The Quayside Barn Cafe in Purbeck

It’s a Shame as it’s such a good location but a complete and utter rip off and so overpriced for mediocre quality products. A MrWhippy ice cream should NOT cost £7.60!!!! Scandalous! They should be ashamed!

Coffee made with soya milk, but extremely weak

I hven't had a proper ice cream since I've been vegan! This was amazing and so many dairy free flavours!

Great spot to sit and enjoy the view of the river and the hills whilst eating the best Dorset apple cake ever ! IMO Friendly service & reasonable prices.

Wife popped in on a sunny Sunday and bought a sandwich,crisps and a cake to eat while sat on the Quay while walking our dog. On opening the sandwich and taking a bite realised the bread was really stale. The crusts were hard and the cheese and pickle filling not nice at all. The sell by date on the packet had no date on it. I would guess it was made a few days ago at least. Was going to just chuck it away until I went to eat the chelsea bun. It was really hard but it had a sell by date from 2 days ago. Decided to return both for a refund which the shop gladly gave. It’s only a small easy thing to do but they really should check the sell by dates on their sandwiches etc before selling them.

Better coffee and friendlier welcome in other cafes in Wareham. But position in the Quay very nice. Probably the best apart from the Granary.

Took 12 minutes for 2 coffee to arrive. When they did, they were cold. Server had worked there 2 months but did not know about coffee syrups. Windy day, no facility to stop sugar packets and biscuit wrappers flying all over the wharf

Have been coming to the quayside barn for quite a few years ,purely for the milkshakes and icecream .Called in today for the same ,very disapointed to say the least , milkshake very average ,the plastic cups have halved in size and miserable staff .

Always stopped here for the milkshakes and ice cream ,used to get a large shake with cream and choc sprinkles ,,not anymore , very small shake ,no whippy icecream added and a minute amount of cream , the miserable lady serving was smiless ,the saving grace was the ever delicious marshfield farm icecream ,which i might add is bought in ,very very poor .

Wareham is a nice place to visit and walk around or have a sit down by the river bank. It gets quite busy on market day. The Blackcurrant ice cream is probably my favourite one here.

While visiting the historic town Wareham me and my Wife stumbled across the quayside barn. Our entry upon the cafe was very welcoming with polite staff and a cosy interior making ourselves feel at home. We decided to order some coffee and my Wife treated herself to a slice of some biscoff cake. Overall everything was very refreshing and came down to a good price. Cant recommend highly enough!

I came to the quayside barn for a coffee and an ice cream with some friends the other day. The coffee was perfect and they had so many different flavours of ice cream to choose from, they also had panini’s, cakes and waffles. The staff were lovely and welcoming, making the experience 10/10. I would 100% recommend if you are in the area.

If you want good coffee then this is the place to go. Not only icecreams but they sell lots of other amazing cakes, paninis, sausage rolls and more. We had a waffle and it was amazing.

Warm and friendly service, nice coffee and excellent cake and some of the best ice-cream in the area, the facilities are very well kept and clean... So all in all 5 stars from me.

Popped in here today (18/5/2022) purely for an ice cream. They have all the fancy delicious scoop ice creams. A large choice available. But we wanted the old fashioned mr softy. And they sold it as well as the scoop ice cream. Lush lush lush. Excellent quality. Rich/thick and sooo creamy. Proper my softy vanilla ice cream. I had a large tub. Hubby had a crispy cone. Two lovely ladies working/serving. We live in Weymouth now. But when next on a jolly we will definitely pop into the quayside barn cafe for the best ice cream in Wareham. Regards Tanya

A hot afternoon and after. a walk by the river the cafe across the bridge looked tempting. We ventured over and ordered a tea, a coffee and snacks. The coffee was pretty awful and the tea served in a polystyrene cup with the teabag split and tea leaves floating around. The tables outside were in need of cleaning, and the service was at best lethargic. Overall I would give this a miss

I often drop by when passing for either a Banana milkshake or a whippy ice cream both of which are very yummy.

We visited the Quayside cafe for a coffee which we really enjoyed as it was nice and strong . The staff were very pleasant and professional I have also had a fantastic ice cream from there too which I highly recommend. The views are amazing and depending when you go there is always lots of activity and plenty to see on the quay. Would recommend a visit if in or passing through Wareham. Steve &Suzanne

WATCH OUT! My husband is suffering food poisoning after visiting and eating a sausage roll from here. He bought another to take home ad the sell by date is 29th April!!!! Staff need to check the dates of food before serving!!!!!!

Ordered ice cream even 2 dog ones paid after waiting in a queue for 15 minutes. They had no dog ones left and only gave us 1 adult one when asked for 2.

Ice-cream good but small for the price charged and staff not openly rude but very offhand

We always stop here if there is a table free outside as it’s situated on Wareham Quay. Fantastic for people watching! Great ham and cheese paninis, and iced coffee with cream on the top. Nice friendly staff as well.

Bought a Blackcurrant Clotted Cream ice cream cone here which was large, delicious, and good value for money. I would visit here again to get an ice cream. They do coffee etc as well.

Nice selection of coffees and Ice creams. Bench seats outside with parasols incase the sun...yes sun! gets too hot. The regular latte was tiny but super smooth...so go large.

As a local family we absolutely love this little cafe. The kids (and adults) love the ice cream and milkshakes. Definitely the best place around for a treat and such a great location. Highly recommended.

It was lovely to stop and sit outside and have some lunch. Friendly and good service.

Ignorant staff & no stated pricing (sandwiches etc) only use if everything else is fully booked (and even then reconsider). A shame as the town, area and locals are excellent.

Good coffee, Covid compliant, friendly staff, fairly priced, good location. Duck food and Doggy Ice Cream available. One minor criticism is that there was insufficient sweets, chocolates and other goodies to go with our drinks.

Four of us enjoyed drinks and ate. The shared platter of starters was great...value and quality, very tasty and loads of it.

We enjoyed lovely ice-cream, but couldn't raise a smile or even a polite greeting from the ladies behind the counter.

We quite often visit Wareham especially to go here. Delicious ice-creams and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Stopped here today for takeaway coffee and lunch, it was all very GOOD. Super coffee and delicious panini, welcoming, cheerful and efficient staff, social distancing properly in place. Well done.

Easily the best coffee I have had in Wareham, which is why I am a regular customer. The best waitress is my buddy Charlene who always takes the time for a quick chat - well at least when she isnt snowed under!

I have been here twice in the summer for an ice cream with the children, two different girls served me and both times they used an ice cream scoop and then held it in the scoop each time with their thumb. I thought extremely poor hygiene awareness and surely it must be a one off so didn’t want to make a scene so said nothing. I have been back today to meet friends and their children against my better judgement, today it was Mr Whippy and the lady cut the flow of ice cream off with her finger. Will never go back again, I can’t believe three members of staff think that is acceptable !!!

A pleasant visit for an ice cream after enjoying a motor boat ride down the river. Very enjoyable.

We popped into the Quayside Barn earlier today for an ice cream for the kiddies and a nice coffee for the grown ups. Staff were very friendly and prices reasonable. On a sunny day it's lovely to sit outside and watch the boats on the river.

Nice setting on the riverside with handy car park and easy access to Wareham. Outdoor seating for nice days like today. Excellent ice cream and a superb example of Rum n Raisin. It was worth the drive just for that.

Had a coffee, no different to any other. Seems very popular for its ice creams. Staff friendly.

Visited twice, on the first occasion we had ice creams which were delicious, on the second occasion we were on our way to Monkey World and stopped for drinks. Very good coffee at a reasonable price in a nice location by the river.

Popped in for coffee with a friend, ordered and asked specifically for some iced tap water and wasn't impressed that they suggested the bottled water in fridge, didn't seem happy to provide what I asked for, then noticed they had to go to pub next (owned by the same ) door for the ice. Would have been much more pleasant if it was done without a hesitation. Coffee was good, but a bit sad about the attitude

Staff very friendly, Food was excellent, location on a Quayside in a square of different establishments.They were also dog friendly.

Sited on the busy quayside of Wareham is this coffee shop and ice cream parlour. Very central sites, you can watch the market, sit inside or outside. Great coffee, excellent service. Disappointed by the toasted tea cake which wasn't hot enough.
