My grandson’s favourite treat are the chicken barms, for on his way to cricket. Also, I’m partial to their salad boxes. Whatever you choose, the food is amazingly fresh and prepared in front of you. Friendly staff, delicious hot and cold foods and sandwiches. And very well priced. Can’t go wrong!

We called in here today in awful weather, found out they were dog friendly beforehand. Great warm, and inviting clean place, lovely staff, they even brought the two dogs treats & water, wonderful service. The food & coffee was very tasty too, what more could you want on a miserable rainy day.

My food had come with beans on, I did not want nor order them, I asked for them not to be on my meal then the waiter had returned my meal without means although they used the same chicken and chips in a different takeaway box. This could’ve been a lot more serious if I had been allergic, I expected the service to be better due to how expensive the food is.

This hidden gem is a friendly and down to earth place to have a brew and a bite to eat. All are welcome and children are very happy playing in here.

A lovely, quaint location. Dog friendly. Relaxed and informal vibe. The new menu is varied, including interesting options for vegans and vegetarians, healthy choices, and of course good old favourite pub grub too. We had a traditional rag pudding, cheese & onion pie and a very delicious harissa cauliflower steak. Cooked and presented nicely and the service was excellent. Nice walks on the doorstep too!

I came here with my friend and her toddler on the Sunday of May Bank holiday. When we arrived we were trying to decide where to sit and one of the servers asked ‘Are you here for food or drinks?’ We said probably just drinks and we were told we were welcome to sit anywhere. My friend chose the sofa - a choice she made she said because of the looks she was getting from other people towards her and her little boy (who was absolutely fine at this point). When I returned from the bathroom, the server came over and said ‘What can I get you?’ And when we said we hadn’t decided yet, he cut us off, rolled his eyes and huffed ‘Well I’ll just come back’. When he did return, my friend asked for an iced coffee and the French toast to which we were told ‘You can’t have that at this time of day and anyway, you said you were having drinks, I did ask if you wanted food’. God forbid we should change our minds!! This is what followed: - Our two drinks (one hot one cold) left on the counter and walked past at least four times and five customers served before we asked for them to be brought over - A very stale cherry Bakewell slice served (and returned, with no immediate offer of anything like a replacement) - Heard our original sever complain loudly that there were no ‘f——ing spoons’ and then say ‘S—’ three times very loudly about the ability to keep the cutlery clean - When we were honest and said that no, everything had not been alright, despite the very apologetic woman who served us (possibly the manager?) we were told that the original server was ‘a bit on the spectrum’ and didn’t deal well with the busier periods in the cafe. There were FOUR other people working. Me and my friend both work in education and have taught many pupils on the ASD spectrum so quite frankly, this was inappropriate. Had the sever been wearing a lanyard that indicated this, as people did during lockdown, we would have been aware. When we initially turned down the brownie offered to take away, after we paid, he said ‘Fine, all the more for me then’ which again, failed to address the reason we weren’t accepting it in the first place. He was not rude or arrogant to anyone else in the cafe while we were there, yet when it came to us, we were rushed, dismissed and not made to feel welcome at all. The manager heated up a brownie for my friend’s little boy - who is only three and had been looking forward to a cake. Toddlers don’t understand why they shouldn’t eat stale food. She was constantly apologising for his behaviour which was not even an issue, he wasn’t shouting or screaming or anything so I told her to stop apologising. But that’s what she had been made to feel. My friend said her husband comes here all the time as he bikes a lot. He’s welcome to it because I’d never come here again. Saying that you’ll have a word to one of your staff who is rude to customers is not good enough. If you know they do not adapt well to busy periods on the cafe, which you should be grateful for, it is your responsibility to ensure that the duties are managed appropriately so that customers receive the best service. I will accommodate anyone’s needs, I do it every day but I won’t be made to feel guilty for someone else’s rudeness. We were made to feel bad for something we didn’t know (and is technically someone’s personal information) and did not actually address the issue. Oh, and change that awful sign you have on the back of the ladies toilet door. ‘Girly things’ I assume means sanitary products like tampons or sanitary pads. Call it that instead of this nonsense. You’re embarrassing yourselves.

Called in for breakfast as we were passing on our way home after staying in the area. Ordered 2 large breakfasts, 2 coffee and 2 orange juices and all came to leas than £25 so wasn't expecting much. We were very pleasantly when the food arrived. It was all got, freshly cooked and of decent quality. The bacon and eggs were particularly tasty and well cooked. The staff were all friendly, welcoming, and couldnt do enough for you. The toilets and place in general was very clean and in good repair. Recommend stopping off if you're near by

The pub seemed alright, bit dirty but it’s old I guess. The Ale selection is terrible and seemed over priced. They do serve some food, Pizzas’s mostly, but the fact that it’s cooked outside in a dirty trailer really puts me off them, plus, where is the good hygiene rating???? - Would not recommend!

Called in on the chance of getting a proper hearty dinner after reading the reviews. Was greeted with staff who had zero personality and looked more like they wanted to fight you than serve you any food. Only wish the sandwich had as much food on it as the apron did on the person serving us had on. Price did not reflect the standard of sandwich served, a meal deal from across the road would be more substantial and better value. Disappointed.

I had the small full English breakfast, my fella the all day breakfast and my friend had a large bacon barm (it was very large). It was delicious and would go back again when in the area.

i usually love this costa but recently i have found the staff to be passive and miserable. i never write reviews but i must say the attitude of the man serving me this morning caught me so off guard and i genuinely left with my coffee feeling very down-trodden with the way i was spoken to. wouldn’t come again after today.
