I took my wife and elderly Mother for lunch on the 22nd of December, having been told by a friend that this was a quality pub with good food and service. Before I say anything more, I’m not one to complain unnecessarily, and consider myself a fair and balanced person, with a discerning palate. Well, we weren’t sure what to expect, and were pleasantly happy to see a carvery, all ready to be served. My wife and I chose the roasts and my Mum the child’s menu of fish fingers. I requested a sweet sherry for my Mum, only to be told that they had run out, so I then asked for a ginger wine, only to be told they didn’t have any, only ginger beer. We settled for a sweet wine. I asked if they did cocktails and the waitress asked anther waitress only to be told “no”. There was no drinks menu, and the main menu was extremely sparse, mainly the carvery and one or two other meals. This takes me on to the carvery. The man serving the food was extremely friendly and jovial, which I have to say was their only saving grace. I had a selection of all the meats, served in abundance along with a good variety of veg on a massive plate. It’s looked amazing. However, how disappointed we were. All the meats except the turkey were undercooked, tough and chewy. The worst carvery I’ve ever had. And the roast potatoes had no crunch to them (my idea of a good test of a quality roast). My Mum’s food arrived, an enormous piece of fish and chips on a very crowded small rectangular plate. The waitress apologised that she had ordered the wrong meal, but said they would only charge for the child’s meal. My poor Mum was immediately put off the large plate of food, and hence only picked at it. Normally, she would have eaten fish and chips, and had it been the child’s version of fish fingers, I think she would have eaten a lot more. Other than that the music was too loud right behind us, making it difficult to talk, and in my view unnecessary. There were loads of groups in the restaurant, so there was a vibe made worse by the music, which apart from being too loud, was not always relaxing to hear. I requested it to be turned down which thankfully it was. All in all, it was a very disappointing experience. The waitressing staff appeared inexperienced, and I can only imagine that there was a Christmas crisis in the kitchen. Having just looked at the website, our experience was miles away from what is described. I would like to think this was an unusual situation, and that the general quality had taken a massive drop due to unforeseen circumstances (which I know happens at this time of year). I’m extremely reluctant to give the Inglenook another chance as we were so disappointed.

We went here on a Sunday for breakfast whilst out without our dogs. Funky punk theme inside with some good photos and music. Unfortunately it’s a bit small inside and tables are close together. The menu looked like a NME but we didn’t find it easy to navigate. We latched onto the famous pancakes section as we wanted more than just a cake and tried to order. Unfortunately pancakes weren’t available that day, so we then opted for bagels with maple syrup. The bagels come on a flat plate with a knife and a pot of syrup. We were both bemused as the only way to eat it was to either pour the syrup onto the flat plate and dunk your bagel in it or break it up and dunk it in the small syrup pot. A bit bazar! This was only a minor issue compared to the family that had taken up residence on the table behind me. Their toddler had taken issue with not being able to use his tablet as there was no signal or Wi-Fi. He made his displeasure known by screaming at the top of his voice inches away from me. We downed our bagels and mopped up the syrup the best be could for a speedy exit. Fortunately the family behind us had the same idea and cut their visit short before us. We did ask on exit how to incorporate the syrup and were told that you could use the ‘knife to spread it’ on the bagel…. I would like to watch someone try. Anyway, coffee was nice and we wouldn’t rule out a return on a school day when we just want a drink and cake,so we can take in the photos in peace.

Could not believe when paying the bill for 2 americanos with hot milk that we were charged 80p for the milk. Never heard of this practice before. It should be stated on menu board that the coffee does not include milk and that it is charged as an extra. The board reads regular Americano £ 2.95... nothing stated that milk is 40p extra. Won't be going there again.

Been here a few times on my monthly visits to Butlins, this afternoon I knew exactly what I wanted (so created my own breakfast) and gave the young lady my list to save her writing it down, it was...3 fried bread, 2 eggs, tinned tomatoes, 2 bacon, 2 sausages and a beef burger, I asked for it all to be served on the fried bread and it was as amazing as I expected, cooked and placed on the bread with perfection. This really is a proper gem of a café, always clean even when it's really busy and you're always greeted & served with a smile. Keep up the good work. See you next month when I'm back at Butlins.😘.

Back to its best Really pleased to visit and find it's back to how it used to be. When the focus was on higher end food, it stopped being a place to drop in for a pint/coffee. Current drinks promo is brilliant and the choice of food van is perfect as before. Thanks for dropping the pretence and delivering what customers originally came for

We had made a long journey for a family funeral. We needed to get something to eat and found DeeDee’s close to our hotel. From the second we walked in it was welcoming and happy. Even the other customers were friendly. We had a full english and it hit the spot. The menu is good and service quick. The amazing cakes caught my eye as we left but they will have to wait for our next visit!

We've been to the Fauna Brewery when it first open and thought it a wonderful new Venue for Adults.... but went last night and it was overrun with kids, running rampant while their parents drank unconcerned . While not completely opposed to children in drinking setting, last night feIt like a Kiddie daycare centre with alcohol, The only area not full of kids was the pub but even then kids were run in and out screaming....and no one disciplining them...not even the staff... This was certainly NOT the Adult experience I was looking for /nor expecting in a BREWERY on a SATURDAY evening....very off putting...

Lunch with friends in this charming cafe with a lovely menu. I had the moules frites which was amazing, my friends had the scampi and the vegan burger. Very generous portions and delicious food served in a trendy relaxed environment in a prime spot by the river. Staff were lovely, food was fresh and served quickly - would highly recommend 👍🏻.
