The Cornish Bakery in Purbeck

I’m a regular here at the Cornish bakery. It’s one of the best coffee places in town. The staff are so polite and kind. If you need anything they are there to help.

Really tasty coffee and an amazing bacon and cheese croissant. The coffee here is nice and strong. Staff were lovely as well!

Me and my partner went to the Bakery for a traditional Cornish pasty lunch. Upon arrival we was greeted by a very lovely young lady called Beki who was very respectful, professional and competent when we asked about the different pasties and sweet treats on offer. When we ordered drinks we ordered a milkshake and white hot chocolate, Beki asked if we had any allergies or intolerances which not every establishment asks so this impressed us highly yet again making us feel well looked after and valued customers. Beki really made our visit to the bakery a calm, relaxed and happy one. We was made to feel at ease when making our decision, Beki didn't rush us through our order. I would highly recommend the bakery, no just for the food but the highly competent, friendly staff. We will defiantly visit again (frequently)

We loved this bakery and visited a couple of times throughout our holiday to Dorset. The food was great and the service was friendly. For reference, between us we tried the sausage rolls, chicken masala pasty, normal croissant and pistachio croissant. All of these were amazing, and I’m sure anything you pick would be equal as good.

After a blustery cold walk along the promenade we popped into this lovely little place to warm up! We had the BEST sausage rolls, hot & straight from the oven with teas/coffees in a warm & friendly atmosphere! Highly recommend (esp sausage rolls!).

I walked into the Cornish Bakery in Swanage and was instantly greeted by sensuous smells of the morning baking. The staff were really friendly, approachable and very helpful. The breakfast tea that I ordered was a really good taste and I have drunk tea from all over the world. So what did I have to eat.. well with the help of Nichola, I had the Cornish Pudding, which was a delight from the visual in the shop window to on my plate. What a treat for my taste buds as I enjoyed this bread pudding made with several yummy ingredients from other products within the shop. This is a must try....and with a tea that warmed me up and a lovely environment to sit in, it brightened up my morning.

The staff are lovely and their almond and cherry croissant is the best ever! We have one every Sunday and share it for our treat.

I went to the Cornish like I normally would for a decent coffee and a pasty and the girls are always so welcoming,so it makes for a lovely atmosphere however on my last visit I was hugely disappointed by the service as when I asked the man behind the counter (will I think his name was) if I could pay with cash, as I had forgotten my card at home I was told with great anger and a raised voice that this is not accepted at this cafe and that there’s a sign to state so, I was set back by this and it really did ruin my day, I sadly won’t be returning back to this lovely cafe just as I worry about the service I may receive.

Enjoyed a coffee and a delicious vegetarian Croissant sitting in a sunny window seat it was heaven .Will always call in when we are in town.

I had one of the best coffees in ages here. Really lovely staff who despite being busy, found time to chat and make me feel welcome. I ended up sitting in a window seat, watching the world go by.. The smell of freshly baked pasties was far too tempting so I took one with me on my dog walk - perfect! I'll be back and recommend this lovely spot to friends.

The man who served my delicious coffee Monday morning was really friendly and cheerful. Lovely pastries also. Inside looks dilapidated (no fault of the staff) and definitely needs a spruce up to match the outside. Hopefully this will come soon. Coffee and Pastries 100% outweighs the ambiance.

I have just bought 2 traditional Cornish pasties & there was only 3 small pieces of meat in each one! And they were over seasoned with white pepper. Very disappointed

Came in for a coffee and had a snack as well last Sunday morning on a wet day and was very pleased with the snack and coffee i had and the place was lovely and clean

Dirty trays and festering plates with fly's hovering over head even in winter! Tables covered with crumbs and spilt liquid. Customers have to clear other peoples mess whilst staff remain behind the counter eating during their shift. When they do clear the tables they still neglect to wipe them properly. Perhaps they wanted to save money on cleaning materials as the bottle of spray was full and probably covered in dust from not being used.

This is my favourite bakery in swanage. I will always choose to come here over any other place. Although we don’t sit inside very often, staff have been extremely polite and patient every visit we’ve been! The food is great aswell and although they don’t take cash the end-of-day price deductions are always such good value! The Cornish bakery never disappoints! It’s nice to be able to bring my dog inside too.

What a lovely find! This bakery offers such delicious pastries that you can taste is freshly baked. I met up with a friend for our weekly coffee. Coffee was lovely and so nice to be offered oat milk at no extra cost. We were served by some very friendly staff. Nicola who served us was very warm and friendly and William who made us our tasty coffee was very knowledgeable when I was unsure on what to have. A lovely atmosphere. Will definitely make this a regular thing! Very happy

This place cooks a variety of pasties on site - in fact you can see the pasties being cooked at the end of the counter. I was lucky as I wanted a traditional one and some had just come out of the oven. They do take away or sit in - waiting for a coffee was a delay - they could have bought it to my table. The place is spoilt by some customers pretending their tables are full. There was a table for 6 only occupied by 4 people and a table for 4 only occupied by 2 people. So I sat down at a table for 3 which had one spare place. the other two were just checking their phones and left which was good as a friend joined me. A very busy and popular place.

Amazing coffee and pastries. I had the Cornish Pudding and a Lemon/Blueberry Danish. Both were excellent as usual. Slight wait on coffee as the place was packed but I didn’t mind. Simple system where you wait down the end to collect your food and drink, makes it easier on the staff that way. Would 100% recommend.

Recent turnaround off staff, but same great atmosphere. Having left this store as an employee 2 years ago I have continued to return for the same great barista coffee and optional alternative milk. There is always a great atmosphere in the store which I believe is testament to the management and the way they have been able to pick up where others left off and drive it forward especially in peak seasons. New products are always welcomed and keeps it fresh and innovative. Will continue to come back as I genuinely believe it’s the best coffee in town, and best of all they welcome dogs! The pasties were big and tasty, although there's not much else to buy in this bakery so you can't make a proper meal out of them.

The croissants are amazing, had a fruit scone which was lovely, the egg custard tart was as good as ever too. Freshly made coffee was really good. Staff are very friendly, it’s a hidden gem in Swanage.

We had coffee and pastries downstairs where there is plenty of space and seating. The coffee is a decent strength and nice and hot, would recommend the Cornish pudding and the cherry and almond croissants! Service was friendly and efficient.

Visited the Swanage shop today and although it was packed, the service was excellent from friendly staff. Their ice latte is the best one around, and is consistently good.

Came for a take out coffee, Wednesday 9th. Staff were rushed off their feet but still found time for a warm welcome from the young man in charge.

We went to this shop and bought a pain au Chocolat a bacon cheese wrap and a pain au raisin. Food was bought to us by some lovely staff and quickly. Food quality was perfecto. Batman would rate it a 5 out of 5
