Warm, friendly service with the best Danish pastries I have ever eaten. My granddaughter devour her ice cream, claiming it to be super delicious! Would highly recommend a visit to this excellent café.

We wanted a light meal. I chose crayfish baguette But I requested it as a cocktail with the bread on the side. The barman replied that wasn't possible. I challenged this & asked whyever not? Same ingredients just served a different way. I didn't want all the bread, I wanted the choice to have less bread. Eventually he conceded this might be possible & spoke to the chef who of course could cope with this variation

Arrived in Rye and realised we were hungry so this was the nearest place open for food - I had a full breakfast and my wife had a sausage bap, along with a coffee and a hot chocolate. The food was excellent and arrived pretty quickly, the service was great overall as were asked at least twice how the food was by staff

I have ordered bouquets multiple times before from Lucy and each time they are perfect and last for weeks! Always delivered with a smile. And their coffee is fabulous as well. Such attention to detail in every aspect of their business and their website is easy to use. A wonderful example of how shopping local is better x

During our recent visit to Landgate Bistro in Rye, we were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional dining experience. The food was truly outstanding, showcasing the chef’s dedication to sourcing local ingredients and preparing them with flair. You could tell he has spent time in Rome as there was a clear Italian influence to some of the dishes. Each dish was a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and taste. We really loved the lobster risoni and the carbonara. We actually ended up ordering a starter after our mains instead of a dessert as the food was so lovely. The ambiance of the bistro was both charming and inviting, providing a perfect setting for a memorable meal. The service was impeccable; the staff were attentive and friendly, making us feel genuinely welcomed. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our waitress, Caoimhe, whose warm and professional demeanor added a special touch to our evening. We highly recommend Landgate Bistro to anyone seeking a delightful culinary experience in Rye. We look forward to our next visit

Great little place for people that like pubs the breweries haven't commercialised. Great beers and ciders that are different from the usual everywhere and a great stout (called Blacks) that's a lovely change from Guinness. They do good cheese plates and pork pies. Open log fire with very friendly staff. The owner is there in the bar most of the time chatting to everybody everywhere. He loves his 'work' and creates a very welcoming, open atmosphere. Nothing is fancy, but it's all very authentic and honest. If you're in Rye and looking for a pleasant distraction for a couple of hours, seek it out. You''ll probably be pleased you did.

We had never been to this coffee house before but had been to Rye on a number of occasions my family and i came around 1.30 pm yes it was busy as it was a Saturday but there where tables I went to order my family sat down and looked at the menu while I went to the till area to place an order as it was not clear if we where served at the table or not but we where all ignored by the staff they seemed to be plenty of them after 5 minutes + i am guessing the manager anyway he was the only Man casually dressed said if i would like to sit down and someone would take our order i said ok thank you but 10 minutes later no one had yet taken our order and another group of people who came in a few minutes afterwards got served before us even though they where just takeaway while he was trying to convince them to stay in they went of with there coffees to go us well we got nothing so we walked out it was like we where invisible. AT LEAST SAY HELLO and we will be with you a.s.a.p. no severe no smile.

I don't want to give a bad review to a family owned restaurant. But there was so much wrong with this place that is easily fixed. The staff were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving and while we were there there were 2 tables full of dirty plates and cups that stayed that way the entire time while the staff enjoyed chatting. If I am eating in with sandwiches and a salad I don't really want to eat out of takeaway containers, the least that can be done is to put it on or give us plates. The food offering is mediocre at best and nothing of any substance that is hot. It is like no real thought has been put into what is being offered, for example soggy croutons with salad, basic would not be difficult to offer soups etc. Overall pretty poor TBH

We are staying here for two nights and have been blown away by the service and beautiful rooms. Had a lovely dinner, with the most delicious food and wine. Our waiter Ruyman was incredibly attentive and gave us great recommendations - such wonderful staff and we enjoyed absolutely everything! Highly recommend!

This is the second time I have visited The George for a drink since it reopened. Both times have been disappointing. The first time, I visited with a group of friends and we ordered Mojitos. I firstly had to wait a significant amount of time to be acknowledged and served, and when I was, the member of the bar staff told me they were out of mint and advised us to go elsewhere as they were short of staff! The second visit, my partner and I ordered a glass of prosecco and a glass of wine. They were both on tap! The woman serving overfilled the Prosecco glass so the drink cascaded down the sides of the glass, and then handed it to me wet. Weatherspoons could do a better job and at a third of the price! It was a very cold evening and we were surprised that the fire in the bar was not lit. However! Along came a member of staff with fire lighting equipment. The table in front of the fire was occupied with a party of people trying to enjoy a chat and drink. The member of staff proceeded to attempt to light the fire. He went away with no fire lit, returned to check on it and disappeared eventually with an unlit fire. This is all such a shame. It's a beautiful building with so much to offer after everything that has happened. But the staff need to pull their socks up to guarantee returning trade.
