A busy tourist day in Rye so took whatever cafe that seemed to have space for coffee. The all day brunch menu here looked interesting so gave it a go. Had smoked mackerel with horseradish cream on rosti. Original flavour mix and damn good . Try this place for a different take on brunch.

I have ordered bouquets multiple times before from Lucy and each time they are perfect and last for weeks! Always delivered with a smile. And their coffee is fabulous as well. Such attention to detail in every aspect of their business and their website is easy to use. A wonderful example of how shopping local is better x

Busy pub serving pub staples for a reasonable price. Ham egg and chips for £7.95, though l had scampi and my partner had pie and mash, which still only came to £25. Served quickly and freshly cooked. Bit noisy and sports showing on the tv but great for a pit stop before exploring Rye.

Popped in, looking forward to a nice cup of coffee. Unfortunately this cafe is filthy. Please see photo of chair. The table we sat at had silver duct tape holding the leg on!! Most tables we went to were so dirty we kept looking for a different table. The staff are friendly but I highly doubt this place would pass an environmental health/hygiene inspection. The front till area had a dishwasher which was piled high with dirty dishes and someone was washing dishes by hand in a dirty sink. I need to add that my coffee tasted sour so left it. Please sort your cafe out.

This was one of the best meals out I've had, and still shocked at how good value it was. I've eaten at many Michelin starred restaurants that were not anywhere close to the quality and creativity I experienced at the Landgate Bistro. I was impressed with each beautifully presented dish, especially the lemon sole (wow) and the poached pear with marzipan ice cream (the best version of one of my favourite desserts that I've ever had). The complementary fresh bread was also a lovely touch and impressive in quality in itself, I'm still thinking about that perfect focaccia as well as the marmite butter that went perfectly with the fresh sourdough. The atmosphere and service was also incredible, all the staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and even gave me some great recommendations for places to visit in Rye. I was particularly impressed with the young waiter who was only on his third or fourth shift he told me - l would never have guessed as he came across very natural and confident. I can't think of anything which could have been improved with regards to the food, service or ambience.

I don't want to give a bad review to a family owned restaurant. But there was so much wrong with this place that is easily fixed. The staff were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving and while we were there there were 2 tables full of dirty plates and cups that stayed that way the entire time while the staff enjoyed chatting. If I am eating in with sandwiches and a salad I don't really want to eat out of takeaway containers, the least that can be done is to put it on or give us plates. The food offering is mediocre at best and nothing of any substance that is hot. It is like no real thought has been put into what is being offered, for example soggy croutons with salad, basic would not be difficult to offer soups etc. Overall pretty poor TBH

We are staying here for two nights and have been blown away by the service and beautiful rooms. Had a lovely dinner, with the most delicious food and wine. Our waiter Ruyman was incredibly attentive and gave us great recommendations - such wonderful staff and we enjoyed absolutely everything! Highly recommend!

We ate here as it was dog friendly but the food was mediocre at best. The offer of a warm sausage roll ended up being one that had been microwaved and of course the pastry was soggy. We also had a baked potato which was barely warm. The cakes looked good but we didn't sample them.

This is the second time I have visited The George for a drink since it reopened. Both times have been disappointing. The first time, I visited with a group of friends and we ordered Mojitos. I firstly had to wait a significant amount of time to be acknowledged and served, and when I was, the member of the bar staff told me they were out of mint and advised us to go elsewhere as they were short of staff! The second visit, my partner and I ordered a glass of prosecco and a glass of wine. They were both on tap! The woman serving overfilled the Prosecco glass so the drink cascaded down the sides of the glass, and then handed it to me wet. Weatherspoons could do a better job and at a third of the price! It was a very cold evening and we were surprised that the fire in the bar was not lit. However! Along came a member of staff with fire lighting equipment. The table in front of the fire was occupied with a party of people trying to enjoy a chat and drink. The member of staff proceeded to attempt to light the fire. He went away with no fire lit, returned to check on it and disappeared eventually with an unlit fire. This is all such a shame. It's a beautiful building with so much to offer after everything that has happened. But the staff need to pull their socks up to guarantee returning trade.
