The best restaurants serving Mediterranean food in London

I went to Jak’s a few times before the pandemic and enjoyed it. However, I went there for dinner with my friends and emailed them about going to the club afterwards. The dinner was ok. Very buzzy but the service wasn’t great. After dinner we wanted to go to the dance floor, as specified in my email to Jak’s, but you could only go on the dance floor if you booked a table (they’ve changed policies since the pandemic apparently). Obviously it was massively frustrating and I wouldn’t have gone to Jak’s if I had known this. Therefore, I’d only go to Jak’s if you want to have overpriced drinks and stand in a cramped bar with no seats 👎

HORRIBLE. Worst Persian restaurant i have ever been to, absolute shame to true Iranians. Disgusting attitude by the staff and horrible standards for an Iranian place. Please do not visit and judge the food based on your experience. Lady waitress was horrible and had so much attitude with a sense of entitlement, the crew never tended to our needs and took forever to bring water. Food is over priced and flavorless. I hope the staff reads this because you are all horrible and treated me with utter crap. I really hope they shut down and make space for a better restaurant at such a prime location. SUCH A SHAME

Quizás tuvimos mala suerte con las opciones pero llega un punto en el que no solo es caro, sino que sientes que te han estafado. Había estado en la hiedra unos días antes, que era alrededor del mismo precio, pero la comida era más especial y las porciones eran decentes para el precio. Estoy dando 2 estrellas como la comida estaba bien y el servicio excelente. Sin embargo, pedimos un mezze que era de £ 15. Vino con 3 de las ollas más pequeñas que he visto, suficiente para unas 2 cucharas cada una. Sería bueno que fuera comida gourmet pero era humor estándar de la ciénaga, etc. Tenía pequeños trozos de pitta y una galleta. Pedimos más y nos cobraron £ 3 por lo que era medio pitta cortado en 2. Peor fue la principal. La lubina costaba £ 28 y venía sin verduras ni patatas. La lubina era una pieza muy pequeña, así que pagué £ 28 por una pequeña pieza de lubina y extra por verduras. Tal vez si wed pidió otra cosa habría sido mejor, pero solo puedo seguir en lo que me sirvieron y era muy caro para el estándar y el tamaño de la porción.

Treated our son, son in law and 1, 1/2 year old grandson. They loved it. So sad to see that it is permanently closed as wanted to treat them again and they live in Muswell Hill.

This is the best kebab in London. The bread is so nice and buttery and the meat is great. Also great prices and the free salad is a bonus.

The mixed shawarma was unbelievable and the staff are marvelous. This is my go to restaurant in South Kensington for dinner on my way back to the hotel. The portions are so large I have a before bed snack. The food reminds me of months in Lebanon…

Estamos perplejos de que un restaurante de estrella Michelin tendría una comida horrible, muy mal servicio combinado con un precio muy muy alto por la mala calidad de la comida y la experiencia. La paella que comimos fue cocinada por alguien que acaba de aprender a cocinar o por alguien que no sabe cómo se cocina una paella. Era un desastre caliente. Nuestra recomendación, ahorrar su dinero, su paciencia y su pallet a toda costa y simplemente mantenerse alejado de este lugar.

Service was slow and our main meals (2 x targines) were very mid. Not particularly flavourful and lacking in anything beyond the main ingredients (chicken/lamb). Babganosh starter was good tho.

Food was 10/10. Good portion size for the price & tasty. Made my day getting okra & veg with my fish!!

The food is just great! Quantities are super generous. Music is good and the service is excellent (even the chairs are good…)

It would have been a good night had it not been for the unprofessional attitude of the manager, Having looked at the menu on their website, we decided to book for a team dinner as the prices fit within our budget - The weekday menu is advertised as £17.50 for 2 courses and £22.00 for 3 courses. The meal was OK, and the service was great (I do feel bad for the waitress giving a 1 star review) the problems arose when the bill arrived. You get presented with a blank piece of paper apart from the total, no breakdown of meals or prices, and it was far higher than it should have been. In our party of 18, 10 people had 2 courses and 8 had 3 courses and they tried to charge almost £550.00. I questioned this and was told I would need to speak with the manager. When he came out of the kitchen, he didn't walk further than the door so we had to go over to him (this conversation wouldn't have disturbed any other customers as we were the only people there). From the start he was incredibly rude and when we questioned the amount of the bill he insisted it was correct. We tried to explain that the menu on the website very clearly stated different prices and even checked it whilst we were talking just in case anything had changed - it hadn't but he didn't care. He continued to insist the price charged was correct, which was £27.50 per person, we pointed out that was the price advertised on the weekend menu and we were there on a Wednesday. His response to this they were old prices and how we can we expect to only pay £17.50 or £22.00. He couldn't tell me how we were meant to be aware of this without being told. He continued to argue, yell and dismiss all of our questions, until he stomped off into the kitchen yelling over his shoulder for us to get out! We settled the bill, at the advertised price, and ensured that the service charge added did go to the staff, but this encounter did overshadow the evening and is not how I expect any customer to be treated in a restaurant. I would not recomend going to this restaurant based on the way the manager treats people who have the "audacity" to question him, if you do decide to go make you check the prices before ordering anything. The picture below shows the menu the night we were there and I have checked their website again today and the weekday menu is still advertised at the same price.

Yet another phoenix rising from the flames of a previous venture. Doesn't know whether its lebanese turkish, greek middle eastern or none of the above. Given the quality of much of what they served the best answer would be - none of the above. Simply nothing more than a space to escape power cuts, poor weather etc

We visited Ruya restaurant for dinner after my daughter wedding party, and the restaurant was really disappointing. The food was good, but everything else was a total disaster - We were a large group, we were greeted by the vent manger, who introduced himself and promised to take care of us, they left as his shifted ended with no handover to anyone else - They gave us a table too small for our group, despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty. - We had to ask for everything 2-3 times, like water, bread, drinks...etc, and many items were never delivered - We had no idea who is manager, supervisor, waiter or cleaner, just many people running around unorganised. Inexperience staff, which evident of how they smudge the dirts instead of cleaning it, or asking me to find room on the table when they serve the dishes instead of two people working together to serve us. - We opted for the set menu, and gaps between courses was way too long, like 20-25m despite our repeated request to expedite - The set menu portions were too small, we had order a lot more food Ala carte. - We have asked for the manager 3-4 times, and I only saw him when I got the bill at the end, where I briefly vented my frustration but had to leave to escort my guests out. I dont understand all the hype around the restaurant, it is clearly just a social media campaign since many of the reviews complain about the same issue. went in there last night withe my daughter and son in law after it was recommended by someone ld already eaten which turned out to be a blessing they had lamb chops with chips and some chicken wings on the side which were straight out of the microwave which you could hear pinging as there were no other diners in there and for some reason the chips were piping in the middle and cold on the outside my son in law told im presuming he was the owner that it was the worst turkish restaurant hed ever been in. and that how can you be happy serving up that to people no apology and not even a gesture of taking something off the seventy pound bill would give this place the widest of births and now we know why it was empty and not the piss poor excuse given that it was all covids fault. i had covid and it was more of a pleasent experience than this place.

Perfect as usual. Ioanna was super friendly and suggested something to order as starters. I also tried a blind order for the first time (asking her to bring a main of her choice without me knowing) and she brought me the seabass which is one of my favourites which I ordered in my previous visit (5 months ago). to accommodate that we were there for business and we had to go back within 1h, she suggested to bring all food together as they came out from the kitchen. wise choice! Impeccable service. we will (again) come back!
