The Village Store in Rossendale

A friend and I visited as we hadn’t been for a while. Very good service, friendly, efficient staff. I had whitebait, seasonal vegetables and chips and she had cod. Delicious food, thank you.

We recently provided a 5 star review on Trip Advisor, as the food was exceptional!! My wife particularly felt that the fish was the best she’d ever had. Due to this, we returned yesterday, where my wife again ordered the fish. What’s happened??? Different chef maybe??? She could have got a nicer fish from a back street chippy. It also said that it came with chunky chips, but this time it came with soggy wedges. Even the mushy peas were tasteless!!! What’s happened?

Unreal place for tea tonight. The chips were probably the best chips we have ever tasted. Steak and peppercorn also 10/10 (and even the pornstar). Can’t fault the food / service we had.

We usually visit here for breakfast which is always consistently good but on this day we decided to try lunch off the new menu. We were not disappointed in fact we enjoyed it so much we will be going back with the family very soon.I am an retired catering manager and I can honestly say the fish I had was the best I’ve had for years,well done chef!! The atmosphere was good as was the service keep up the good work and see you soon.

Called in for lunch. Food was good. Service came with a smile, which goes a long way towards an enjoyable meal. It's always nice to know the history of old establishments like this and Brooke was very enthusiastic and happy to share her knowledge. Would happily recommend, and will definitely return

We have been visiting TVS for 7 years and seen a change that isn't the best. From a vibrant busy eatery that offered great service, fast, friendly and with a great vibe, it has always had good decent food. New management seem lack luster and have no interaction with clients. Staff are pleasant but 2 youngsters struggle to serve 70% full room. New menu not changed much but food always good. Meat on a hot plate gone ( great), but food on a plank of wood still a bit 1980's We tried very hard to love the place , and as a drop in for a brew and cake YES. Bring back a trained hist / server or maybe management should go to the Toby Inn up the road and see how it should be done.

It's so sad, this was an amazing little place which felt a part of the community. We visited today, our "welcome" was "sit anywhere" and a couple of menus dropped on the table followed by "Have you decided" some time later. The staff member sat on a bench out of sight throughout the entire meal so when the steak on the stone arrived, on a stone that wasn't hot enough to cook it, we waited a while to spot someone to help and it was a long time before we finally got up and realized the only member of staff was sat over in the corner. The steak went back to the kitchen and the same portion came back on a hotter stone. The quality of meat was poor, and the staff offered a discount by 10 pounds, but then discounted by 10% and changed when I queried. Why I've given two stars, the homemade steak pie was "ok" and the homemade chilli was nice. It will be a long time before we return - once loyal customers.

Went with Family of 5 ordered food,4 came then waited one & half hrs for bowl of uncooked veg soup for my mother of which came when everyone else had eaten. there's, 3 young people running the place clueless.thought I would shop local never again. I use to love the place but definitely gone downhill even the donkey wouldn't have eaten the carrots in the soup they where rock hard.

Family of 5 ordered 2 breakfast gammon & Chips chilli & Chips 1 veg soup,got 4 mains after a long wait,waited 1 & half hr for soup when other had eaten there's,when it came it was not edible raw carrots you couldn't eat.ask what the problem was for the wait no answer ask for manager was none 3 young people taking charge,clueless comes to mind what a shame I went local never again.

visit regularly just for a hot chocolate so went for the first time for food tonight and throughly enjoyed it. lovely food, fabulous milkshakes and Brooke is a huge credit to the place. 5*

we dined at the village store over the weekend and i have to say the service was ok but the food was really bad!.Our chicken was cold and the sizzler wasn’t nice at all!.chewy chicken in a thick chilli sauce,not pleasant at all.I also opted for the sticky toffee pudding for desert which came basically cold Shame as we were told good things about this place.

Wont be returning, recently dined here and chose the steak swinging kebab, I felt like I was eating a tyre steak was chewy like rubber, awful. There must have also been a shortage of chips aswell I had about 8 chips, ridiculous.

I came to the village stores for food tonight. It was pretty quiet and no atmosphere at all. The menu was extensive with lots of choice but I plumped for the special a so called sizzler. Unfortunately there was nothing special about it. The chicken and vegetables were boiled in a sweet chilli sauce and there was no sizzle!. The meat was chewy and rubbery and just tasted awful. The veg was watery and over cooked and the whole thing was just unappetising. unfortunately we will not be coming back any time soon!!!!

I had the Eggs Benedict which was one of the best I have ever had. Absolute delicious. This was my first visit but definitely won’t be my last.

Brilliant breakfast take the little one for breakfast here on as many Sundays as I can and would highly recommend

We visited this place for lunch .It is a lovely little restaurant. Very quaint and unusual with a lovely ambience The food was delicious and the lovely young lady who served us was very efficient charming and friendly. We will definately go again

Travelling on business from Nottingham I found this place on Google. Staff are super friendly and the place has a real 'old world charm' while being nicely contemporary. Breakfast was excellent and very nice coffee. I would certainly recommend this place

Absolutely fantastic Attended for a pre baby meal Long story short we had some changes to our event and bex could not have been more accommodating Fit 12 of us in at last minute, communication was brilliant, offered to set up some decorations for us, was friendly, polite and generally welcoming. What a lovely little hidden gem this place is , we visited with my two teenage daughters and the service was outstanding, food was unreal, id highly recommend this bistro, plenty to choose from on the menu and a few cheeky cocktails too 😉 will definitely make a regular trip back.

The food was good although the prices have gone up quite a bit ..... garlic bread £7.95 and deserts £7.95..... wow. The service was very slow and I had to ask twice to get drinks, then for desert menu the staff were definitely not on the ball.... need more attention to customers...

Found this place looking for a place to eat On business trip, welcoming staff and the atomosphere is good. There was a long wait for the food which should be noted but it was clearly all freshly made and cooked on site and tasted great. Good selection of drinks at the bar too.

Wow the Sunday dinner was insane, my partner had the chicken myself the beef and it was incredible melt in your mouth, extra side of pigs in blanket and cauliflower cheese I was in food heaven. Visited on Sunday with my husband. Excellent food, beautiful Sunday roast. My husband had pigs in blankets extra. Waitresses very attending and friendly, great service from Chloe and Wicktoria, girls made sure that we won't leave hungry and unhappy. I will definitely come back again.

Food was actually excellent . However . . . The waitress held boiling hot drinks over our 1 year olds head whilst handing them out. I asked her not to, and she then did it again! Staff need training on *basic* safety commonsense

From the moment we went in the restaurant we were really well looked after. The staff greeted us with a smile and our waitress (Chloe) was very helpful and attentive and made us feel like valued customers. The choice of dishes on the menu was excellent and the food was delicious and well presented. We will definitely be going back.

I rang up The Village Store & asked if they were doing a take-a-way Sunday roast. I have a cold at the moment & didn't want other diners to suffer my sneezing & coughing! I was so happy to find out that TVS has just started up their Sunday roast again & were happy to allow it to be done as take out. It was beautiful! I was given a half a chicken, beautiful veg & lovey gravy. I added the pigs in blankets (biggest I've ever seen) & coli cheese. All, of the food was gorgeous! It was served to me by two lovely ladies at the till. It banished my January blues!!!

Love supporting local and totally appreciate and understand the need to increase pricing but I think prices here now are unjustifiable. The 5oz steak on a stone was my absolute favourite but after a £7 price increase it’s not something I would now order.

Was very disappointed when we visited. The 3 of us came for breakfast off a recommendation and we all got the full English. The food was cold and the eggs were still part raw. We raised the problem with the waitress who spoke to the chef and said it was because “he had a baby at home, he’s tired so that’s why the plates weren’t warmed and the food was cold”. Jess was so lovely and friendly it’s a shame the food let it down… it’s definitely not good value for money and I wouldn’t try it again. Absolutely gorgeous food. We had the steak and eggs and a small breakfast today at mid day. The steak and eggs were cooked to perfection, just want to say a big well done to josh the chef, the breakfast was perfect too, the plates were warmed, the food was hot and fresh. Terrible table Service we booked a table for 7 at 12:15pm we arrived at 12:10, we got told to sit down and they would be with us within 2 min, 15 mins later we still didn’t get any service not even for a drink! I then went back to the bar and got told we have to wait until they serve the people before us even tho they was serving people that came in 15 mins after us! I then went back to the table and she came to the table 20 mins later and told us it would be half an hour before they could even serve us a drink! Went in to The Village Store as part of a walk round helmshore/Rossendale. Had been in several years ago and it has changed dramatically, a real bistro type look and classy modern feel. Nice wide selection on the menu with lovely indoor and outdoor seating....

The Village Store, hidden away on a quiet road. A very cute restaurant. Welcomed on arrival and shown our seats. Interior is calm and cosy. Brilliant customer service by Billie our waitress. Offered to take a family picture of us. Remembered our order off by heart. The Mint Chocolate Chip milkshake is gorgeous. Halloumi fries are tasty. I would highly recommend this place. 👌

Where to start? The food. I have been a number of times now. I would like to say all the food is great but i cant as i always have to go for the 10oz fillet on stone with chilli chips. It is amazing every time. I have never tried anything else but im sure its great. The hanging kebab thing looked awesome as it was taken past and my wife raves about the veg thai curry. Service. Its NOT fast food. Go to Mcdonalds if you want that. Good food takes time. Meals out are to be enjoyed. Yes, we sometimes have waited a while to order food, but they always provide drinks as we wait. Once food ordered it is not a long wait, which tells me they only take the order when they are ready which is fine by me. Remember, its not fast food....Anyway, seen a couple of reviews about the staff..... the only name i know is craig. He is friendly, joyfull and very helpfull. He has made us feel welcome on every occassion. The other staff have alll also been really friendly too. All in i would deffo recommend the village stores, it is a gem!

Booked dinner for Husbands birthday because he keeps raving about the steak on a stone. He was absolutely right to rave about it- food was delicious and quick service. The standard well exceeded my expectations and for a good price. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and nice to talk to. We discovered this little gem before Christmas and have been many times since then - twice this week!! The food has always been amazing, everything we’ve tried is delicious.
