arrived here looking to order a pizza, 3 guys behind the counter just chatting amongst themselves, completely ignoring me for 10 mins and then finally took my order, said it would be a certain time, it took even longer and when it did arrive it was very average, do yourself a favour and go the Square and Compass for Pizza, they are much better and the staff are nice.

Breakfast buffet - couldn't fault it Lunchtime Bar food - Greast quality and huge large and filling portions. Large whitebait meal could feed an army. Evening Restaurant - Service and wines very good but food simply not great. I'd eat elsewhere if I had a choice again

I visited The Square & Compass yesterday with a friend and his dog, Bertie the Schnauzer. It’s a beautiful setting, and the pub itself looked warm and inviting, especially with a roaring fire going. We ordered our pints and settled in by the fire. Just as I sat down, my phone rang. Unfortunately, a particularly unpleasant local took great exception to this. I stepped outside to take the call, but when I returned, he was still ranting. Frankly, he was a downright obnoxious person. The whole experience was soured, and with locals like that, who needs the hassle? — G.B.

Visited the bakery to get something for lunch while visiting Corfe Castle. So much to choose from including hot sausage rolls, pie's and pasties. Cakes all looked delicious and very reasonably priced. We bought a Pork Pie, 2 huge Cheese Straws, a Vienesse Finger, Cinnamon bun and an Eccles Cake and cost a shy over £7.....very good price. We thoroughly enjoyed everything....the pastry on the pork pie was crispy and very tasty. I wish I lived in Dorset near this bakery as I could visit regularly. Fabulous little village bakery with amazing home made goods.

We had coffee here at the start of our visit and called in on the way back to the car for another coffee as it was so good. Also, the young man serving was so friendly and refused to get flustered when he was the only person serving and there was a a big queue.

We sat outside so placed our lunch order at the bar and paid for it in advance (also added a tip which was a mistake). The waiter wasn’t particularly friendly. I asked for the kids meals to be served first and ordered starters and mains. Everything came together which was unexpected and the waitress made it sound like it was our fault, because we sat outside. She gave no apology and even asked if we wanted cutlery with our food… the attitude was terrible! Scallops starter was great but everything else was average included the catch of the day (overdone) which was served with a sauce that looked like vomit; the mussels were tiny and the sauce had absolutely nothing special. The only positive we found was the location and outside views. Another seaside restaurant which doesn’t care about customer satisfaction because you are unlikely to come back in a hurry… shame that they ruin a nice family meal which ended up costing £125!

One of our favourite chill out spots on the front at Swanage, lovely for watching the world go by. Keep up the good work Chris and team!

Cuando visite Dorset siempre nos gusta llevar nuestro perro a pasear en Upton Park y es agradable para terminar nuestro paseo con un café y un aperitivo fuera del té. Muy agradable.
