My brother discovered The Woolpack when it had gluten free week, so when he suggested I try it, when I came up from Birmingham, I jumped at the chance. Boy, I was NOT disappointed. I had the cheese & onion pie, which was well-filled with a lovely strong cheddar and white onion centre. The pastry was crisp and brown. Chips were fluffy on the inside, crisp on the outside. The dish came with a side of mushy peas, which my mum had, as I'm not a fan, but she enjoyed them. Mum had the steak and ale pie and my brother the salt & pepper chicken. Plates were cleaned. And I'll certainly be back.

A real treat tonight. Gluten free steak and ale pie with chips and mushy peas and gluten-free vinegar 😋 And the gluten free menu is extensive. The food was superb. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. And hubby enjoyed the Theakston Lightfoot too.

We were recommended here by a friend as my daughter is coeliac and finding places to eat out that cater for this has proven quite difficult. The Woolpack menu for gluten free was amazing - really varied choices including desserts! The normal menu was also varied and the food was lovely. We had to wait a little while for the food but that didn't matter. We would definitely return. They also don't charge any extra for the GF menu which a lot of places do. Would definitely recommend especially if coeliac! : )

Another fabulous meal at The Woolpack today. Gf fish and chips/tartar sauce, though I didn't want the mushy peas. Grandson had salt and pepper chicken and an ice cream sundae. All at very good prices. They also have home made gf pizzas, burgers and pies. Fantastic choice for us coeliacs!

We said we would go back and we did, i had the gluten free steak pie(again) and hubby had the gf salt and pepper chicken both tasted amazing. For anyone gluten free / coeliac it makes a refreshing change to have several choices on a menu, knowledgeable staff and excellent service.

Amazing - brilliant gluten free selection. We visited today with our daughter who has coeliac disease & the gluten free menu was amazing. The chef even came over to talk to her about kids options & she was offered gluten free chicken nuggets, sausages or spaghetti bolognaise. She opted for chicken & said they were the best she’s ever had (she ate them before I thought to get a pic) I tried the gluten free cheese & onion pie - delicious! Dale had a roast (can be done gluten free too) Then for afters Naomi had gluten free sticky toffee pudding, it was amazing! Service was also brilliant, we kept being checked on. Anyone with coeliac disease or a gluten intolerance should visit. The menus I have taken pics off are all gluten free, there is also a main menu but I didn’t snap that.

Was expecting more to be honest. Service friendly. We ordered a steak and ale pie and a Guinness and Stilton pie. Up until the last bite, we realised the waiter had given the wrong dish to the wrong person. They both just tasted of steak pies. In the last bite, my wife noticed a slither of Stilton. They claim to be award winning. I disagree. For a pub, only 2 choices of red wine. Shiraz or Merlot. TV we were sat in front was discoloured.

Went twice once as a couple and the next day as a family . The food was rather nice so we decided to take the family on the next time . The food was ok . Cheese and onion pies and 2 vegan curries . Reasonable prices for the food but NOT for the soft drinks ( we don’t drink alcohol ) The 4 coffees and 4 small soft drinks accounted for nearly 28 alone which seemed to be excessive to me .Parking terrible ( might not be their fault) . Will not be going again

The gluten free menu offers loads of options with lots of home made dishes amongst these. The food was delicious and really well priced. I chose the chicken. Hubby enjoyed his 'normal' pizza, and all pizzas can be made gluten free too. Was too full to have a pudding!

We went to the woolpack in haslingden at 3 o clock. They made all my dreams come true. Being a coeliac you have to ask the question what can I eat please ! But the woolpack has a gluten free menu. I had the salt and pepper chicken with chips and salad it was absolutely lovely, then I thought well I could manage a bit of apple crumble and custard to finish off ( my goodness it nearly finished me off) it was the biggest one I have ever seen and it was lovely. I will be back and am going to work my way through the rest of the menu. Thank you to all the staff we had a wonderful experience.

Had a nice meal here this evening. Went in order to sample the gluten free menu, plenty of choice and good quality. We were able to speak with the chef and it is clear that a lot of thought and effort has gone into this, and is being done right. Would recommend and will return :-)

Very disappointing Guinness and Stilton pie flat and cold with 14 chips, chicken tika with additional chips but rice missing and lasagne with no pasta it was tomato with melted cheese and it all took over 30 min to be served and we were the only ones dining. Total cost £40. We won't be back and don't waste your money.

I've always driven passed and thought about trying so we went in for lunch. It was very quiet which was good. The barmaid was very pleasant and we sat down where we wanted. I ordered the rag pudding and my wife went for the tuna melt. The meals arrived quickly and they looked fantastic. The rag pudding was really tasty, the gravy was very meaty and the mushy peas were perfect. I think the chips may be frozen ones, I may be wrong, but they weren't bad. My wife's tuna melt was on a really soft roll. Plenty of fries. The sandwich was tasty, however it could have done with a lot more cheese as there wasn't much on there. Not a bad little place and I'd definitely go back again.

We have been enjoying the food at this wonderful pub for years. Today though, we walked in and shortly after walked out. A number of heavily tattooed men / builder types were stood around the bar swearing loudly. This was late afternoon and at a time when families may come in with children. The young man behind the bar obviously heard them and said nothing! It’s a shame if the standards are let slip!

When we moved to the Rossendale area a few years ago, we hoped to find a local pub where we could have good food and find a friendly atmosphere. The Woolpack is exactly that! Fantastic fresh food every time and the staff and local people are brilliant and always have time to stop for a chat. Does not matter if it’s your first visit or you’re a regular, you are always warmly welcomed .. and it’s dog friendly too. Our little pooch loves all the attention she gets!!

Went for a quick bite to eat and a drink. The pub was very clean and tastefully decorated, Friendly atmosphere and the staff were welcoming. Our food was well presented, well cooked and was delicious BUT..mine was almost cold. I have noticed a lot of pubs/restaurants seem to serve food that itsn't hot enough and this was probably one of the worst. I was starving and ate everything but I suppose I could have asked for my meal to be warmed up a bit. The choice of menu wasn't extensive and I think thats a good thing. Just plain, delicious food , the sort of thing I really like. Would go again and would mention it, if my meal wasn;t hot enough. Worth a visit. Thumbs up from me.

We visited the Woolpack after a late morning's shopping, the pub was quiet on the food side but a few punters were having a lunchtime pint. Staff very friendly specially the landlady who came and greeted us before she went off to do some ordering for the business. We ordered soft drinks plus the gammon, egg and chips and the scampi. The food took a while to arrive but we were in no hurry, when it turned up it was freshly made, piping hot. and nicely presented. We had thought that we would not bother with the desserts but the puds sucked us in!!! one sticky toffee pud and one ginger sponge pud, both with custard, which is the best touch and does not seem to appear too often on pub menus. Desserts arrived really hot - so while it cooled a bit I had a quick look round this old stone built imposing building, interior much changed from our last visit many moons ago, very tastefully decorated in muted colours, nice carpeting, tables pristine and polished, open fireplaces a nice touch, clean, sparkling toilets ( you know what we women are like about these) and overall a lovely homely feel to the place,. highly recommended.

I love Christmas dinner. The trimmings and the memories of growing up with the tradition. I have had a few Christmas dinners in the area and this was the best. They use real turkey, not the processed slices but the real bird. Moist with all the trimmings. The trifle and the mince pie with cream also went down very well. So sorry they do not serve it all year or as a special some times. .Price was great .

The pub seemed alright, bit dirty but it’s old I guess. The Ale selection is terrible and seemed over priced. They do serve some food, Pizzas’s mostly, but the fact that it’s cooked outside in a dirty trailer really puts me off them, plus, where is the good hygiene rating???? - Would not recommend!

Been here a few times over the years and it's a lovely cosy eating establishment, food today was good but a little let down by service from the staff, they were friendly enough but nearly 10 mins after been taken to our table not one person asked us if wanting drinks ,it's basic customer service . We had to ask for them to come over and once served with food not once came over and asked if everything ok. 4 staff chatting away with each other. Just needs tinkering with the staff that's all. Also don't like the idea they put a service charge on your bill without asking you ,not many customers will see this on the bill, it's quite sneaky to be honest.
