Had an excellent meal at the Lowther Arms, Fish & hips were fab. Very fresh fish and crispy batter (gluten free too!). Regular Fish & Chips was a big portion too, not left hungry, that's for sure. Prices were good and the staff were friendly and attentive - I recommend having a meal or two here if you are in the area.

Letâs start with the best part of the mealâŠthe dessert. The gluten free gingerbread pudding was one of the best GF desserts Iâve eaten. Outstanding. (Came back the next night to get it to go.) The fish curry for the main really lacked flavor. I dumped a couple of tablespoons of their hot sauce and it helped greatly. The pork belly was fine. Tasted like basic BBQ sauce on it. And thanks to the chap in the pic who is sticking his tongue out at the camera.

I have recently torn my ACL so have been a little hesitant to go out a lot because of access issues and generally being uncomfortable. I messaged on Facebook to reserve a table and to check I would be ok on crutches with a knee brace. The staff could not have been more helpful and I was able to come in the side entrance and leave that way. We were given a big table for us and our two dogs. The food was lovely- we both had paninis and a cake each (scone and carrot cake) and we couldnât fault a thing. As you can tell from the photos, the dogs loved the doggy sausages too. We will be returning, thanks so much :)

Outstanding coffee, decent range of cakes and pastries, but seriously miserable service from the Lucy & Yak wearing server on duty today. I know we all have off days, but Iâd prefer to have my coffee served by someone I felt didnât actively hate me for speaking to them. Would I return? Possibly, but Iâd check who was serving first.

We called in today whilst on a circular bike ride from Keswick around Skiddaw and back. Caldbeck is approximately the halfway point , and a perfect place to stop for coffee and a bite to eat. This was our first visit to the Muddy Duck since the refurbishments. What a great experience it was. We were able to put our bikes (recumbent trikes) round the back on the new decking area so that we could see them from the cafe. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and once the bikes were sorted we sat inside by the door onto the decking. Food and coffee was ordered at the counter and was quite simply excellent. Well presented, tasty and excellent quality. As customers of Harrison's butchers ourselves we expected nothing less , but, it was perfectly cooked delicious. The iced coffee was perfect and my latte was also very good , if anything though, slightly bitter for my taste, but that's a personal thing not a criticism. The staff also need a mention, polite, efficient and very friendly, a credit to the business. Finally, they also catered well for my partner who is coeliac and requires a gluten free diet. Lots of choice including cakes to go. We will definitely be back having rediscovered this gem. We will definitely be back

La habilidad que va a efectuar sus tartas de cumpleaños es insuperable y el sabor tan bien como se ven. Cualquier cosa puede ser hecha a partir de una foto de la imagen. Absolutamente magnĂfico.

Read reviews and decided to try this for lunch. We were the only people in the restaurant and at first we were a little unsure. However the restaurant is beautifully decorated and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. I had the crispy duck salad and my husband had the sticky pork belly and we shared some sriracha fries. All the food was bursting with flavour, very very tasty. If in doubt just try it, you wonât be disappointed, we will certainly be back.

We used to eat in Veeva weekly, but since the change in staff it hasnât been the same. The menu isnât as good, lack of variety on the specials board, just not the same. We had lunch there today and my husbandâs quesadillas was very thinly filled, and the portion of skinny fries had reduced to a small bowl from a lovely big tub. Not good considering the price. You used to have to queue for a table but it was practically empty! I donât think we will be back in a hurry. Also they donât let dogs in!
