Our first visit to Rathlin Island and of course we availed of The Hungry Seal! The food was absolutely amazing, we were in chippy heaven. The chips are probably the best I've ever had and the battered sausages to die for! The other half had the haddock supper and claimed it was the best he's ever had. Decent portions, the price is up there but not much different than your average chippy to be fair. The girls were lovely and had the food ready in good time. We would take a trip back to the island just for another feed at the Hungry Seal lol 10/10 for us! (Not my picture, found in Google search)

Nestled amongst woodland in close vicinity to bowling green & tennis courts. The setting is very quaint, snack type menus were very good & service polite, friendly & quick. A very enjoyable cafe, largely outdoors on a sunny day. It will be our go to cafe.

First visit after one of my besties recommended this place and I went for a birthday treat. Opened at 3pm on the day we visited and we stood outside looking at their amazing menu while we waited. By the time they opened, there was quite a queue behind us, which just shows how popular this place is. Lovely warm welcome from Nacho, who explained the menu and was very attentive during our visit. We sat in the back room which leads outside to a seating area. We LOVED this room. My husband is a runner & cyclist so we spent ages looking at the decor and watching the film they had playing, which had footage of the races in The Lakes. We chose different burgers, which were high quality and tasted divine. Chris chose loaded fries as a side and I picked the mac n cheese - wow, I could have eaten an entire huge bowl! It was delicious!! I treat myself to a peach mocktail, then a Pear Grylls cocktail - both were superb and we even had room for pud, picking each of the 2 choices on the menu. We are frequent visitors to Keswick so will definitely return to sample one of the other amazing sounding burgers - might try their special burger next time. Great find and so interesting to learn of the Bob Graham ‘Round’ Race 🏃♀️🏃♂️

Had an excellent meal at the Lowther Arms, Fish & hips were fab. Very fresh fish and crispy batter (gluten free too!). Regular Fish & Chips was a big portion too, not left hungry, that's for sure. Prices were good and the staff were friendly and attentive - I recommend having a meal or two here if you are in the area.

We called in today whilst on a circular bike ride from Keswick around Skiddaw and back. Caldbeck is approximately the halfway point , and a perfect place to stop for coffee and a bite to eat. This was our first visit to the Muddy Duck since the refurbishments. What a great experience it was. We were able to put our bikes (recumbent trikes) round the back on the new decking area so that we could see them from the cafe. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and once the bikes were sorted we sat inside by the door onto the decking. Food and coffee was ordered at the counter and was quite simply excellent. Well presented, tasty and excellent quality. As customers of Harrison's butchers ourselves we expected nothing less , but, it was perfectly cooked delicious. The iced coffee was perfect and my latte was also very good , if anything though, slightly bitter for my taste, but that's a personal thing not a criticism. The staff also need a mention, polite, efficient and very friendly, a credit to the business. Finally, they also catered well for my partner who is coeliac and requires a gluten free diet. Lots of choice including cakes to go. We will definitely be back having rediscovered this gem. We will definitely be back

We have been here many times and always enjoy beautifully cooked food, well presented by lovely staff. This time was no different, the food was excellent but we were a bit disappointed by the menu reverting to how it was when the restaurant opened when it seemed as if it didn't know what type of food it was meant to be. It is now split into Food Menu described as tapas style, Sharing (which is obvious), and Chef's Specialty : Small Plates. I fail to see the difference between small plates and tapas style and this is not helped by the fact that some of the small plates are bigger than others. It all adds up to making the customer confused, so I hope by the time we come back that they see sense and revert back to 'small plates'. However, we did enjoy the food and the atmosphere etc etc.

We used to eat in Veeva weekly, but since the change in staff it hasn’t been the same. The menu isn’t as good, lack of variety on the specials board, just not the same. We had lunch there today and my husband’s quesadillas was very thinly filled, and the portion of skinny fries had reduced to a small bowl from a lovely big tub. Not good considering the price. You used to have to queue for a table but it was practically empty! I don’t think we will be back in a hurry. Also they don’t let dogs in!

Viisited Butterfiles after doing some shopping in Marks and Spencers next door and it's a real bargain, you can get a coffee and a cake for under £5, which is a real bargain, and the cafe does light meals and salads for under a tenner. Owner is very friendly, iknows his customers by name( a sign Butterflies gets plenty of repeat business) and the cafe is very clean. If you are shopping in Workington, this is one cafe that's worth a look.

We called in here after the Catbells walk. The short queue was well worth the wait. The food was fabulous, with healthy options, the staff friendly and organised, and overall worth every one of the 5 stars! Looking forward to visiting again! Thank you!
