will try their dishes and Sunday roast as it all looked promising. I have been in the place with one of the international events and we had flags as where we are from ( mine was Turkish flag). Not sure if this is related though, one of the staff bullied me for waiting at the wrong point of the bar while I was trying to queue. And it did not happen, when other customers were waiting at the exact point. There was lack of space anyways. Overall what I experienced was not nice and I have been treated rudely. And, other people who came after me served before me on top of that. I really know how Edinburgh cares about the queues. It was not nice and it was rude. But I am still interested in going there and tasting their food also. Maybe will update the rate after. Cheers

Appalling. Service exceptionally slow, we waited 20 minutes for drinks, went to the bar to check up on them and the server brought them over with attitude ‘it takes a while to make an old fashioned’ (probably the easiest cocktail to make) no apology. I would advise you to not to speak to customers so rudely. Several items were off the menu, the reason being they had gone to the ‘pre-order’ Xmas tables so they had run out, so poor. Never again.

Fabulous restaurant, wonderful staff and good food! My only criticism (as a honest review) there was a LOT of salt on the chips, and even though I love salt, even I found it overwhelming. However, I think it was a one off and accidentally done - we really still enjoyed ourselves, whilst every other element of our dinner was delicious! We ordered… Starters was French onion soup, mains we chose fish & chips and the haggis and steak pie with mash, dessert was sticky toffee pudding. It’s dog friendly, which helped us decide to go there as we had our spaniel with us on the trip! Highly recommend this place!

I was looking forward to our visit to the restaurant with my wife and daughter. However, we were left disappointed with the service from the start. First off, when we were shown to our table, I removed a cushion to sit down, which revealed a large wet patch on the seat. I pointed this out to our server and asked if they could wipe it. She returned with a napkin and handed it to me for me to deal with. I was slightly taken aback by the lack of care and professionalism of this action due to it not being my mess to deal with. Due to the low light of the restaurant, I was unsure if this substance was water, alcohol or a dish sauce. However, I mopped it up as best I could in front of the other diners and took my seat. Next, we attempted to order our drinks. I don't drink alcohol or sodas and so requested bottled water, as did my 12 year old daughter. We were told they do not serve bottled water but that fizzy soda water was available. The server then gestured towards the table water, so I said that was fine, we would drink that even though we had already quaffed half of the bottle with no offer of a refill. This service was enough to make up our minds early on that we would not be staying for a 3 course meal, as was our initial objective. My wife and I ordered 2 starters, and our daughter ordered a burger. We requested this all to be served together, paid our bill, and left. This was possibly the shortest time we've ever spent in a restaurant. Won't be back.

Visited twice during my solo holiday from the US. Once for a round of drinks which were fine. It was sunny enough to enjoy them in their outdoor/street side area but being Scotland, it got chilly fairly quickly. The toilets were a bit aways (inside, signs on the floor will lead you downstairs). Unfortunately the toilets smelled of urine but it was decently clean inside. Several days later, I was nearby and needing to make a quick dinner decision before my early flight out the next morning. I sat inside this time and found it quite comfortable. I ordered the haggis fries (chips) and french onion soup. Waitress was friendly, asked about food intolerances and was attentive to my sensitivity to lactose. I later overheard her speaking German to German patrons which was nice to see as you could tell they appreciated it. Like some establishments, there is a 10% service fee added to the bill. I had a significantly decreased appetite since landing in Scotland and barely finished half of my meal everywhere and B&co was no exception. Everything was tasty but I found everything a bit too salty even with the expectation of chips and french onion soup to be on the saltier side. I just wish the bathrooms would get a good scrub down to eliminate the odor.

As an American visiting Edinburgh, it's worth a second, third or fourth trip back to Badger & co. The atmosphere: the place is fantastic and a little whimsical. The seating is classy, yet comfortable and matches the decor of the restaurant. The entrance really transports you into the world of Badger & co. It's an experience on its own. The food: We went for a late lunch/early dinner. So the place wasn't packed but not empty either. I had the chicken and mushroom pie with the hickory mash. A meal I don't regret and won't easily forget. The pie crust was flaky, buttery and what you would hope for in pie. The chicken and mushroom was fresh and delicious. Then, add the potatoes and you are in heaven. My husband even took several bites, after his burger. We even found a reason to go back - the Sunday roast is our next visit. The service: we had a newer waitress but she was still knowledgeable about the meals, what she didn't know she quickly got an answer to. She was so polite, so helpful and not overbearing. What I presume was the manager also came over to talk to us and he was friendly and talked to us about the ins and outs of Edinburgh in general. He gave us great recommendations! The bar: The bar is first thing you see when entering, and when I say it's fully stocked, I mean it is fully stocked! I wish we had more to say but didn't partake in the bar/drinks. We just didn't have time and energy after a long morning/day. Overall, yes. Take the short walk up the path to this restaurant 10/10

Regrettably, I can’t find anything significantly great to say about the visit. Nipped in here very randomly after dinner plans didn’t work out else where. Aesthetic of the venue is great and was very nostalgic for someone who grew up watching and reading Wind in the Willows. Starters were ok, but main meal for 2/3 of our group was inedible. Ordered the panzanella salad and the croutons, which made up the majority of the dish, were so big they barley fit in my mouth properly and were rock solid so much so I couldn’t even put a fork into one and would have genuinely broken my teeth if I had attempted to bite into one. My partner ordered the steak and haggis pie - we were told the restaurant were well known for their pies - and he had to scrape the meat of the bottom of the dish it was cooked in as it was so burnt to the bottom and black with being so over cooked. There was no gravy in the pie so it was also dry as a stick and there was no sign of any haggis?!? Understandably disappointing especially with the prices on this menu. The saving grace was the staff, particularly one lady (didn’t catch her name unfortunately) who organised our table for us and accepted no payment towards what we did have as a way of an apology. Have given a low service rating due to the food - staff in the actual restaurant were lovely and accommodating!

This restaurant is beautiful but honestly really disappointed in our visit. The service was lacking from the start and got worse, pretty inattentive and then our food took ages to arrive. We checked in around 40 minutes after ordering (I had to get up and go speak to someone) and our server said they would go and check with the kitchen. A further 15 or so minutes later our food was delivered by a different server with no apology or explanation. It very much felt like our order had been forgotten about and rushed to be made and sent out. Which isnt the end of the world, mistakes happen, but they can be mitigated with a little bit of good service/accountability which they just didn't have. In terms of the food I specifically asked when ordering and was told the seasonal veg was oven roasted then pan fried and what I was served was boiled cabbage and broccoli. I don't know if that was a result of a rushed cook or a mistake in the info from the server. The tarte tatin was lovely but the side salad was overly seasoned with large chunks of salt that overpowered it completely. The steak pie was lovely though. I normally would have spoken to someone at the time but there was very limited contact with the staff and we had waited so long that we physically did not have time. We had to rush our food and pay the bill while we were still eating to get out on time for where we needed to be. To reiterate this was not because we hasn't given ourselves enough time for a full meal, it's just that our food arrived an hour after we were seated.

There's a lovely atmosphere and the room isn't too big. The steak & haggis pie was full of tasty tender steak and the fish in the Pond to Plate pie was also plentiful, but more importantly it was cooked to perfection (soft, moist and very tasty ... definitely not overcooked like a lot of places tend to do). The food and the ambience at Badger & Co are great and it feels like stepping into a book, which we loved. Service was a bit slow but the restaurant was quite busy and everyone was really nice!

Unique whimsical atmosphere, great food & drinks & welcoming staff. It's right next to a TGI Fridays, but if you can make the choice to spend a little more money and time you should definitely go to Badger & Co, it'll be worth it!

We had great lunch at Badger & Co yesterday. We ate the chicken mushroom pie and the sunday roast. Both dishes tasted delicious. The cool ambiente made us feel cozy. We recommend a lunch stop here for every hungry traveler.
