Very disappointing afternoon coffee and scone. All the produce tasted like cheap supermarket brands with the coffee weak and tasteless. At £8 for a scone and coffee they could really do better. The ladies were very pleasant but their constant rushing around spoils the quaint tea shop experience.

I visited here with my wife and 2 of my grown up children. We had 4 Bagels and they were all excellent! The Ruben and the Salt Beef were especially good. The place is small and you may have to queue but it's worth it. Great coffee and Doughnuts too!

Appalling service at 3.00pm today. All chairs stacked up inside. Very rude arrogant man took the chair from under me in the outside canopy area. All I wanted was two hot drinks at 3.00pm but turned away. I wanted to sit outside under the canopy. The opening hours are advertised as open till 3.30pm???

Well hidden down a back street but a loevely friendly welcome and a nice lunch. If you like eclectic styles with knick-knacks from through the years and vintage pre war music playing then this is a great little tea shop. I had the soup of the day (lentil & vegetable) and a pot of Wylie's own blend tea. was lovely and a little like stepping back in time. Would return and reccomend.

I first discovered the Four Penny a couple of years ago, and this time chose to stay here and drive 30 minutes to my destination than book somewhere closer. It really is a hidden gem of a place. Its close to the racecourse, yet only a 10 minute walk from the castle. Its on a quiet residential street, and run by a friendly landlady and team of staff. The rooms are large, very clean and the whole place is well looked after. The pub downstairs is a free house with a large range of well-kept beers, and large selection of drinks. The food is good quality pub grub, with the sticky toffee pudding a personal favourite. There's no parking at the hotel, but they have a deal for free parking with the racecourse which is about 100m away, so no hardship. What else? Free wifi, complimetary toiletries, tea, coffee & water. Just a great place to stay.
