Lovely cosy restaurant with a nice choice of fish and shellfish on the menu. Service was good and nice atmosphere. The food was served at the right speed - not rushed and not too long to wait either. Very crispy cod and chips and pan fried hake was on the menu and was very tasty.

Birthday dinner here was lovely. Food was great (I recommend the prawns!) but hospitality by Clare & team was excellent. Every detail attended to & stuffiness no where in sight. Menu choices excellent, allergies/intolerances carefully noted. Good hearty portions & flavours were yummy. We’ll definitely be back!

We booked The Lulworth Lodge with high expectations of some lovely fish for the final evening of our holiday. We certainly weren't disappointed. All courses were flavourful and delicious. Clare literally bent over backwards for us all evening. She was funny, engaging, welcoming, and extremely friendly. Quite rarely does an individual team member stand out for all of the right reasons, and Clare certainly did that. She made our evening. Reasonable priced. Well spaced tables for a small venue. Lovely setting. We would definitely return.

With a pre booked, early table I was sat in a corner facing the wall. Given an empty restaurant I asked if I could be moved to a window seat with a view but was told they were all taken. These particular seats were rickety, uncomfortable and worst of all sloping downwards. I did notice the rest of the restaurant’s chairs were not the same and liked very comfortable. Food was average for the hype and slightly inflated price as was the service. I left to an empty restaurant with neither of the couple of tables i requested having been filled. I must admit I wasn’t adventurous with the menu choices and cannot comment on the seafood.

Whilst visiting Lulworth Cove we decided to have some lunch and came across Lulworth Lodge. We were welcomed in and showed to a table. My friend and I opted for the crab sandwich whilst my husband had the halumi and my friend’s husband a burger. The food arrived promptly and we were looked after very well by our waitress Flossie. A lovely young lady who made our dining experience a whole lot more pleasant. There is a gluggle jug of water on each table and you can actually buy the gluggle jugs to take home. The food was beautiful and I can thoroughly recommend a visit.

We had high expectations as this was number 2 in Lulworth, but we were bitterly disappointed by the food. The starter was tasty, a goats cheese salad, but the mains were expensive and crap. The steak was undercooked, the sauce was bland, and the chips had no salt. The seafood linguine we asked with only prawns and it was also bland, plus you had to peel all of the prawns so it was a while before we could even enjoy it!

Four of us (two couples) were staying in West Lulworth for a week in May and had booked three restaurants during our stay, the first being the Lulworth Lodge on the Saturday night and it was superb, everything about it was great. Three of us had starters, two scallops and one Dorset crab (me) and it was so good, they all were. Then for mains, I had the rib-eye steak with chimmi churri and it was just delicious, others had the sea bream, cod and chips and the daily special of sea bass and all were fantastic. We then had a bizarre experience as there was an almighty storm and the road outside flooded, so we were trapped in the restaurant, for over an hour, there are definitely worse places to be trapped. We had to have another drink or two, with the waitress knocking me up a cocktail that wasn't on their menu, and that was great too. The front of house was run by three young girls, late teens/early 20s I'd guess, and each of them was excellent and the service was absolutely spot on, throughout, attentive, accurate and polite. Not that it shouldn't be but I thought it was quite unusual that there wasn't someone older there, so am just commenting to offer praise. It's not cheap but definitely not a rip off, I'm a firm believe in (generally) you get what you pay for and we certainly did. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, in fact I'd love to go back.

Popped in on the off chance that we might find a light lunch for us in a wet and chilly day. My wife is celiac and so can only have gluten free stuff; I have dangerously high cholesterol levels so follow a vegan diet. We are the customers from hell. it's realy difficult for us to find something suitable. We both went for the soup (parsnip and celeriac). Best soup I have ever tasted. Service was great, prices reasonable. Excellent.

We were staying in the next door hotel, which, unfortunately, only served pizza .. so while speaking to workers on the boats, they recommended to eat here , and boy did it deliver.. Great warm welcome from man, very polite and attentive. We ordered and shared our starter and sweet . Scallops , so meaty and tasty , cheese board for afters , so good and both presented beautifully. Main course my partner had the burger , wow , what a tasty burger this was, myself the seafood lingene, tasty with mussels, king prawns and crayfish . Mussel Bay wine was fresh and well recommended, too. As we had received great food and service , we booked for 2 days later to celebrate my birthday. We have always said that we wanted to share a lobster, so this was pre ordered, and never failed in what we were looking for ( never had before ). Again a great welcome from our Australian waiter (Dan if I'm correct ) who unfortunately was moving home the next day,he will be a big loss as he was exceptional . We also had a lovely young lady serve us , who too was attentive and polite .I would totally recommend this place for the food, drink and service . Thank you for the special birthday board , very much appreciated.

We visited this place for lunch during high season. It being close to the sea I ordered mackerel. Something I only ever sample when I am close to the see. Unfortunately my two mackerel would barely qualify as sardines. I appreciate our seas are depleted these days but if you can’t get adequate produce then don’t have it on the menu. Very unsatisfying. I expended more energy finding the meat on the mackerel than I got from consuming it.

Stopped here for lunch after paddle boarding at Lulworth Cove. Was really looking forward to some nice food before heading on the long journey back home. Unfortunately lunch was just okay. My partner had the crab sandwich which she said was nice, but my halloumi burger was a bit of a let down. The portion was huge - served in two Gf burger buns, which was too much bread for me. It was a bit off putting. The halloumi in the burger was really tough and chewy. I love halloumi - but I think this was way over cooked. It was also served in the bun with chilli jam and cucumber - which just wasn’t to my taste. Love chilli jam, but the cucumber had done all squish and it wasn’t nice. I picked that out. Fries were good but did came out a bit cold. All in all just okay.

Stopped in for lunch after a walk around the bay - wonderful place. Very happy we did - though at first a little nervous as the prices seemed a bit topsy we settled for an inside table due to the wind - ordering at the bar we had good IPA and ordered moles mariniere & frites, Berr battered Cod & Chips. Both dishes were excellent with the mussels being the freshest I have tasted since being introduced to the dish in Brussels decades ago. Staff friendly and obliging - an altogether terrific lunch.

The staff were very understanding and accommodating, really good people, but in the end I had to bring him home. The staff were so kind and packed up my dinner for me. I just got home and ate my dinner - which is also amazing! Very healthy, fish cooked to perfection, and so tasty. I would fully recommend this place. We returned this year for dinner after having a lovely experience last year. We ordered a starter and main, the starter we both chose as the ‘New Forest Rosary Goats cheese’. This was advertised as being served with walnuts, apple and a honey dressing at a cost of £9. When it arrived it was simply a bowl full of lettuce leaves with a sprinkle of goats cheese and 5 slices of apple. We were both hugely disappointed as this was definitely not as advertised. We expressed our disappointment and returned the dishes. We explained that the description was misleading and that our expectation was of majority goats cheese with walnut apple and the dressing not 80% lettuce which was in fact not even mentioned. We had a nice main course, although our experience was now dampened but the height of our surprise was when the bill was presented with both starters still being charged for. We questioned this and the lady said she felt they shouldn’t be removed just because we didn’t like them! She completely missed the point and in the end reluctantly agreed to remove one. We paid to avoid further embarrassment (for them as an establishment) and left quietly, without tipping them and vowing never to return again. The moral of the story here is ‘should a bowl of lettuce comprise reputation and the retention of customers??’

Ate at the Bistro last Thursday upon arrival to Lulworth Cove.Place is nicely decorated.I ordered the mussels and my friend ordered the steak sandwich. The mussels looked lovely but my first one made a crunching noise. The second and third more crunching. It was then obvious that the chef hadn't washed them properly. To me this is the number one thing you do with mussels.Afraid it spoilt things so I sent them back and replaced with fish finger sandwich which was ok.Staff were nice and friendly though but by this point lunch was ruined as friend had pretty much finished her food by the time mine came back.

We ate at the Lulworth Lodge one evening whilst staying just up the road. Firstly it is quite a seafood based menu so if you're vegetarian like me then the choice isn't very extensive. I had a margarita pizza which was pretty much burnt but due to having a 6am start that day and just wanting to eat and get to bed I wasn't fussed enough to send it back. Service was good and it's dog friendly which is great. Perhaps just wasn't the right choice for us!

we were in need of refreshment after our long walk over the hills to Lulworth Cove and from the headland I spotted the gardens of Lulworth Lodge and made a beeline in that direction.Warmly greeted by the friendly and super helpful staff, hands sanitized and checked in we were given menus, cutlery and directed to the garden to pick a table in the October sunshine.I was happy to see cocktails on the menu and being on holiday thought it would be rude not to sample some and we were soon served and perusing the menu.I must say we should have looked at the portion sizes as we both ordered the fish finger sandwiches, my husband had haloumi fries to accompany and I the Greek salad as we were pretty hungry but there certainly wasn't any room for dessert and we ended up waddling up the hill after! The fish finger sandwiches were exceptional and tasted amazing, the salad was presented perfectly and so fresh. The halloumi fries were by far the best we have ever had, the coating was to die for and the flavour was just so tasty. I could have just had a plate of them and been satisfied! The staff really compliment this place and they work so hard and always with a happy demeanor. When it started to drizzle, they quickly made room inside whilst keeping covid safe and accommodating everyone with ease. We came for a cream tea and scones on Monday. We were one of the first in there and 30 minutes after taking our order we noticed many of the other tables with slower orders who also arrived after us receiving their food and drink, I asked the waitress if she knows how long it will be and she said she'll check and then avoided our table completely for the next 30mins. After an hour in total waiting for a simple order with no apologies for delays or updates that it was coming we gave up and left. The table next to us had the same problem, they ordered food and drink and only received the drink. When they asked about their order which had been an hour as their small children were very hungry the waitress was rude and responded it comes in order of arrival. No apologies or assurances it was on the way. Other people had arrived, ordered, eaten, paid and left in time both our tables were waiting! This restaurant was the one negative aspect of an otherwise wonderful trip, Rudds and Lulworth Inn on either side of this place have very friendly staff and made good food.

My wife and I had booked dinner here to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary whilst we were staying in Kimmeridge. When we arrived the social distancing was adequate apart from the position of the inside tables which definitely did not have 2m (or even 1m) distance between them. As a couple we were lucky to have a window seat which was apart. For dinner the menu was very disappointing although I do understand the pandemic must have had an impact. But I think there could have more choice than there was. My wife had mussels which she said was delicious and I had a rib eye steak which was okay. We did appreciate the free macaroons from the management. The cost of the two mains came to £37.90.We returned a couple days later when we were visiting Lulworth Cove and popped in for lunch. This time the lunch menu was much better and the outdoor space was well suited for social distancing although families were sitting right next to each other, shoulder to shoulder. my wife had a fish finger sandwich and I had a delicious crab sandwich washed down with a couple of beers and a soft drink. Total cost in this case was £37.95.The social distancing issue is a shame which is sad because it is clear that this restaurant has huge potential. We would probably return sometime in the future.

We did have a lovely evening eating at Lulworth Lodge, but I have to admit it wasn't quite as good as I had hoped it would be.I was quite disappointed with my starter, considering the price. The seabass and crab were good, and the dessert (chocolate torte) was definitely my favourite course. But I just didn't find the food to be particularly memorable compared to other places. Overall, I would give the food 4* but the price brings it down to 3*. I have definitely paid much less for nicer food. Having said that, the interior and setting are really lovely, and the staff were polite and helpful.

While the food was excellent when my partner and I visited Lulworth Lodge for lunch on a warm summer's day, the post-lockdown social distancing arrangements put in place were not. Having been to three other bars/restaurants since lockdown was eased, all of which had excellent measures to allow for social distancing, I was most disappointed at the lack of effort put in by Lulworth Lodge to ensure the safety of all customers. None of the staff were wearing masks or visors, and they made no attempt to keep back when taking orders/bringing food and drinks to the table; the tables were all very closely packed together, meaning that everyone had no choice but to come into close proximity with each other, due to having to walk close by tables in order to get to the toilets or in and out the main entrance; despite government guidelines that bars and restaurants should not play music, the music in the bistro was of a volume such that we had to raise our voices above a natural volume, thus increasing the possibility of spit particles being expectorated into the air; the one attempt at making the place more Covid-safe was a hand sanitiser by the door, but this was empty! While I appreciate that this is a difficult time for catering and hospitality establishments, I just felt very disappointed that such a nice, welcoming place as Lulworth Lodge had not done more to accommodate for the 'new normal.' Other places I have been to have completely moved the furniture around in order for there to be at least 2 metres between all tables, put all cutlery in sealed bags so that none of the waiting staff have to touch them, ensured all staff are wearing visors at all times, taken all condiments and extraneous items off tables to prevent contamination, etc. There seemed no evidence that any such precautions had been taken here, which unfortunately detracted from what would otherwise have been a pleasant meal.

Pedimos un entrante para compartir de cangrejo, la merluza que estaba increíble y mejor aún estaban los mejillones. Definitivamente es super recomendable, aunque un poco caro.

Beautiful location, fantastic hotel, the staff could not do enough for you. The food was amazing I have been lucky enough to eat in a number of Michelin star restaurants and I can honestly say the food is in the same league. Will definitely be recommending and returning.

The food here was excellent. My friend and I split a few dishes and wished we could have ordered more. The Halloumi salad was so delicious...I wish this place was closer to me, as I'd visit frequently. I highly recommend dining here if you're in the area. The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing, the selection was fitting for everyone and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend.

We visited Lulworth, thought we'd have s coffee before heading down to the bay. We ordered a cappuccino and an Americans. The cups both were served in were expresso sized...far too small, expensive and disappointing. Three sips and they were gone! Please give customers a decent sized beverage cup, not encouraging us to return or stop for lunch.

A great find. The lunch menu could be larger but that’s my only slight negative! Friendly and helpful staff and lovely food. Decided to try the place for lunch, (mainly as the pub up the road was packed out), a great find, and place that should be busier - but we were glad it wasn’t! Lol. Sat in the pleasant garden terrace. Both of us chose the very generous HAM HOCK & APRICOT TERRINE, and at £8.40 good value and shared an equally generous bit of Dorset Apple cake. Very nice cake but not the best I’ve had in Dorset, but I’d have it again. A very nice light lunch. Please give it a try.

Brilliant stay over, although it was only for 1 night, wish we had stayed here for longer. Hotel rooms were very snug, didn’t want to get out of bed it was so comfortable!!! Modern & in quiet surroundings, very welcoming environment. Breakfast included in room rate, top marks for the buffet & the cooked “Dorset Breakfast” that I had, was very good too. The location is absolutely top notch aswell, not even 30 seconds from the beach, and a half hour walk (depending how slow/fast you are) from Durdle Door - a very scenic route. Value for money in my eyes, you get what you pay for that’s for sure! Would highly recommend would come back in a heartbeat ... but for much longer!

We were extremely lucky to get a last minute cancellation to stay in this lovely hotel. Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. There was the added bonus of some outside space from French windows which was fantastic. We had a good nights sleep. The breakfast in the morning was great - particularly the scrambled egg! There was a pretty good selection of fruit and toast, yoghurts, etc. as well as the menu for cooked breakfast including vegetarian options. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Visited this restaurant on a very busy lunchtime on a hot day without a reservation. As I was only looking for a table for 1 a very helpful waitress quickly cleared up a table and I was sat down within a few minutes. The courtyard outside benefits from being in the full sun but each table has a sun shade for those who don’t want to sit in the sun whilst eating. I ordered the fresh Dorset Mussels and they were stunning. Creamy garlic hue portion with fries and fresh crusty bread. Very reasonable price bearing in mind portion size and location. Have already recommended to friends visiting the area soon. Def will be going back there next time I’m in lulworth cove.

Me and boyfriend recently ate here for our anniversary and could not fault it! The food was excellent I had whitebait for starter - delicious although a very large portion I could have shared it! Followed by Half a Lobster for main which was heavenly and so fresh! My boyfriend and the Chicken Satay skewers for starter which was a much better portion size and the burger which he said was one of the best he had, had as it was so juicy and very well flavoured. We were too full for desert but would definitely go back and afterwards we took a short walk down into lulworth cove beach which finished the evening off nicely!

Myself, my partner and our 3 year old visited for lunch. We arrived before midday and the staff were happy for us to find a seat and enjoy a drink until lunch was being served. The serving staff were really friendly, polite and helpful. One offered a colouring book to our daughter which was great. The food was delicious. We could not fault it at all. They even provided a box to take home what my daughter didn't eat of her pizza. She loved it but it was a really decent size for her. Totally recommend this place.

Staying at the Limestone so decided to eat dinner here at their sister hotel, nice to seat out on the decking enjoying pre dinner drinks whilst looking at sea views, dinner was delicious, lovely starters and excellent fish and chips - too full to enjoy any desserts, friendly and efficient service from the staff. But book early to avoid disappointment as this restaurant gets very busy.

Location and looks brilliant. It ends there as chicken on pizza literally microwaved tasteless pizza and pork sandwich had bits of plastic sandwich wrap in the salad to choke on not 1 but 4 bits. Clearly aimed at target tourist never to return as it was terrible looks can be deceiving

We sat out in the garden on a beautiful sunny day. We had to pull two tables together as we were 8 adults & 1 child. The area was lovely & the food was heavenly. We highly recommend this place. If it was local to where we were staying we probably would have gone there for dinner every day. The fish was so beautiful & fresh. Even my 2 year old granddaughter was tucking into salt & pepper squid, halloumi chips & anything she was offered. My husband loved his white bait starter & seabass main. The only thing that was a bit over cooked was the lobster. The family were so over joyed with their food but the absolute devine dishes were the mussels (wow wow wow) and the strawberry stack desert. The family literally were ordering more of what they loved and haven’t stopped talking about it. This restaurant was our favourite from our weekend in and around Bournemouth

A great place with space to have a drink in the terrace at the back. We booked in advance which I am glad we did as it was a struggle to get in. I had the seabass which was really tasty and fresh. For dessert you have to try the marshmellows and whisky sauce it's to die for. The waiting staff seemed run off their feet and the young girl behind the bar could do with a bit of training in how to pull a pint- pleasant enough though. I would definitely come back here when I come back to Lulworth.

Dirty tables. Uncleared glasses. Scraps of food. Ordered one pint of lager and a sparkling (small) water which came to £7.50. The lager had no head and no fizzy bubbles. The barmaid said it was ok but topped it up. I took it out to my partner and after one sip said it was dead. Had to queue back at bar for it to be changed to a bottle of beer. Attitude poor. Left my water as I couldn't wait to get away from there. These establishments in touristy areas are often the same, don't care attitude because holiday makers are just passing through. No need to build up loyal regular custom with the locals.

Visited early evening enticed as others by the lobster on the menu. My partner was hoping to have the crab, but all gone. so we both settled for the lobster. The staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. The restaurant itself is very pleasant comfortable and clean. The lobster came ready to eat (no having to mess with crackers) and was delicious, french fries were excellent as well. My partner's thought were that if the lobster was so nice then the sold out crab must have been even better.I had the strawberry shortcake dessert which was both a very large plateful and delicious. all in all a hit.

There are a number of eating options to choose from in this small, yet popular seaside location. My wife and I dined here at the recommendation of our accommodation hosts, and it was only a short stroll down the road. The quaint old building houses a reasonably sized dining area, although tables can be a bit tight. There is a good selection of seafood options featuring locally sourced produce, with a good balance of wine offerings as well. My wife was particularly impressed with her Seabass, and my choice of Mussels came in a really tasty sauce. The wait staff were friendly and attentive, despite being busy on our visit. We were certainly glad for the recommendation.

Discovered this bar in October 2022 and spent a couple of pleasant afternoons sitting outside watching the world go by. This November it was too cold to sit outside so instead spent a couple of afternoons indoors. It’s very comfortable and relaxing and the staff were all friendly. What’s not to like?

Discovered The Bear when looking for venues to host a family birthday celebration. The Green Room made the perfect private event space for about 20 family and friends including children. The food was absolutely delicious and the team helpful throughout, from a call back to my email enquiry and planning a bespoke evening buffet menu to service on the night, and even sorting music for us. Massive thanks to Linda and team, we’ll be back!

At last, we have been visiting Swanage for over 30 years and the globe has always been one of our pubs of choice. It's been off the radar for the last two years or so BUT it's back, thanks to the locals for taking it on as a community pub project. We have recently been back in and it's back to the friendly welcoming family friendly pub, we went in Monday 19th August 24 and full of locals which we haven't seen for a long time. Beer etc back to a choice and all well looked after, as is the big back garden. Well done Swanage community, brilliant.
