Dragons Village Bakery in Purbeck

Visited the bakery to get something for lunch while visiting Corfe Castle. So much to choose from including hot sausage rolls, pie's and pasties. Cakes all looked delicious and very reasonably priced. We bought a Pork Pie, 2 huge Cheese Straws, a Vienesse Finger, Cinnamon bun and an Eccles Cake and cost a shy over £7.....very good price. We thoroughly enjoyed everything....the pastry on the pork pie was crispy and very tasty. I wish I lived in Dorset near this bakery as I could visit regularly. Fabulous little village bakery with amazing home made goods.

The highlight for me was the ingredient information readily available on each item in plain sight. Rare to find and extremely helpful to someone like myself with a severe nut allergy. More bakeries should lead by their example. Really nice staff and delicious baked goods from cakes to pastries and sandwiches - will be coming back!

This bakery is amazing! We went back most mornings of our holiday to get bread for breakfast! We highly recommend the crusty rolls, but anything you go for is guaranteed to be great. Over the course of the week we tried the crusty rolls, cottage rolls, bacon/sausage baps, sausage rolls, cinnamon danish, milk choc chip cookie, croissants, etc. Everything was exceptional. (Just be warned that it’s so popular that parking near it is a bit trickier!)

Magnificent. We had walked to Corfe from Swanage and wanted a bite to eat. I could not believe we could find such quality in a tourist village. I had a prawn mayo bap for a mere £2.90.It sounds nothing but it was great. Nice bread, generous tasty filling. In Bournemouth I would have paid twice as much and it wouldn't have been half as good. My wife had a cake. She swore it was the best cake she had had in years. We liked it so much we plan to walk from Swanage to Corfe again next week, and then back again, just so we can go to this bakery again. Oh! And the staff was charming.

A lovely little bakery. Absolutely marvellous pies and pastries. Dropped in to pick up snacks after walking round the castle. The pasties and the spinach and feta slice were lovely and a reasonable price.

Grabbed a quick pasty straight from the oven, and it was absolutely delicious. The pastry flaked, and it was just the right size. Only observation is that it was called a Cornish Pasty but had minced beef rather than cubed. Beware Trelawneys army fining out and laying siege to the shop! Doesn’t stop them being great though.

Bought a (very!) large brown seeded loaf yesterday. It is absolutely delicious. I froze half, and if that turns out the same I will try and make room in our freezer for a bulk purchase.

We only bought cakes but shout out to the Vienese Fingers and the Bread Pudding. Hot selection smelt and looked lovely too, ideal if you don't want to pay Cafe prices.

Bought a gluten-free loaf here to take home. Absolutely delicious - nearly finished it all already despite slicing and freezing it immediately - best I’ve found!

Probably one of the best bakers we have been too. Bread is so fresh. Sandwiches are amazing and all great value.

Went to see the castle and the model village, saw the bakery and the queue, got pork pies, pasties, sausage rolls and sandwiches,all very tasty, and very very good value, the young lady who served me was a delight, and very patient.

Staying self-catering this bakery helped ensure a brilliant holiday. Bread and cakes excellent, and the breakfast baps a real treat.

Fantastic pasties, wide selection of food available. Make sure you buy some of the corfe biscuits! Delicious!

This is genuinely one of the best places to buy a pasty I have ever been too. The pasties are hot, crispy pastry and the filling is fruitful. So lucky to have such a great bakers in Corfe Castle.

OMG This place is located in the picturesque Village of Corfe Castle But I’m not reviewing the bakery on its amazing location or How pretty it looks No I’m Reviewing this place on how AMAZING the food they cook here.. I ordered 1 Large pastie,1 Cheese slice,1 Steak Slice & I can tell you now I can’t pick a favourite out of the 3- The pastie had so much meat/Potatoe- Steak Slice had an amazing gravy covered in steak & The cheese slice was So Tasty.. I Remembered this places food was good but this time it was Exceptional & a must visit if your visiting Corfe Castle.. They stock all the Favs a bakery does & even serves Tea/Coffee to Takeaway Still got the taste of that Large pastie whilst writing this haha 100% Recommend.

I happen to enjoy a pork pie and these are the best. Crumbly, buttery shortcrust outer and an accompanying amount of beautifully seasoned sausage meat. It is also pleasing to find that they do not have the not so nice jelly/gravy which some pork pies might contain. It is also worth noting that the size of the pork pies are perfect for lunch or just as a snack. They are also not over priced. Result.

Bought a loaf whilst passing through the village, returned on our way home some days later and bought 3 more loaves as the bread was fantastic. Sadly we were only in Dorset on holiday and normally live miles away or we’d shop here every day. Lovely friendly staff too.

My Wife and I live in Dorset and we visit the Bakery for our lunch every time we pass through Corfe Castle, the choice of hot and cold snacks plus cakes is superb and considering the popular location, very reasonably priced, no wonder it is so popular. Open 7 days a week throughout the year, I believe only closing on Christmas Day. There is nearly always a queue so be patient especially during the Summer and other times when the weather good. The staff are brilliant, clean, smart and have to work very hard to cope with demand from visitors that decend from all parts of the uk

This never fails to please. Pasties, lardy cake, sausage rolls, sandwiches. Staff efficient and polite. I use this place a lot and they get some pretty grim customers but their patience with the North London whingers is exemplary.

Good service and everything we bought was excellent. Can get a bit crowded as shop is small. Parking is available around the square.

Full and half size loaves are available. They had a good assortment of sweet baked products while we were there. Their beef and chicken-leek pasties were divine.

Terrible discrimination in this shop. Got shouted at for not obeying made up rule with no legal standing at that particular time. However it is against the law to implement disability discrimination. Disgusting treatment.

Do not expect a warm welcome by friendly staff at Corfe Castle bakery, expect the exact opposite. The food isn't worth the agro either. Do yourself a favour and find somewhere that wants your custom.

Very rude and overbearing bossy staff. Heard one lady being shouted quite abruptly and asked to stand outside. I didn’t like hearing this and so decided to not offer my custom. Avoid there are many more welcoming alternatives.

Great Value Bakery to pick up filled rolls, sandwiches and cakes for a packed lunch. Prices were really good and felt very good value for money compared to other places in the area. Freshly baked bread was lovely too.

The bakery is known as "Corfe Castle Village Bakery." I don't where the "Dragon" part came from. We ate a few warm donuts and bought a few delicious pastries for our onward journey. It is especially famous for Dorset apple cake.

A full range of what you'd expect from a local bakers. We went for the multi-grain loaf which was excellent.

Feels as if you have walked through a door to France. A great shop with outstanding cakes, bread, etc. The display is great and the lardy cake a must. Prices were fair. It's a busy place and your wise to stand back and take time to choose your order. Just off the town square and great to put together a picnic to eat on the steam railway.

Stopped by here for a snack & wanted lardy cake, but this was not as I knew it, it was huge and I ate it in 2 halves, there & on my journey home, but lovely!

I bought food from the Bakers during the day to eat in the evening as I was staying in a B& B locally and needed an evening meal. The selection of filled rolls, pies, pastries, bread and cakes was amazing, and so fresh, together with cold drinks etc. It was very popular.

Visited Corfe to see the steam trains and then have a walk around. Bought a chicken and chorizo pasty. Are it overlooking Corfe Castle. Very good food and excellent value

As we were leaving Corfe Castle for our next destination we needed sandwiches and bread, both of which we purchased. The sandwiches were delicious, as was the loaf of bread eaten later. Highly recommended!

Served by friendly staff with nice products at reasonable prices. The chicken and chorizo pasty was very tasty filled with the right amount of chicken, chorizo and potato and nice and spicy. My wife would recommend the chicken and mushroom slice.

Friendly staff and nice rolls. A lot less hassle than making and carrying a picnic. A wide choice for all tastes. Will probably try to pop back before we leave for a few more scones.

Whilst we were walking all around the village we saw the Dragons Village Bakery ! There were loads of hot pies, pasties etc. and we purchased 2 which were very tasty and very hot !!!! If you want a great pastry then try the pasties !!! Highly recommended !!

Called in for some take out food. Excellent choice of rolls, baps, baguettes, on white or malted. Reasonably priced and very fresh. Sausage rolls were excellent, if a little over priced. Overall would recommend this establishment.

We climbed up the trail to the castle and although we were meeting friends for lunch we felt we deserved a snack. Popped into this bakery and for 2 pounds got an excellent Cornish pasty (not pastry). It was filled with vegetables and fresh and delicious. Good plan!

Decided to stop in here for supplies for a picnic lunch on Studland beach. Bought a selection of cornish pasties(yum) pork pies(yum yum) and other bakes and a couple of filled rolls with cakes too. All fresh and reasonably priced.

Just around the corner from Corfe Caste. There was a queue forming at lunch hour. Its an old fashion local bakery and we like to support the local businesses. Bought sandwiches and a loaf of seeded bread. Almost forgotten the taste of real freshly baked bread. Definitely not what you get in supermarkets. Really amazing selection of bread, sandwiches, pastry and pasties. And at reasonable prices.

Upon leaving Corfe Castle we were a little peckish and popped into the bakery.

Cannot fault the quality of food served however the staff members who served us twice during our weeks stay (we went into Wareham because of this) were surly and rude making us feel very uncomfortable

Popped in for a snack. My wife has a cheese straw which was excellent. I chose a pork pie. Wow, it was still slightly warm. The pastry was out of this world. Still had a crunch but proper pastry. The pie filling was perfect. Of all the pork pies ever eaten this was the best ever by a mile. Also lovely polite friendly service. Lovely shop. Thank you.

This is an old fashioned Bakery which sells delicious homemade cakes, bread etc. We enjoyed one of their Dorset Apple Cakes and Pasties, we will be back for more!

Stopped in here a few times during my week in Corfe Castle just to get the fresh bread! Lots of other treats available as well, right in town center.

My family (myself, my husband and my son) stopped off at the bakery for some lunch. Husband and son were satisfied with their choices but I chose a tuna mayonnaise roll. WELL! where was the tuna???? There was so much mayonnaise that the contents of the roll literally fell out onto my lap!!! Please don't "water down the tuna" otherwise we will look for our lunch elsewhere!!!!

This bakery has been in Corfe for as long as I remember & is perfect for those last minute snacks before or after your walk.

We had visited the castle and came across this bakery by chance and we were glad that we did. Stunning cakes and not too expensive...I wish I had bought a second Belgian bun...it was one of the best I have ever eaten!

We had lunch on the bench outside the bakery as the pub was packed, food was piping hot and excellent. the lovely ladies in the bakery were happy and very chatty. Well done!!!!
